So, massively inspired by the Baalite Bake-Off, I've come up with this guy...

Question is, do I defend the walls of Terra in 30k? Or defend Baal from the Tyranids in 40k?

It's the first model I've made in years that I'm 100% happy with - I think I've finally found my Legion/Chapter...

Love this kitbash! Had never considered the DC Chaplain winged pack on anything else - it looks great!

That actually looks like a great start for an Azkaellon!

As in 6 tactical squads, 2 assault squads, 2 devestator squads, a captain, and sundry dreadnoughts? Go for it if you really want. That's a super bad list though.

I assume he means the Formation from our codex.

It does get Obsec on all the troop choices and has transports, death company etc.

Whilst not super competitive, it's good fun and I've won games with it when my opponents haven't been using minimax WAAC lists.

Couldn't that be Azkellon himself? All wet know is that he was the head of the guard in 30k, they all died but him, and he remoulded the 40k sanguinary guard in his image.

Did he remold it in his image or just rebuild it? After all, he was the head of the Sanguinary Guard, so it's likely it's literally the exact same.

Both. Current codex states that there was an original sanguinary guard that all died in Horus's ship save Azkellon. Azkellon then remade the sanguinary guard, and "from him they drew their traditional garb and weapons".

To me,it strongly suggests that not all Sanguinary guard were armed and equipped the same during the heresy.

This. We were talking about it at the FLGS last week. How cool it would look on the table, it is definitely meant as a fun game.

Nice point. Would be very cool for them to be quite different in 30k.

I think it was hinted at in the angelus video posted earlier. We would see BA characters; which makes me think Azkaellon and Amit.

It all depends on the conflicts and campaigns they show in the book.

Just having a little read up on Signus and it seems all three of the big boys are present:

Amit, Azkellion & Raldoron.

Now, due to his known aptitude as a total crotch-smasher among all the Legions, I'd quite like Raldoron to get some time... He is first captain and is compared to the likes of Sigismund, Abaddon & Sevatar... But also has a very calm personality and fluid command style compared to those guys. He's the quintessential space marine captain.

There is a great little triad story for these three where (spoilers for some heresy books):

On Signus Amit falls to the Red thirst with his men and kills the Wolves watch pack sent to keep an eye on Sanguinius. He tells this to Raldoron and expects punishment. Azkellion actually then forbids it, as he has already told Sanguinius it was Daemons who killed the wolves as he knew that Sanguinius would feel personally responsible and risk bringing Prospero's fate to Baal.... He knows that legion ties need to be kept closer than ever. Amit is mad at this as he wants to atone but Azkellion tells him that it is 'His Burden to bear'.

So yeah, actually it's down to these three that we probably didn't get squatted as a Legion perhaps... :o

Has anyone attempted a White Lions of Chrace Lion Pelt onto one of their Characters before? I can't find any Tiranoc Chariot//White Lion Chariot bits on the interwebz to save my life, and would like to see if someone else has had success with the conversion before going all in and paying for one or two.

I'm going to go ahead and convert Angron into a "Death Company" Guilliman sometime this week... Looking for some kitbash suggestions on the following "challenges" before I resort to greenstuff...

-The head: normal marine helmets seem a tad small on his giant body.

-Weapons: again, normal blades are a bit bitty.

-Paint scheme on the falling MKVIII marines he's slicing, now that those marines are being portrayed as traitors..

Greatly appreciated!

Ynnari beast star is no joke :sad.:

Such a huge footprint. Huge bubble wrap, and so many attacks at I6...why in the world power from death exist is beyond me.

Yay...another broken deathstar list. Please kill me.

Can we at least give it some riddiculous name like the bark-bark-star to make fun of it?

It is rather savage. Especially for only 100-120 points before adding HQs such as an Autarch with banshee mask to stop overwatch and farseer for shenanigans surrounded by 40mm bases. And like 40+ S4 I6 attacks. And then if you kill it a huge avatar pops out and eats your Libby dread in the following turn.

RIP.

Slowly I really begin to hope that we adapt the AoS thing of characters not being able to join units. Imo Deathstars should be a thing that allows you to throw a brick at your opponents models. :D

Although that specific Deathstar practically calls for an apocalyptic blast from 3 Vindicator. :P

They're Daemons so it doesn't matter. They always have a 5++ often times re-rollable against everything not SD. ;(

And then they have the lone space ape to punch face or hell doves because 4 S3 rending attacks (before charge) at I5 needs to be a thing.

Ynnari beast star is no joke :(

This is why my BA are on hold right now. Playing the LBSF/DCSF was just about the only thing I had found that felt like I had a chance (at least in my meta, which is mostly eldar and Tau) and losing whole DC squads to shooting from troops in my own assault phase was just too much. Or actually getting into combat just to take a handful of s6 ap2 hits at initiative 7+. In a 2000 point game, all I managed to do was wreck a couple transports, kill a squad of fire dragons and Dante killed the Yncarne. So they can sit on the back burner for now.

I.. knew that..

I feel you. I honestly have my hopes set on 8e. Being able to strike first when charging is awesome and they could easily get rid of deathstars if they adapt the AoS thing of characters not being able to join units which i tend to like more and more. :P

Just ordered another 2 frag cannons for my Fragioso army.

I had good succes with the Chapter Acients Formation and plan to bring in 6 Fragiosos in one of my next Tournament lists.

You can read my reports about the last tournament with the fragiosos here. (old report)
