4th Tarosian Regiment - Devildog

That's a brilliantly simple conversion CoffeeGrunt, especially the visual example you used with the Halo Wraith. Now, forgive my ignorance, but what's a Colossus? huh.png I've not heard of such a vehicle amongst the Guard before, or at the least, my tired brain is malfunctioning again and I simply can't recall it right now.

Also will you be mounting a gunnery crew on the back platform as usual or will the Ion Mortar be controlled from within the tank? If so, then I'd like to humbly put forward the suggestion that instead of a normal crew you could have a spotter/repair drone and one of your Earth Caste-trained "Techpriests" (minus the bulky backpack) from back on Page 13 to oversee such a powerful and potentially dangerous piece of technology, maybe he could use the Fire Warrior arm with the little scanner thingamajig as a sort of control device for the Ion Mortar seeming as it doesn't appear to have any controls at the moment?

One last idea, have you considered replacing the Heavy Flamer nozzles on your vehicles with the ones from Tau Crisis Suits? I just thought it might further add to that "human design with xeno improvements" asthetic.

No problem! I was debating what sort of crew to put on it as I'll be painting them separately then gluing them on. I'm thinking of going with a model more like this to represent my Techpriests in the future as well. The Pathfinder kit has one of those scanners separate from an arm along with a couple of other doodads, so I can probably make good use of it. I'll probably get a couple more Tech Drones as well to accompany them, so I could probably incorporate one into the crew. :)

The Colossus was in the old Guard codex and in the current Imperial Armour One book. Your usual artillery vehicle with an S6 AP3 Ignores Cover large blast. I like the idea of it being an immolating explosion of plasma that wipes Marines out.

I tried out the Tau flamers, but they weren't a great fit for a replacement sadly. :/

Ah, well those models certainly look advanced enough to be a Techpriest stand-in, and it seems like something the Tau might well design too, I imagine all it'd need is maybe a Fire Warrior shoulder pad to mark it's allegiance, maybe a different helmet and a couple of Tau gizmos and voila! Instant Easte Caste Gue'vesa Engineer, or perhaps that should be... (clears throat & opens up Xenolinguistic Device) ...Fio'ui Gue'vesa, "Earth Caste Senior Human Helper." cool.png

Huh, so the Colossus isn't around anymore then I take it? Retconned out of existence or just forgotten about? I thought maybe I'd seen it before on Forge World but it turns out I was thinking of the Imperial Guard Bombard, that's a helluva gun! ohmy.png

Aww, and here I thought I was on a roll with all these good ideas. Ah well, like Meatloaf used to say, two out of three ain't bad... tongue.pnglaugh.png

By the way Coffeegrunt, how are those sweet Chimeras coming along? Finished any of them yet?smile.png

I'll probably customise him up a fair bit. I've got ideas on how he'll roll, it's just that the armour and weapon loadout suits what I'm going for so well! The Colossus and Bombard are one in the same, confused me until I saw it's called the, "Colossus Bombard," in the Imperial Armour book.

I need to get back round to doing more of those turrets for the Chimeras, actually. I've got one pretty much done, just needs a little oil painting on the barrels of the Autocannons.

Well regardless I look forward to seeing him once he's done, I'm sure he'll look great manning the Ion Mortar with his drone buddies.

They're both the same tank? Well that's confusing, though I suppose it's nice they didn't just retcon it out of the fluff, never to speak of it again.

Wonderful! I eagerly await your Xenotech Chimeras on the Parade Grounds, Gue'vesa'O Coffeegrunt. :)

The Regiment has recently been supplemented with additional air support, in the form of two Vulture Gunships and one WIP Taros-Pattern Pursuit Gunship, (Vendetta counts-as.)

The Gunship still needs a lot of work doing to it, I also decided to make the wings able ot pop out, which makes transport so much easier! It's armed with two Twin-Linked Heavy Rail Rifles, and a Twin-Linked Lascannon to give it a more multi-role look. If I had another Rail Rifle set from the new Broadside kit, I'd like to have tried integrating into into the nose, but the Lascannons do just fine after a bit of cutting and slicing. It's awaiting Sun Shark engines and a couple of other modifications before it'll be considered field-ready. Looking forward to trying out the Elysians list soon with all this.

Also, as Sanguinius was asking, here's how my Chimeras are looking these days. smile.png

Air support, excellent! That Taros-pattern Vendetta looks very promising indeed. I like your idea to replace the wing-mounted Lascannons with Broadside Heavy Railrifles, they look great.

Ahh, my thanks Coffeegrunt, that Chimera looks wonderful. Something about the new turret just makes it seem so new and fresh, lovely stuff.

I've been painting away at one of the Vultures but sadly haven't got any pictures of it on me, as I left it at the local store. However, one of the other regulars has commissioned me to paint him a Thunderbolt in my scheme for him to display, which is pretty flattering! Seeing and painting one of these in the flesh has brought out some serious model envy, here's hoping painting it'll sate that envy so I don't end up killing my wallet to buy one!

I'll try and grab the Vulture later in the week for a photoshoot, quite pleased with how it's progressing, just needs weathering powders to finish it now.

You'll have to get one for yourself to paint up afterwards ;)

I second that, a few Seeker Missiles under the wings, perhaps replace the nose-mounted Lascannons with Rail rifle barrels or maybe add on Devilfish engines at the back, there are a lot of possibilities here. :)

Well, steady progress on the Thunderbolt is being made. Another couple of coats on the base colours, and it'll be ready for washes and highlighting. I had a quick try at a rough non-metallic metal effect on the cones of the jet turbines. It's better when looking at it head-on, practising the technique before I do it on my Covenant fleet for Halo Fleet Battles:

Also, the Vulture is coming along nicely. Just the windows, weathering powders and last details to go! :)
