So shadow war is pretty fun. Played some learning games. Eldar Harliquins are *real* tough.

You definitely want a Heavy Bolter(s) sitting on overwatch for Dakka. Snipers have good range as well but only 2-3 since they can't move and shoot. Shotgun scavengers seem to be the best bang for your buck. But two melee weapons aren't terrible.

Also I've talked to a couple of the consistent players (also read reliable) generals to continue escalation league. It's just been pushed back a week.

I had to work the Friday and Monday of this bank holiday weekend but thanks to the typical crappy UK Easter weather I did get time to finish my second tactical squad – 'Lorenzo'!

More / bigger pics in my WIP thread / on my blog...

Also, while I was doing these guys I did a couple of alternative sergeants with magnetised weapons. Which one do you guys think is the best?!

(P.S. I will be doing some text on the banner, forgot about it before taking the pics!)

Bloodied Hell, top work as always Luther. They look straight out of the fluff.

Also, fun bit of info from Inferno. In one of the premier outings of the Ordo Sinister Psi-Titans, full third of the Blood Angels Legion is deployed to fight off a craft world. They have a crazy warlock titan that hits Sanguinius with its psychic spear, an attack that "no other could have survived".

Nice comment on our Lords resilience.

Oh, and he rips open an Eldar titans head with his BARE HANDS.

Fantastic. The non-standard BA heads look real gritty and awesome.

Also a fan of these. I'd like to get some myself. I know I've seen them, just can't remember where. Any chance of a pointer?

Left and right ones are from the Sternguard kit, middle one is a Centurion. To be honest every marine kit has plenty of heads like these - the BA kit ones can be a bit... flowery! :D

Definitely the guy with the banner. The sergeant model in the group shot looks...Smaller than the rest of the marines? Not fitting for the leader!

Judge not a man by his size! Just look at Lionel Messi - or Yoda! :D

Well I jumped the gun and assembled the legs.. still some highlighting to be done but pretty happy with how the it came out overall..

That's not how marines work though, where size is proportional to rank

Quick question. About how long does it take everyone to paint roughly 500 points? Is it dependent on what the models are? Obviously highlighting etc. Takes more time.

I'm on week 2 of a 5 man Tactical Squad, and I still have a Dreadnought and Drop pod left to paint. I have been trying to paint at least 30 minutes a day.

In months or years? :D

Takes me ages to paint stuff. What I've done recently though (not really planned), is get a whole bunch of stuff base coated in the main one or two colours (an airbrush helps massively here). Then whatever unit you pick up only takes a small amount of work to complete, so you can crank them out - relatively speaking.

If you're going to paint, I find the minimum to invest is an hour - unless of course it's a very small part!

Paint when you can spent a couple hours and get a solid "step" of the work done: One colour, all base colours, washing an entire squad, all the red hilights etc

Agreed. I figured out it takes me about an hour to take a base coated marine to a finished marine. Since then I've made sure I have at least an hour when I sit down to paint, and that has made me more efficient.

Also, something that is very hard to learn to do... Don't judge the mini's quality until it is finished.

With just base colours on it'll look weird, after a wash it may even look dull.

It's not until that first/ second highlight pass that it all starts to come together :)

I've been assembly line painting. I have 5 Tactical man's painted up to where primer is showing only on flash. I paint each Marine to the same level so all red then seals& tabbards etc. Flesh then helmets and I do arms and weapons last usually.

Right now I'm working on the helmets which takes longer since I'm having to paint up to white. I was just curious. I'm very envious of people that paint to a high quality quickly!

I paint to a very average quality and slowly :biggrin.:

Finally sorting things out in my new abode so I'm hoping to find time to get back to painting Blood Angels again. I've made a list with the Archangels OIF so I need to get painting to use it!
