Slips
Here's the good picture! Very little changed, just Oaths and a few straps here and there that I forgot when I snapped the first picture. Kor'Vesh
October Casual challenge – Post-mortem Well after one month of hobby activity, October’s hobby challenge has come to an end. The final week began, as usual, with another strong showing from Atia for the traitors, completing both a whirlwind and vindicator for her stunning Death Guard army. However, from then on the followers of Horus were surprisingly quite, and the Loyalist surge began… At the end of week 3, things were looking bleak for the Loyalists, with the traitors holding a narrow 4 point lead. Final Standings Pledges Both Atia and Barabbas Sogolon completed their second pledges in the final week, for the traitors and loyalists respectively. However, the traitors saw no more pledge completions this week. In contrast Mind of Metal, StruManChu and Slipstreams completed loyalist pledges, which means: Loyalists 5 : 3 Traitors Loyalist victory! Score First a reminder of the scoring system: Infantry - 1 point; Large Infantry (termies, bikes etc.) - 2 points; Monstrous infantry - 3 points; Vehicles - 6 points; Lord of War - 10 points. A lot of loyalist completions this week, but a huge mention has to go to Slipstreams, who finished 44 points of models this week! That is even more than Atia managed this month, who added 12 points to her previous 20 this week! So, the final scores are: Loyalists - 43 models completed, worth 89 points Traitors – 20 models completed, worth 48 points Another Loyalist Win! Progress For the final week, I thought I’d review everyone’s progress and contribution. First up Team Horus. The Traitors - followers of Horus - the heretics, followers of the warp (10 members) The Oath Keepers: Atia - Death Guard and Mechanicum –XIV: What can I say? The hero of the traitor’s cause. Atia single handedly painted 32 points worth of models, completed two pledges, and took the battle to the loyalists right to the end. She completed Her death guard vehicles with speed and fantastic weathering – check them out if you haven’t seen. Well done Atia! StruManChu – World Eaters – XII: Painted his glorious Praetor for the Traitor cause. Stru acted as the Alpharius of October’s challenge, pledging and completing vows for both sides! The Battle Brothers: Thunor's Hammer - The Infernal Guard: An awesome alt-heresy project, which saw a good deal of progress in October. Thunor’s Hammer earned four points for the traitors cause with his Volkite caliver equipped marines, though a number more were nearing completion. Brother Vidius - Iron Warriors – IV: Entered the fray later in the competition, providing Atia with some crucial support in the Siege on Terra. Painted 7 breachers with some exceptional hazard striped shields. Wyvern - World Eaters – XII: Based the vow from September’s challenge, earning a few nice points for the traitors cause. Began work on a dynamic Apothecary conversion, which was unfortunately unfinished before the end of October. Tears of the Raven - Traitor Raven Guard – XIX: Made some nice progress on his traitorous raven guard infantry, which feature some nice free-hand tribal markings. However, Tears’ vow fell foul of a land raider in the final week. The Neophytes: Fire Golem - The Sons of Horus and Alpha Legion - XVI and XX: Fire Golem settled on his legion this month, and began painting his Sons of Horus with a simple strong scheme. Real life got in the way by the end of the month, so we saw no completions, but hopefully he’ll be back for November with some more progress. Bulbafist - Iron Warriors – IV: Bulbafist has worked away steadily on his lovingly converted Breachers. While we haven’t seen pictures of progress in a while, we all await the completion of these guys with quiet anticipation! The Missing: Assumed lost on the sands of Isstvan. Daemon2027 - Sons of Horus and Mechanicum - XVI Betrayer41 - World Eaters - XII Excessus - Alpha Legion - XX The Loyalists - beloved of the Emperor - the loyal sons (11 members) The Oath Keepers: Slipstreams - Imperial Fists – VII: As already mentioned, Slipstreams performed admirably in October. After a sluggish start, the call of a local campaign triggered a painting frenzy which saw the completion of 10 Catapractii, 10 Templars, Sigismund, and Apotecary and two Contemptors. This was a HUGE effort, and the entire reason for the magnitude of the loyalist victory in the points game. StruManChu - Imperial Fists – VII: As Slipstreams’ Fists formed the hammerblow of the final loyalist assaults, Stru’s fists held the walls if Terra throughout the challenge. Stru completed a unit of seekers a rhino and Achilles Alpha over the month, with a fantastic wash-based yellow. He may have been Alpharius, but this month he was our Alpharius! Mind of Metal – Mechanicum: Quiet for a while, and then BLAM – week 4 two completed Catellax appear, with a lovely paint job. Big points and a big contribution from our Mechanicum allies. Barabbus Sogolon - The VIII Legion - pre- Kurze Night Lords – VIII: Followed the simple mantra, promise a small amount and over deliver! Barabbus vowed a simple preator, and converted a beastly model with a lovely scheme. He then backed himself for a second vow, and finished a lovely centurion in week 4. The keystone of the loyalist pledge win – he delivered in style. The Battle Brothers: While the fists took the victory for the loyalists, it was the Salamanders who sacrificed themselves on the brutal guns of the Death guard to hold them at bay. No pledges for the XVIII, but we did paint some stuff! Frozen Foods - Salamanders – XVIII: Worked hard throughout the month constantly, and produced a couple of praetors and dreadnoughts for Vulkan’s legion. A great contribution to the cause. Castiel - Salamanders – XVIII: Despite a battle with a lamp, Castiel still completed three of his breacher squad, and continues to plug away with his XVIII. Kor'Vesh - Salamanders – XVIII: Well, I started well, completing three Pyroclasts in the first two weeks, but then got hit by a dose of real life, ruining my hopes of pledge completion. The Neophytes: Reyner - Loyalist Iron Warriors – IV: Reyner may not have painted anything, but boy, he threatened to! That Sicaran remains fearful of being attacked by his paint brushes! One eye - White Scars – V: We saw an early update on his Sicaran, but sadly nothing more from this awesome painter… maybe next month? Russ Brother 92 - Iron Hands – X: Declared failure in week 2, but he did declare it, and watched us to the end. The Missing: Assumed lost on the sands of Isstvan. Daismith906 - Dark Angels – I d@n - Iron Hands – X Well, that’s it guys. Thank you all for an awesome month!
