Terimus
Many of you have probably seen some of my other Primarch conversions, such as Konrad Curze, Alpharius, Perturabo, and a few others. So I was making an inventory of my Space Marines, as I'm going to be converting and repainting a lot of my old chapter into Night Lords, and I found that I had a few extra Terminators around, so I thought, "hey, why not?" So here's the beginnings to Rogal Dorn! http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00042_zps58cddf3f.jpg Storm's Teeth http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00043_zpsbcd39148.jpg Though its not in his rules, he is almost always shown having a power fist/lightning claw, so I thought it'd be nice http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00045_zpsbd8193e1.jpg Shoulder pad and backpack http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00046_zps59d412f9.jpg What do you think B+C? Terimus
I hope I don't let you down Helterskelter, but I decided to stick with a helmet, so no 'stache for this one (cause I cannot paint faces worth a darn but I thought the Emperor's Champion helmet would be quite fitting for the Emperor's most loyal son. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00048_zps94920fdb.jpg And a look at the other, unfinished arm, with the nearly done Storm's Teeth chainsword of hugeness. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00049_zps02c3867c.jpg You'll notice I tried to roughly base the right shoulder, power fist, and chest on this artwork here, which I feel is a wonderful representation of Dorn http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130301143407/es.warhammer40k/images/6/6d/Primarca_Rogal_Dorn_Wikihammer_40k.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292710-rogal-dorn/#findComment-3724241 Share on other sites

Terimus
Nearly done with assembling the bulk of the model! Basically all that is left is some detailing on the armor and the chainsword, then putting him on a base! http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00054_zpsa3ef0599.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00053_zpsd41c3d8b.jpg  And also built the Voice of Terra, Dorn's personal Bolter. I may and probably will add some more details to this as well. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00052_zps5ccc76eb.jpg   Comments? Criticisms? TearsOfTheRaven
Comments: that's awesome. Â Criticism: the power fist/claw arm looks slightly to long, maybe its just the angle of the photos. Ion
I am unsure if you were already going to do this, but might I suggest a gorget or something to cover up his neck some more? It looks a bit too long in the photos as it currently is.. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292710-rogal-dorn/#findComment-3724897 Share on other sites
Terimus
Comments: that's awesome. Criticism: the power fist/claw arm looks slightly to long, maybe its just the angle of the photos. yeah I agree with you on that one, it does seem a bit long. I'll correct that shortly. I am unsure if you were already going to do this, but might I suggest a gorget or something to cover up his neck some more? It looks a bit too long in the photos as it currently is.. I noticed that as well, I'm planning on adding to the the chest plate so it comes up higher. Thanks so much for the ideas and pointers, they're much appreciated. I like to make my work as nice as I can, and I enjoy hearing what you all have to say On that note, should I keep the power fist or try to go for the eagle claw tips like in the picture? Ion
I personally love the HH lightning claw looks, but maybe keeping the fist might be more appropriate for Dorn Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292710-rogal-dorn/#findComment-3725147 Share on other sites
Terimus
I'm getting close on Dorn! I've put him on a base and now I've just gotta get a few more details on him and then paint! The_son_of_Dorn
1st time i have ever seen somone do dorn with a helmet, must say i do like it! chame you cant paint him blue and red as with his scale he would probably look like optimus prime! on a serious note, chainsword looks awesome, but as previosuly stated fist does look a tad to 'long' if not to far from the upper arm.  any plans to add specific insignia to the mini, templar cross/crimson fist badge here or there? hard to to but would add abit more lore to him  apart from that looking awesome fella! Terimus
have you seen my Rogal Dorn i too a different approach . mine was a bit less work . . http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291040-rogal-dorn-modelsconversions/ I can see the appeal for using the Scibor models for Primarchs, but Its never really been my idea to take the easy way. I love a good solid challenge when it comes to converting, and I've been able to do it I feel. The satisfaction of having something you've created entirely from your own mind and a few bits and not someone else's ingenuity is very fun and enjoyable. Rogal Dorn is almost completely done, I've added some purity seals and a Templar symbol and a few extra Fist icons, just as requested Sadly I wont be able to get any pics, I'm leaving for an overnight camp trip in a few minutes, but I wanted to let you all know it should be here in a day or so! Terimus
So He's pretty much done besides paint! He's a look at his cape, decked out with some purity seals, fancy little swirls on the corners, and a Templar symbol in the center http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00055_zps900c942a.jpg  I also added some swirls to his leg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e210/Terimus/DSC00056_zps1616b4e2.jpg  I also just barely did some greenstuff to his neck armor, so once that sets up I'll be able to carve it to look nice. Also trying to figure out what to do to detail the chainblade, it seems a little plain, but the wire swirls werent really working out for it. Any suggestions? Ion
Maybe leave it as is and just paint it as Damascus steel or something equally fancy. I don't think it really needs much considering how big the thing is xD Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292710-rogal-dorn/#findComment-3752546 Share on other sites
Terimus
Boy oh boy, have things been busy! Finally started getting some paint on Dorn! Pretty easy so far, just a lot of heavy drybrushing of gold, which I will probably highlight with a lighter gold to help him stand out a bit more Not sure how I feel about the red eyes though, I may change them to blue or something. http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/ag206/Terimus5/DSC00160_zps3a2f49e0.jpg http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/ag206/Terimus5/DSC00161_zpsa2ceee68.jpg http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/ag206/Terimus5/DSC00162_zps0c8520a6.jpg Thoughts?
