Casual 30k Hobby Challange. Month 2

Fire Golem

BnC really is a great forum, awesome advice and encouragement all around guys.

I tend to think that getting nice solid and smooth base colours on you model, followed by a wash or two will always produce decent results. Washes are awesome for masking slight untidiness too, and really bring out the detail of FW models. Get stuck in Fire Golem, we'll all help you if we can.

Anyone have some nice SoH paint schemes? They are one of those legions I'm complete unsure how to paint.

StruManChu - I really love that imperial fist. One day I have to learn to do a weathering and battle damage, and paint a detachment that way!

I did start a thread on it a while ago and there were good suggestions, but I can't afford to get every paint to try every suggestion (well I could but that would mean no models this month :P) so I don't really know where to start still.

Well my brother is here for a gaming weekend so I doubt I'll do any painting but hopefull I'll get the multi-meltas made up. Along with the other stuff I've got which will hopefully be November's pledge (and not finishing off the heavy support squads :))

A small update, because these guys are gonna be done quick!

Also, I need to alter my pledge for this month, because I thought I had five Seekers left to paint, and only had four. So I'm down by one.

These guys are about halfway done, which means I've found a quick way of doing yellow! Still need basing and so on, but that's easy enough. Should be done by tomorrow afternoon, I reckon... Which means on to more exciting tank-based things!

Right, here are some current pictures of my pledge for this month.

This is my Castellax from last month-had only just basecoated last month.

Still have half the rivets to do, the base to finish off, everything needs a wash and then the base needs to be flocked.

Here is a previously finished Darkfire cannon wielding Castellax

The front one is already finished. The middle two are my vow for this month and the back one will be worked on if I have the time.

Right! Gonna place an order today, got the FW side sorted (another 5 marines to round out the first Tac squad, 5 reavers, and the SoH contemptor and 2 CCW arms for it), but I need to get paints too, and I think I'm gonna try the FW guide colour, just because it sounds a bit easier to mix than Daemon Prince Dargors mix. I'm a little apprehensive about mixing paints for a whole army though :/

Okay yeah I ordered my stuff. The FW stuff above, and one of every paint I need for the FW guide mix to do some testers. And also a 1, 0, and 0/2 sable brushes :) oh and magnets for the Contemptor.

My FW order arrived mid week so I have managed to do some work on my pledge this month. The Breachers are built and undercoated and I've started building the Heavy support squad. Also built the Myrmidons, have to say these are awesome models! They're absolutely huge though!

@firegolem I painted my Sons of Horus using a really simple recipe. Basecoat Dawnstone, highlight with Administratum grey and then a heavy Coelia greenshade wash. So easy to do and it looks great!
