Hate to necro this but a thought just crossed my mind, we've pondered the Angels Exultant getting replaced by Primaris, but what about the Blackjaw Kindred? I'm not asking if the Kindred get replaced, I'm asking how would the Kindred, a Chapter who believe Guilliman was a battle-hungry giant in bronze-and-red armour that literally made the Astartes to be the perfect warriors, react to not only Guilliman returning and being NOTHING like what they thought, but he's created an entirely new breed of super marines that (in theory at least) completely outmatch the originals.

Not well I imagine. :o

Not well I imagine. :ohmy.:

Now there's a curious thought. It could go one of two ways, in my opinion, and neither option is 'good'. First, they could reject this supposedly resurrected Guilliman as the actual Guilliman (this would fall under cognitive dissonance). Second, their faith could/would be shattered and, in such a circumstance, what would happen after that would be anyone's guess. Personally, if option two is used, I'd imagine a religious schism sundering the Kindred as they seek to come to terms with the evident falsehood that at least some of their creed shows. Some may entirely abandon faith in the Emperor, some might seek to reaffirm the rest of their tenets, while some further still might decide to adopt a more mainstream version of the Imperial creed (all depending on circumstance). This, of course, would create friction within the Chapter, I believe.

Actually come to think of it, unless Guilliman himself personally came to the Cluster (which is unlikely given how badly the rest of the Imperium needs his attention) the Kindred might not see that ol'Bobby G isn't the man they thought he was...

While we're on the subject Olis, how do you think the Conflagrators would react to the Primaris? "Emperor-sent gift" sort of viewpoint or more towards the "godless abominations against the Emperor's sacred design" end of the spectrum?

To be honest, given the history of the Chapter both before and after the reclamation, the Kindred might be the only Chapter of the Cluster who doesn't get any Primaris reinforcements.

For one thing in particular, because the Kindred have openly betrayed the Imperium, while the Angels' fall is a closely held secret.

Ooo, what about the extra drama of one of the new Primaris chapters taking up the name and colours of the Sons of Calderon? Undisputedly the most well-liked and fondly-remembered of the lost Liberite chapters, the Primaris attempting to claim that legacy could spark some major outrage and animosity towards Guilliman's new boys. It might even cause chapters that might've otherwise accepted the Primaris reinforcements to reject them outright, especially if Brother Ashwin is still alive to see it (although he'd probably be a Dread by this point).

Gritting his teeth in pain and bitter anger, stained red with blood streaming across his face, Captain Emmenrich surveyed the wreckage beyond the smoldering bridge. Breathing heavily and pulling himself up on a console, his uniform snags and tears on a nearby piece of jagged metal. He wasn't the only one still alive after the intense barrage, but a mere few were only now dragging themselves to their feet.

The console paints a grim picture. The escorts such as his own Bladed Soul are either shattered or dead in the void. The Mechanicus vessels are scarred but still operable, but had been overwhelmed by the enemy boarding parties. Emmenrich seethes in frustration at how easily the enemy ships had handled their fleet, lying in wait at one of their scheduled stops, ready to fire as soon as they dropped from the Warp.

One vox link remains open, the small amber light blinking, to the Valiant Rule. The biologis vessel contained the gene-stores meant for the Liberite chapters, including the means to rebuild the long lost Sons of Calderon. The ship had gone silent minutes after several assault rams penetrated its hull. Breathing heavily from his wounds, the captain slaps at the link to send one last message to the captors that may not even hear.

"The Imperium will not forgive or forget this theft."

There's a long pause, background static emitting from the speakers before a deep, male voice comes across.

"This is not theft. This is reclamation."

And so the first and largest of the supply of the primaris gene-strain to the Liber Cluster was lost to the Imperium.

The Liberalia Martiale is in just under one week's time, on March 17th. In celebration of that day I will be returning to this project more fully by introducing the Liber Cluster II thread.

As such, it is time to formally close this thread.
