Huhu peeps!

I've been stalking these boards for quite some time, for inspiration and motivation... but I figured now it the time to contribute as well.

For this topic I've chosen my Glaive WIP, but will upload my entire Luna Wolves army this weekend smile.png I've got to paint this puppy up before this saturday 1 PM, for a painting compo, but I still have a long way to go. Sofar I've only done work on the whites, and some base paints on tracks/brass etc

Anywho, here are the pics! I hope you like!

This is before the washes, but did do some battle damage/chipping already.

man you heresy boys sure dont look after your tanks biggrin.png your techmarines must be spitting bolts with all the rust and damage you do to themlaugh.png

seriously though very good job sir ,very nice placement and application of rust and battle damage,

you may want to address the mould join lines on the fuel tanks though as they draw attention.

this can be addressed with a little liquid greenstuff

We drive our tanks like we wear our Converse; Until the bottom drops out!

Thanks for the reply man! Good point about the fuel tanks! I did NOT see that yet, until you take a picture ofc haha! I'll Liquid greenstuff it up and will let you know how it goes :)

I don't know why, but I always thought that the Glaive tank was a relatively small model due to a number of pictures from a while back, but those pictures put it into perspective (i.e. the paint pots etc, gives it the scale I need to understand how chuffing big it is! blink.png Thanks for that! thumbsup.gif )

I love the rust effects. Very realistic thumbsup.gif

Paint pot perspective at your service :D Thanx for the comment :)

Thanks for the great comments everyone! I'm glad you like the Glaive so far. I'll be sure to put the rest of my army up this weekend!

I did made some progress though :) But I doubt it'll be ready in time...

So what still needs to be done? A lot!

I need to color the mud/dust, add pigments, all the brass, all the metal, all the gold, heat bloom, etc etc etc... It's gonna be a long night huh.png

That looks amazing, what color are you using for the chips/missing paint?

Hi! Thanx :D

The chipping kind of depends on the size of the model. In this case I undercoated the entire model dark brown/umber brown.

After that I sponged light brown/orange tints on it, sealed it with Purity Seal, styled it with hairspray, airbrushed with whites and used a brush and warm waters to get rid of the white coat where I didn't want it... The 'undercoat' looks like this:

On smaller models, I just use a sponge... I feel that 1:1 mix dark brown;black works really well for these kind of things.

I hope that helped :)

Huhu,

So a little update.. I did pretty much most of the OSL, did some work on the brass and added more detail to the gold

I kept the barrel traditional, loving the purple hue on the FW one!

Did some work on the exhausts and the back.. I'm not 100% sold on the yellow yet, but we'll see how it goes. The exhausts need a bit of cleaning up still

Lascannon time! 4 of 'em on each side! and a picca of the big gun.

The sides

I'm still not too convinced about the entire tracks section... I might re-do it... "might"... :P

You make me cry tears of joy that I may witness such beauty and tears of regret that I neither possess the skill or equipment to create art to such degree.

Yes, this is no mere miniature anymore.

It is art...

Wow, just, simply, wow! Strangely enough, the one part that did stand out for me was the closeup of the right-side quad-las; the paint chipping effect behind it is simply way too realistic for such a small scale.

I guess I now hate you a little!

Haha! Wow! Poetry in motion! Tbh not that much 'equipment' or skill is required. The only 'big' purchase would be an airbrush, but tbh my entire airbrush setup is about $150. Thanx for the compliment, I'm glad you like it! Nor is a lot of skill required, I got the FW Masterclass book, which describes all the techniques I used on this mini :) I can recommend it!

Love the work great stuff. What did you do for the light brown oil effect u got running down the tank.

Hi! Thanx for the comment :) The light brown oil effect is actually... brown oil! :D I used Winsor & Newton Winton Oil Colours 3 Burnt Umber. Add a bit of White Spirit and you are good to go! It's actually super easy to use! :)

Aww! Hate you too! <3 Haha! Thanx for the comments :) The paint chipping behind the right quad-las is mostly accidental... I usually liberally apply oil pants and see where it goes from there :)

Thanx for the comments everyone! I'm glad you like it!

I did DO something kind of retared though... I entered the Glaive in today's painting competition, which means it'll be inside GW Rotterdam for about a month... No problem, but I forgot to make pics of the finished Glaive! :(

So! In about a month I'll make some better pics, but in the meantime here's the finished Glaive on display :)

http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag82/Maarten_Van_Waesberge/Warhammer/Luna%20Wolves/Glaive/IMG_4317_zps72b51bee.jpg

I've got to admit that I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. Though when I applied a coat of purity seal the pigments on the left track defied me and turned white-ish in certain spots... Anyone have ANY idea what caused that?
