depthcharge12
With an accurate prediction of the Solar Auxilia (SA) showing up tomorrow for sale and carrying through the next weeks into the release of the next book, what will you base your regiment on? I know the book isn't out yet, nor the full paint schemes, but I'd like to see your input and ideas :) My idea for a possible regiment is to do a German Blitz themed army - continuing along the theme of the fast striking fluff of the SA - with Deutsch names and pseudo ranks. My planned paint scheme will be more of a forest green/sage green (man I should be a wall paint consultant :P) on the fatigues of the units with the armor plates being a possible silver or dulled gold. I will try and make them fit hand in hand with my dismounted heavy infantry Dark Angels legion. Possible names might be the Jaeger 351st or the 62nd Sturmtruppen (numbers are just arbitrary lol) What's your ideas for your force and ideas on mine? :) Edit: my other idea was a bit more tongue in cheek humor - the regiment would be called the 20th Vernenian League lead by a Captain Nemo ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298056-sosa-is-coming-whats-your-fluffpaint-scheme/ Share on other sites
Barabbas Sogalon
I think on making them the mortal soldiers stationed on the flagship of my VIII legion force. Going for fieldgrey uniforms and dark metal armour, simply because I love that combination. Hyaenidae
Unification-Era, hailing from a mythical Nord Merican military formation from ancient history, it's ranks closed and dusty practices hidden from prying eyes. It is said that the Soldiers of this formation have been seen wearing wide brimmed headgear when off duty, and odd adamantium brackets on the heels of their service boots. Most strange of all, though, of these olive drab and steel Soldiers, is their battle cry... "Garry Owen" ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298056-sosa-is-coming-whats-your-fluffpaint-scheme/#findComment-3835677 Share on other sites
blackoption
Heathens: That sounds like the start of my SA that will support my Ultramarines. Though their heraldry will include Maroon Berets and helms and an ancient battle cry of "Airborne" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298056-sosa-is-coming-whats-your-fluffpaint-scheme/#findComment-3835702 Share on other sites

Brofist
I'm going for a mix of Imperial Russian and Steppe peoples. Probably a mountainous planet dotted with workshop fiefdoms or something. Basically, this is my inspiration: http://i.imgur.com/4U8SzV9.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0IFD0EB.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YvATSff.jpg Painted similar to this: http://i.imgur.com/hp6ndgL.jpg I threw together a proof of concept way earlier this year. I think I'll just use the new SA models for the SA and use these for my future IA: http://i.imgur.com/QTxVfYo.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0aERCFt.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298056-sosa-is-coming-whats-your-fluffpaint-scheme/#findComment-3835723 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
@Bulbafist Yeah those DKoK guys were the same colors I wanted to paint my SA since I dropped my DKOK project due to money (though kinda ironic I picked up SA instead) What are the colors used to paint them? And are those German Hussars or Russian Cossacks? Nakuth
Bulbafist, that proof of concept looks great. Is that a conversion, or mostly bits from another miniature company? I'm thinking something like a deep red for the fatigues, and either a dulled/matt gold or matt black for armour. Loquille
While the armour hides most of the cloth I'm thinking something similar to the Napoleonic British colours, so red for upper cloth, white for legs. Armour wise a glossed black, with straps picked out in a light grey. If they release snipers they may even end up in green :) Background wise I see the Auxilia regiments attached to my Night Lords )or separate fleet operating nearby) priding themselves on representing the Imperium's best upon the discovery of a new culture, being the first to bring them into the fold bloodless or without too much shed. If it proves to costly they fall back on the 8th legion to do what they do best. Once that is over they return, armour gleaming. Showing the mercy and forgiveness to the conquered populace, while the monster waits behind them. Now we wait, and see how much this changes between now and the book dropping and if I actually sit down and write it out properly.. depthcharge12
I'm really liking everyone's ideas :) Seems quite a few of us have more Napoleonic/Great war themed armies haha. Anyone as pumped as I am for the volkite incinerator Russ?! I swear to the powers that be [aka FW] that Lord Alanpharius Bligh heard my plea for a sawed off shotgun version of the carronade. ....now only if we could strap one of those things to a Thanatar siege bot  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298056-sosa-is-coming-whats-your-fluffpaint-scheme/#findComment-3835798 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
No SA, just using Krieg models. Saxonii Eisenbruder regiments from the old 100. Reyner
Anyone want to trade all my Cadians for some SA? When I get some I am tempted to paint them like the Colonial Marines from Aliens, no idea why just looks like a laugh :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298056-sosa-is-coming-whats-your-fluffpaint-scheme/#findComment-3835986 Share on other sites
Barabbas Sogalon
I don't think I'll be doing more than a few squads and maybe that nice volkite tank for these guys. I already got my Boruzian Grenadiers (based on the Krieg models) in desperate need of attention between all the power armour. Ramell
I'd like to use the Solar Auxilia models and rules, time and money permitting, to represent an expeditionary force raised from the Five Hundred Planets, to accompagny my Ultramarines. My first thought for the colour scheme is blue armour with tan fatigues, like this, but it might be too close to my Marines, so I'm not quite sure yet. Maybe I'll go with gray armour and blue fatigues, or tan armour with tan and brown camouflage (or just plain brown) fatigues. Vehicles will be tan and brown wavy stripes, to match the desert bases. I think I'll buy the smallest set available and paint some test models before I make too many plans. Knight of the Raven
Uh. So that's where Kaidan Alenko was before he joined the Alliance Navy. Chilling with starship troopers (that's what I got from the image's url in any case). The Sardaukars are from Dune, though. depthcharge12
What's it from? Dune? It's the original cover for Starship Troopers (the amazing book on brotherhood and questionable govt practices). The movie is about 2% correct in keeping with the book. Sardaukar are from Frank Herbert's Dune. The above two books mentioned are the Old and New Testament of Sci-fi Geeks everywhere.
