PsyCrows WIP Small Update 4/12 Test fig done yay!

Here are a few shots of some Marble bases I painted. I rushed the red and when I painted on the gloss coat it brought up a previous layer, you can see around the edges and near the pin hole.

I don't actually have any thing planned for them as all my bases for my ravens are simple grey so they all match but I'm getting an itch to paint something green and something yellow so they might get some Sallies or Lamenters at some point.

Back with more base. Been working on some stuff which isn't board appropriate. Tonight, however, I started to work on some figures that are and I intend to force myself to update every night till its come to fruition (love that word).

Nothing special, some marble and some wasteland. If like me you are not able to afford all those fancy base materials the pros use, then this might be of use to you.

Cheap clay, cost £3.00, 20ps worth used

Sand, free (its everywhere, open your eyes)

Slate, free (got mine out the garden but any small stones will do)

Wood Glue (most expensive at £6 but that will get you a big bottle and you are golden for awhile)

Brush bristles (£1 at a carboot sale, a big brush with natural bristles, a bit more work to use than those premade tufts you see, and if I'm completely honest, not as natural looking but again, nice and cheap)

Wanting my ego massaged? probably, but its also to force to me to finish. If anyone is interested in how I made these exactly I'd be happy to whip up another couple with step by step pics at the end of this project.

Cheers mate, although they could probably do with some pigments ;) You're progress has me feeling I'm slacking, so I'm knuckling down.

How did yours turn out? did that fixer dry in the end?

Bolter Pfist dude loks a bit wonky but the blue tack has him a bit off, he'll look better in the morning :)

Lol, yeah I've had the Death Company box a little too long now, I'm putting these together as a gift for a friend. I must say though the kit is rather nice, I'm tempted to keep these and put 1000 points together.

@Deathspectersgt We'll see how it goes. I've just had my shifts moved to day so now it will be nightly updates. Got a long night ahead of mold lines.

@KnightoftheRaven First things first, loving the name smile.png I'm a sucker for any figures bird related. Thanks for the kind words. Yeah they are a lovely kit apart from a couple of issues with gems and cups. I've already snapped 2. Doh!

Although I have reserved a few feathery pieces for my Raven Guard. I just need to figure out what to put them on. Honor Guard with drop pod springs to mind.

Ok so now its the boring part, mold lines. I did, however, make a promise to myself to update everyday and that is what I will do. About a 1/5 into scraping and sanding so this pic is just to confirm that I finished the other 2 bolter dudes.

And just to spice things up, in homage to the mighty Joshua Howdeshell from JahMinis, I'm posting this for Throwback Thursday. Possibly the oldest mini I own, from 1987, a very old captain. I have an idea for him but I need to chat to a mod on here before I post about it.

one question though ..do you use the stanley knife for mould line cleanup ?if so i would highly recommend using a smaller bladed knife to get more control.

@Daemonclaw, Thanks dude, If I ever pluck up the courage to sculpt I'll definitely be stealing from you. The stanley knife is for the big chunks left from clipping, I use files and 600grade sandpaper for flash and surfaces

@Luthermax, Thanks for the tip dude, I'll check it out.

So a fancy restaurant led me to break my daily post but progress has been made.

The 5 broken down marines are all cleaned and the pads/bling. Just 5 more to go

And a little tester for the slabs of marble

So I've managed to contract the dreaded winter flu and have been holed up for a couple of days. Mrs told me to rest today but we can't have that whilst there is power armour to paint.

Not very interesting yet but everything is cleaned, trimmed, cleaned again (you'd be surprised how much grease get rubs off from our hands) and finally mounted. Can't prime today though, bloomin cold and rain grrr

@Luthermax, yeah I'd hoped to use them up. I thought if I covered them in bling nobody would notice but I think your right. I've swapped them out and added more bits of bling to jazz up the regular pads.

@Daemonclaw, Your kind words have made my day. Cheers mate :)
