What I'll do now is tackle the next 10 and save the guns and shoulder pads for when I've actually ordered the shoulder pads!

Still no yellow paint, Wayland are having problems with their supplier.  So its back to good old relaible GW.

Decided to turn my Centurion in to a Moritat, just a pair of Bolt Pistols.  Try and get a new picture up once I've finished base coating the arms (must rememeber to check the FW art before I start.

Nice looking bot you've got their Raktra, like the reversed colour scheme, simple but effective way to tie everything together.  As for neglecting your degree I can sympathise, I've been goofing off since October as I was definate I failed the first exam, only to find out in December that I'd past it and just can't get back into studying.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

I've got several dudes on bases awaiting the warm afternoon... I have appreciation for yall Canadians and the running to and fro to prime- I've don't that a few times in emergencies and have had issues in the past with the indoor humidity causing the primer to react weird and cuss up the Paintjob.

Dim- your destroyers are nice! What is your list looking like and when will we see more??

My list is built around what I think is fluffy and cool imo, so it isnt super great on the table but that isnt important to me. At its current state I only have the 5 destroyers, but that may expand as my points limit does aswell. Next month I plan on pledging a command squad, so that should be pretty cool.

Also got my Vigilator done! painted him in the black due to the fact that I STILL DONT HAVE MY YELLOW because canada post lost the freakin package furious.gif

originally he was supposed to be a black shield (and he still might be) but i wanted to try the look of the red and white striped helm. And I likebiggrin.png .

Here he is:

med_gallery_82040_10175_32521.jpg med_gallery_82040_10175_9513.jpg

I like trying different things and as I am a huge fan of blending highlights, I figured i would go against the grain and try old fashioned line highlights on the black. i think it came out alright. With that I should be done this month aslong as my new order doesnt arrive and im allowed to make building pledges (STILL NO YELLOW)

Thanks,

DimDim

Nice touch with the Silencer!

And yeah, so far our Imperial Fists showing has been mostly Black >_>

I should get around to putting some paint onto models today if not definitely tomorrow since its Hobby night at Wolf_Packs place :p so, MOTIVATION! Especially with one such as him...

Raktra, that's a really nice looking red. What paints did you use? (if ya don't mind me asking)

Zed, those Alphas are absolutely stunning. Really looking forward to seeing them finished.

DimDim, it looks great! The helmet adds a nice touch of colour to it.

My own work. I have to say I'm becoming tempted to hurl my Land Raider out of a window. MK-IIb Land Raiders are a pain to build, it had so many warped parts it was beyond a joke. I was sent the wrong sized doors. I've had to green-stuff over gaps - it looks incredibly rough, but in my mind, it looks like it's been rushed back into service after field repairs to cover up heavy combat damage - it's not green stuff, they're weld lines. Honest guv... msn-wink.gif (T-34s being my inspiration here)

I'm not sure where, but somewhere in the process I've screwed up my mix-ratios, and the results are a little odd. Not sure whether I should continue regardless ("it's radiation damage!"), or give it a bath of paint remover. The green isn't meant to be that vivid, so I might go back and attack it with the violet and smoke, and then hope that the matt-varnish fixes it.

(It started raining just as I was taking photos)

The ancient and venerable dreadnought may have lost a few parts on Isstvan V...

Nice touch on the blue inner hand glow! And I feel ya on the Land Raider. My Achilles was my First Ever Forgeworld purchase and lets just say I may or may not have chipped a tooth due to grinding them in frustration. Luckily most of the ugly bits on mine are near the back...

My mkii LR was a PITA as well... I've contemplated a spartan and dread the idea of the warps in that much resin.

Dim- loving the vigilator. After list help with Slipstreams there is one of those in my idea table as well.

Sooooo... We had 40ish weather yesterday and I missed my priming window so opted to suck it up and do the ole cold weather frosty prime today

Heading to LGS right now to paint- as long as there is room at the table:)

I dont know Huw (can I call you Huw?biggrin.png) I think your raider has personality. Honestly the greenstuff "welding" made me laugh as I play russians in fow, and those t-34's do take one heck of a thrashing. (they might need a bit more than a good old weld lol)

Huw:

(Let's hope I remember right...)

Mechrite red
Agrax earthshade
Mechrite red mixed with a little agrax
Agrax + lahmian medium
Then a drybrushing accident turned into battle damage

If I remember properly, it was that. Also very complimentary photo going on up there.

Huzzah!! In the midst of 2 birthday parties, Mens group meeting and running the kids around I primed some doods and had an hour at teh LGS to put some paint on...

Please amend my vow to include these fellas as painted! smile.png

Primarch-Progenitor! To Your Glory I present thee :

Very early stages of painting. Decided to try out Grotsmasha's recipe. Shoulders are to be painted black so I used both models on the left to test out how I wanted the yellow to look.

Furthest left is Cassandora Yellow -> Lamenters Yellow 1 coat each at this point. Next one beside is just 2 coats of Lamenters. Beyond that it was just picking out details with Seraphim Sepia. If your attentive enough, you can start seeing the point where I stopped trying to go for utmost precision tongue.png

The GK-Counts-As-Primus-Medicae is as-of-yet untouched since I'm still debating on how I want to go about painting him while not making him obviously an Imperial Fists so he could still fit in with my GK.

Edit: Personally leaning towards the Cassandora version.

First coat of yellow; decided to just stick with Lamenters yellow. Things to work on for future painting: Shading. Used too big of a brush with too much shade on the brush. Pretty sloppy more or less all round but ehh I'm willing to live with it.

Here is one of my two tactical sergeants now finished apart from some snow flock on the base.

Now means I finally have a fully completed tactical squad (15 models with an apothecary). The second sergeant will complete my second tactical squad.

Slipstreams - I hope this helps and you find some benefit from my mistakes!

I always end up doing at least two coats of Lamenters on my Fists. Always. One just doesn't cut the mustard, and as you've probably figured out by now, doesn't look strong enough, IMHO anyway.

I also tend to do the Sepia detail work before applying the glaze. I've always found it much easier to be sloppy with the wash and tidy up with white than to try and be careful of your nice, difficult to re-do yellow.

Giving them another weak wash of something brownish (I use Army Painter Dark Tone) as a last step after any battle damage or anything also makes a stronger yellow somehow.

Still waiting on the post man but I started to work on metallic as im bored.

I also ordered the crashed thunderhawk and strong point battle board plus the GW extension boards.

So god damn bored

Second sergeant is done. Two tactical squads now fully painted. One of the reasons I sign up for this is to keep up the motivation to paint my army (had it since 2013 and its not fully painted yet).

Now just got the Mechanicum Veletaris to paint for this challenge (maybe another pledge if I can get it done quickly).

Yeah I'm going for 3-5 coats on these to get a particularly strong yellow. I'll also try to cover up some of the sloppiness with some battle damage if my laziness doesn't kick in :P

Thanks for the tips!
