Question about Corbulo's Initiative

Hello Ladies, Gentlemen and Xenos,

 

Got a bit of a query for you I hope you lot could answer for me.

 

It's in regards to Brother Corbulo in the new Blood Angels Codex. Looking at his profile he is given a base of Weapon Skill and Initiative of 5. Now Corbulo has the warlord trait "Speed of the Primarch" which grants +1 Initiative AND his Red Grail grants him +1 Weapon Skill and Initiative also.

 

Nowhere on the page nor the rest of the army list in the codex does it state this warlord trait or his relic's ability has been applied to his profile already. so what I want to ask is this:

 

Q: Is the "Speed of the Primarch" trait and the Red Grail buff already applied to Corbulo's profile or will Corbulo gain that extra weapon skill and initiative when the game begins meaning his true stats would be WS6 and I7?

 

 

I appreciate any thoughts you may have on this matter so I may decide whether or not I should bring Corbulo off the shelf and onto the tabletop again like the glory days of 4th/5th edition..

Warlord trait isnt applied to his profile, as he may not be your warlord.

 

Red grail is only on the charge, so not on the profile.

 

Its like the extra attack from bolt pistol and ccw. Its not on the profile.

 

If he is your warlord, then he is I7 (I5+1 from grail +1 from warlord trait). I6 if he isnt the warlord. 

 

W6 normally, because of the grail (5+1)

 

I'm going to be using him a lot I think.

Wow I never realized how much of a beat he is attacking at intintiative 7 with str 6 rending on the charge. Hitting mostly on threes though I don't know how many attacks

5A on the charge? 3A base, 2ccw and charge bonus. Add a libby for unleash rage. Or quickening. You might bump him up to I10 simultaneously with hammer or wrath.

The Red Grail is not only on the charge.  Corbulo is always I6, due to the grail, 7 if he is the warlord.  Then an additional +1 on the charge!

Until they FAQ it, just like they did with the GK falchions a few years back.

corb is two priests without mobility, they are not going to faq his grail to be only on charge.

No, only Priests can do that and not Corbulo ;)

But he comes standard with a Bolt Pistol and his sword, so wouldn't need it.

Does that mean that if he's your warlord in a Baal strike force he would be I8 on the charge ?

Base is 5. +1 for the red grail makes 6 and +1 for charging makes 7.

Just reading through all these replies has put my mind at ease. I didn't even consider the formation's +1 initiative at charge, That's just icing on the cake.

Don't get me wrong I love high Int attacks, but it almost feels like they might have gone a little overboard with this. Marines striking at the same time or faster than Genestealers, hell faster than a Brood Lord!

Dante is init 6 base, init 7 on the charge, becomes init 7 base around corbs, 8 on the charge. Quickening basically makes any of our characters monsters lol...

Yes The Quickening is the Blood Angel's primaris power.

Just reading the rules on Corbulo just make be giddy with the possibilities he can have if everything goes to plan. Pretty much if Warlord Corbulo charges without any buffs other than what was provided to him by the warlord trait and wargear he has on him he would have the following:

Weapon Skill: 6 (Base 5 + Red Grail)

Attacks:   4 (Base 3 + CQC Weapon /Pistol combo)

Strength: 6 (Base 4 + Furious Charge +  Heaven's Teeth)

Initiative: 7 (Base 5 + Warlord trait + Red Grail)

I think people may be running heavens teeth wrong. it has a set strength of 5 right? are we sure furious charge stacks? much like the init buff doesnt stack with unwieldy because init gets set to 1?

Heaven's Teeth is S+1, not S5.

Corbs is thankfully still an awesome legend. And still one who trembles with fear at the sight of a jump pack :D

 

Can kind of understand it, as a jumpy corby alongside dante and SG would be just too awesome for a GW creation.

With a big enough Death Company, you can drag Corbulo along behind you and still move your lead element 12" per turn to drag him into combat.
