The chaos half of the black templar battle box is emperors children right?

What is that battle box you are talking about?

I heard with psychic awakening the next box coming out was black templars and chaos followed by blood angels and tyranids. I heard the chaos half of the BT is emperors children themed. Sorry if battlebox was the wrong word, that's what I've always called the boxes with two armies.

Well that's a bummer then, my bad. I saw multiple things about it a little while back, maybe it was all hoopla. My friend who has been pretty spot on with the stuff said he saw stuff for it to. But I guess not.
I might grab pa2 for the new strategems, they're definitely useful, but I've been mostly waiting to see if the rumors of 2 wounds in the CA pan out. Otherwise I'm turning my attention to the new sisters box soon.

Nah, there were rumours about an EC vs BT box very briefly a month ago, but it was a one-off out of nowhere that was only posted on BoLS/SpikeyBits, and so nobody took it/them seriously.

The long wait for EC models is set to continue for a while yet I'm afraid

The core of my army has been 2 12-man noise marine squads, so I don't intend to convert up any more just now.  However, I am looking forward to the new noise marine - dark apostle interaction, and will be painting up on of the recent "retro noise marine" with guitar release to be that dark apostle.  I do already have a painted dark apostle (the dark vengeance marine with the mace) and have purchased the new dark apostle with disciples, but the guitar marine seems so appropriate to babysit the noise marines.  That reminds me... I need to convert some disciples to go with him... any suggestions for "rock start groupie" disciples?

I have a slaaneshi daemon army that I will be using alongside my EC, so I think that would generate confusion.

I'm thinking of instead converting a couple of walking speakers out of the spindle drones that I got from my Servants of the Abyss box.

Yep, he's the guy I was going to use as an EC priest, especially with the new relic. The walking speaker is a good idea. I've got a lounging demon from Hasslefree miniatures that I was planning to have as a groupie.

How big is the chance the new rules from PA2 will make it into this year's Chapter Approved? Or a CSM Codex 3.0? the Vigilus stuff got added to 2.0 iirc...

Am I really going to have to buy this book for the 4 pages of useful content?

Am I really going to have to buy this book for the 4 pages of useful content?

Yes. If it's only 4 pages of useful content for you that's unfortunate but in GWs eyes it's a codex supplement not a subfaction supplement so there's a lot more useful content plus the whole fluff section.

If your not happy about it vote with your wallet, the rules will be online the same day anyway if you look hard enough.

Finished painting my shadowspear venomcrawler for my emperor's children (still needs basing, though).

It's a fun model to paint and doesn't look too bad in purple and gold.

My only real complaints with the model are:

1.  Its really easy to bend and break the spines on the top; and

2.  There isn't any nice place to put army iconography.  My army symbol is red scales on a white background, and there is no real place I can see putting it without it looking crowded and busy.

As per the leaked point changes in this year's Chapter Approved (http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358395-chaos-vs-new-marines/?p=5437642), noise marines are getting 2 points cheaper and blastmasters 8 points.  Between that, 4 point cultists, and the new Emperor's Children options in Faith and Fury, I'm quite excited to start gaming with my EC's again - I have 2 x 12 noise marine squads with sonic blasters and blastmasters that are both 40 points cheaper, which is enough for 10 more cultists.

That said, I never felt that blastmasters were overcosted - if anything, I would have dropped sonic blasters by a point.

I'd rather have had a points drop on the sonic blasters as well, but my helbrute welcomes the change!

104 points for a helbrute with two blastmasters and a missile launcher, he is a mainstay in my lists and always gets the job done doublefiring at the closest unit, sometimes I clear out another unit first, most of the time he just switches the weapons profiles to suit the target. :)

186 for 10 noise marines with 8 Sonic Blasters, 2 Blastmasters and a Doom Siren is great as well, I usually run three squads like this, now I'm looking at trying to run an EC brigade with noise marines and blastmaster helbrutes

Yes, brigade seems feasable with all the reductions.

I'm thinking about a 20 men full sonic blasters/blastmasters (wish we could take 4 in a 20 men squad, but you cannot have everything), buffed to r5 if needed. Then it's 4 cp per turn to unleash some sound punishment. Then auxiliary 5 men squads with blastmasters. Sonic dread is the cheapest option to bring 2 blastmasters.. -16 pointer is something.

I am also thinking about a solid deep strike option of some kind, I am a bit undecided. I want some as a scare tactic to lessen my opponent options.

The anti deep strike infiltrators are some fine targets for first turn sonic barrage and music of the apocalypse.

The point drop on Blastmasters is crazy good, and wasn't really necessary. What was needed was Sonic Blasters going down to 2 pts.  Still EC have got some great potential now. A Sonic Dread is 104 pts if you take the default fist and 2 Blastmasters; or 109 with a power scourge.  I'm still not interested in getting cultists but taking 10X CSM with 2X Reaper Chain Cannons for 150 pts seems pretty solid.

The blastmaster became overcosted with excruciating frequencies IMO. Otherwise it gets out performed except when shooting vehicles. I also noticed that mutliple NM are harder to justify since their damage output is low without the strat on the second unit (I only run 2) so I think this might be the other reason for the discount.

I made a list with the new PA stuff I liked and thought was strong and I’d like to see what you guys think of it and if it’s missing anything to be in a semi-competitive setting.

The idea is to have the Lord babysit the 20 sonic blaster noise marines. They stay midfield or something like that and blast off everything with excruciating frequencies (1CP), endless cacophony (2CP) and veterans of the long war (1CP) if needed. For 4 CP they get 120 s5 dmg2 hitting on 3’s +1 to  wound.  Destroys a knight in one turn or 26 primaris. You can even redeploy for 1CP for maximum efficiency.

The two other squads sit on objective and finish off the big guys from a distance with the blastmasters.

One of the warp talons squads in the raptorial host get +1 A for 2CP.  The herald with histerical frenzy goes in reserve for 1CP. In optimal conditions you get them to deepstrike together with the jump pack lord for the +2” on the warptalons. If the charge isn’t enough by it’s self honour the prince should get the job done for 1CP. +1 S from the herald gets you 41 3+ S5 dmg 1 reroll all wounds attacks One the charge and 71 next turn with Histerical frenzy. Plus you still have the other squad.

The jump pack lord explains itself I think, 4  3+ power fist attacks, rerolling all hit, wounds and charge rolls whit +2” on the charge

sorcerer jumps around giving delightfull agonies and prescience to what needs it ( noise marines and Warptalons mostly)

deamon prince runs around with demonette meatshield advacning and charging while the herald gives a bit of protection.

Possessed just because I had extra points and I thought they would benefit from both the Marines  bonus and the Deamons bonus

I don’t have nearly enough model to field this but I had fun making it.

What do you guys think of a 10 man termy unit.

Give them T5.

Can be pretty durable if you give them 5+++ as well. DS in, almost a guaranteed charge as well. Could be fun!

Why do that when the more slaaneshi thing would be to give them a 7" move?
