Hmm... I think we can safely put this down to what those in IT refer to as PEBKAC on my part :D

I saw no way to 'import' a file in BattleScribe (only paste a link, but the Dropbox one didn't work) and iPhones don't really work as an accessible drive in the traditional way (except with an app maybe).

Anyway it worked fine, when you update it I'll try it how Brother Lemartes did it!

Just got this error after downloading on my pc, but i think it might be from me having it saved in two different places or something?

Details:

There were some problems with your data files. If you continue, this may lead to crashes or other strange behaviour.

> Blood Angels: Codex (2014) v39: The catalogue data file is invalid:

> Blood Angels: Codex (2014) v39: The catalogue data file is invalid:

> net.battlescribe.model.catalogue.Condition@838570: Condition must have a child that exists

> net.battlescribe.model.catalogue.Condition@10b7a3f: Condition must have a child that exists

And it says the that about a million more times lol, but i just closed it and it seems to be working fine!

When you click into 'manage data' there should be a three-dot symbol in the top right corner: that's your drop down menu where it will have your import options. It really does look like there's only a link to add but it should be there if you're running the current version of Battlescribe.

I got something similar when opening a list that had Baal Preds and Vindicators in because the structure of those entries has changed to add a level for squadrons. I just needed to add the tanks back in under the squadrons.

If you're trying to open a roster you made with a previous (not mine) edition of the BA catalogue you'll get errors galore but you should be able to just mosey on through and re-add anything that was deleted (because it doesn't exist that way in the catalogue anymore). I'm not even allowed to save the work I'm doing if there's coding errors so this issue is in all likelihood just Battlescribe being all "you're not using the same catalogue as you used to create this roster, this is what's different".

As for the Scouts, you should be able to click into them and add them as normal...somehow I added an extra layer to that entry that was wholly unnecessary. Added to the 'to fix' list.

Keep the feedback coming guys, no issue too small (as long as it doesn't involve FW stuff).

I've spent the last hour trying to get my Blood Angels file back. I get the following message whenever I try to make a new roster:

  • Details:

  • .......more of the same continued

Does anyone have the file: Blood Angels: Codex (2014) v39.catz?
The Angel's Blade file does not work for me and try as I might, I can't get blood angels anything to work without that file.
If someone could please send it to matthew @ matthewcampbell.com I'd really appreciate it.

As you all know, I really should have backed up my datascribe files before trying to install something new. Now battlescribe won't do Blood Angels at all and deleting it and then redownloading it isn't resolving the problem.

Edited to shorten the repetitive error code.

i have the relics, Tyriks.

Alurie, I got the same message and thought it wouldn't let me past. What you have to do is click okay and then cancel, and it should make the list anyway...

Edited by Brother Lemartes

@Tyriks, go up to the top of your roster and change <Relics and Detachment-rules> from Codex: Blood Angels to Angel's Blade.

@aluriel to reset your data you have to clear it all first. In this screen, click the X next to your linked-in repository.

Then click the top right area where the three dots are and this will pop up:

Delete all data is what you need. Then search back up your previous repositories and all will be well.

When I'm done the next update I'll post it with explicit instructions that will hopefully alleviate some of the issues people are having.

Thanks for your patience!

Just a heads up, Battlescribe may overwrite the files (particularly the WH40k file) on update. Or if the version numbers are changed, ignore updates and potentially break all the other codexes.

I've actually got the entire thing already complete in the BS2 alpha, so if you need any assistance just let me know.

The sync thing is why it's normally handled through github. If that's no longer being maintained, I'd possibly be able to take a look.

It's a little messed up, as the data structure is a little different and so doesn't port between v1 and v2. There's the main repo - /wh40k - and what I think is a scratch repo - /wh40kbs2 - that's carrying the v2 changes.

I ended up grabbing the main data files and just adding a new 'Red Thirst edition' codex, so I'd imagine they're now incompatible with both of those.

I *think* these files should be sufficient - just copy them into the 'Warhammer 40,000 7th Edition' folder wherever BS2 keeps its data:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/eua1ov9rmrpt5vn/AAAuFNT2oW8zpCa6MVNQr0lia?dl=0

I've only used this on desktop so far, so can't vouch for how it'll work elsewhere.

Amazing! So happy you've gotten this all put together! Already made a list that included the Lost Brotherhood Strike Force decuruon and the Golden Host formation and it worked perfectly. Thanks again for all your hard work, brother!

@Taeknologik there doesn't seem to be a function to load data from storage in BS2 on my phone and I can't seem to find a desktop version to download. Will keep at it though.

As for the rest of you...

Codex Update (fixed 10th Company, Assault squads, added rules for Strike Forces under Core choices)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/l2wip4v7rfdq1ut/Blood_Angels_Codex_%282014%29%20Angel%27s%20Blade%20v.1.catz?dl=0

Detachment update (nothing changed from the last one, included for completeness)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/vmezaalpyv35mrd/Warhammer40K.gstz?dl=0

I documented me putting these files into use, hopefully it can help people with the process.

Download files from links. Do not try and copy the link into your repository. That is not how this file is made to work.

Click the download icon in the top right corner.

Select Direct Download.

29821418436_0e4f78e2a4_n.jpg

Close your browser, check to see that both files have downloaded. Open Battlescribe and go to where you manage your data, click the three dots in the top right corner to open the options menu.

29809087996_26576c2295_n.jpg

Click import data from storage.

29551646990_f1df2d60b9_n.jpg

There should only be two options (there's only one on mine because I had already clicked one). Click the download icon to the right of the file.

29230356663_62dace95c2_n.jpg

That's it. A little popup should tell you data has been successfully imported and you're good to go. If you try and open a roster that was created with a different or previous version of your current data file, you'll likely get some nonsense that looks like this (nonsense may vary, point is something is telling you things aren't right). Don't worry. Click continue.

29821413416_1580cba5ef_n.jpg

There will likely be a host of things wrong with your list. You never know what's been changed in an update and whole units or merely wargear may be invalidated. You may not have any entries in your roster effected by the data update because no units you're using were edited. Either way, click up where the red exclamation point is and find out what's up to fix it.

In my instance, I had edited the DC Chaplain entry and this showed up. As I clicked the check marks next to the now invalid wargear options they disappeared and I was left with an error free list.

Enjoy!

Ah, OK. In general, the idea is to make as much a 'shared entry' as possible, then you don't have to repeat formations / units / wargear and get into a mess if any of them change.

It appears the main repo has been updated with the formations / units, so if people do a full refresh of the data they should see them.

It's not as detailed as the implementations here, and a lot of the other changes are missing, but it does mean the formations are now present in the main WH40k file and so updating the codex is less problematic.

I wanted to get it into the repositories on github but I couldn't figure it out. Do you know how to do it? I would gladly share this stuff.

You'd want to fork the main repository, which preserves the upstream changes, and make your edits in your fork, which you then push back into the main repo.

If you're not hugely familiar with github and version control this can be a little confusing.

It also seems a lot of the basics have already been done to the main repo, so you'd kinda have to discard what you've already done and then pick up anything missing in the new files.

I'm keeping an eye on the repo to check when it quiets down, and have dropped the peeps a note about whether it is being maintained in the future (ie. outstanding FAQ changes, scouts etc)

Glad someone did a more public BA one! If I could have figured out that github crap I'd have posted mine. Ah well.

At least now I know how to adjust my own repositories to suit my preferences. No more waiting on updates for this guy.
