IL VII - The Berserkers of Uran (thread 1)

OK. Do you reckon there's any possibility that an Architect could be "purged" of it? I'm wondering about Slynnat having that forcibly done to him. After that he can take a long, brutal path to potential Chosen of Khorne status, rather than a Khârn-style resurrection.

A little bit of fluff, and a thought:

As the Berserkers of Uran arose from the Legion's new homeworld, the influence of the hellish prisons was clear to behold. Disdaining the Shepherds of Eden and their officers, he quickly drew together a circle of warriors to lead his “true” sons. As befitting the primal ways of Uran, these were simply dubbed the “Dominators”.

Largely serving in place of Lord Commanders, they also include the commanders of smaller, more specialised parts of the Legion. Most prominent are the leaders of the Legion's Techmarines, the Primarch's personal guard and the Destroyers, colloquially known as the Blood Boilers. Each Dominator is marked out by black grease daubed across the upper half of their face. This is matched on their helmets, with the upper faceplate painted bone-white.

Regardless of the size of their command, they are regarded with utter reverence by their warriors, exemplifying the savage character of the Legion.

As for that thought- given how fast Raktra moves, it wouldn't make sense for his guards to be Terminators. Assault Marine guards, anyone?

Initially his bodyguard is a unit of elite Milewalkers/Boilers (not sure whether to merge them into the same thing), after the Old Blood incident it becomes The Architects.

I'd make the Milewalkers their own thing. I like the Boilers as their own uniquely feared entity.

How many "Lord Commander" Dominators do you reckon there should be, and can you think of any officers who should be in there?

I've got a thing about the number 7, do you reckon that'd be enough? They could be nicknamed after each of the deadly sins or something. Officer-wise, Innorvak's gotta be in there, possibly Slynnat? My rejected character Dorran Kldier could be one as well, he was originally the role Innorvak currently occupies.

Err, Lust and Gluttony Companies? Not feeling that so much, but the sevens sound fine to me.

Slynnat is too junior to make Dominator- Innorvak basically represents the Blood Boilers, and I reckon the Techs, bodyguards and other specialists would also have a single Dominator. Kldier could have a slightly seperate role within the Boilers.

What are the Milewalkers if I might ask? I don't recall them ever being mentioned before, is their name a reference to the film Green Mile

They're the ones that I *think* I called Executioners before? And yeah, Green Mile reference. I thought at first they'd be the guys who were recruited from the gangs off death row.

If you need to write any fluff pieces with them in, they carry shotguns, a set of Hell's Teeth each, the usual grenade mix and have impact thrusters.

Shotguns? I thought they carried Eviserators/Heavy Chainswords? Still, I take it these aren't your bog-standard Scout Boomsticks?

Thinking Dominators again, and I have a couple of thoughts. Firstly, how do the apothecaries and Techmarines of the Berserkers roll, and how prominent would they be among the Legion?

Second- we need some Lord Commander type Dominators, and I was thinking it'd be cool to have one or two from Raktra's original gang if possible.

Ooh yeeeah. Just wants some brass chains, with added blood.

Would you like me to do a blurb for the Milewalkers? Origin-wise they could simply be drawn from the elite of the assault companies. Come to think of it, their existence is a sign that Raktra isn't just a frothing maniac like Angron.

Go for it! My original idea was that they were the death-row equivalents in the prisons he made friends with. Dunno what's worse than death row for 30k though. Servitoritude?
