Soup is good when its done to be fluffy, so I propose they make it legal only in narrative gaming, a mode of play where, one would hope at least, players aren't trying to break the game.

I think soup is fine. The problem is allowing the CP battery, the use of multiple war gear items, etc.

I think a soup list the "allied force" should be restricted in what it can use CP-wise. For instance, maybe limiting the total CP that can be used to a percentage, or only allowing CPs generated by that detachment. I also think that only the main army should be able to use wargear. If a detachment wants to then they should have to pay a penalty, 1 or more CP like the usual stratagem.

In the end though, I like being able to play a points/PL game vs. opponents and running something like Guard with an inquisitor, or Blood Angels and Dark Angels. The loop holes just need to be closed.

I'd like to repeat my original assumption of how the whole Stratagem thing would work before everything got revealed.

Stratagems for the Imperium faction Keyword, Stratagems for the Adeptus Astartes faction Keyword, Stratagems for the Blood Angels/Space Wolves/etc faction Keyword.

Play a mono Blood Angels army and you get access to all three sets. Play an army consisting of a mix of different Marine Chapters and you get access to only the top two sets. Play an army consisting of Marines and Astra Militarum and you get access to only the Imperium Stratagems.

That could get extended to relics and Warlord traits as well.

That alone would do alot to redeem the soup problem already imo.

Are there any <IMPERIUM> stratagems? I know there are <ASTARTES> strats, but they are repeated in each codex for completeness and I would imagine to stop double dipping and using them more than once per turn, eg using hellfire shells once each from multiple chapters per turn like BA, DA and UM. No there aren't.

And what I mainly am talking about is the restriction to have only access to the set of Stratagems your WHOLE army shares a faction keyword with, so while Astartes Stratagems theoretically exist, they don't work the way I mentioned at all.

Sorry I misunderstood.

Edit: I had a thought of a similar vain, CP generated by any particular detachment could be limited to being spent on the faction of the detachment is made up of. Personally if I were running a tournament, I'd just comp the :cuss out of soup builds to level l the playing field, but I don't even play tournaments, let alon run them, mainly because I can't stand reading the :cuss ing cheesy, unfluffy tripe lists that people use.

So a guy at the FLGS gave me 5 sanguinary guard that he assembled. I've spent the afternoon trying to rescue them as best as I can. So free SGs will be posted in my log soon.

On a second note; My kitbashed possible counts as Mephiston is waiting to be primed. Do I paint the power armor red or blue?

Thoughts?

I paint my librarians red anyway (like all my specialists), I don't want them getting mistaken for Ultras. :tongue.:

I only paint the helmet in blue (for librarians) or white (Sanguinary priests/novitiates).
