Khadmiel walks into the Arena, his confidence boosted by his victory, but his mettle would be tested against a Librarian this time.

Lim Cagaest strode in, concentrating on a prayer to the Emperor, so his resolve would be like steel.

Khadmiel, ever agile, took the iniative for himself, going first, spraying Lim Cagaest in a shower of bolter shells but the Librarian remained unbmlemished.

Drawing his mace from his back scabbard, Khadmiel charged in, but lost his momentum for a second when the Librarian started to gesticulate...

First, a blue glow iluminated Lim's weapon, then a Shockwave appered to be forming in his hands, but Khadmiel managed to rob Lim's concentration with his steely resolve because the forming lightning field fizzled... but then Lim sillhad his secret weapon. His arms openend wide and a from nowhere a small Psychic maelstrom of raw warp energy formed between both contestants. The tempest grew in size, Khadmiel was left without response.. the tempest grew and gre until it struck down khadmiel, his force field of no avail to this psychic whirlwind.

His armour torn, his conscience lost, bleeding but alive, Khadmiel was no match for the psychic might of Lim Cagaest...

- Captain Semper: Well Khadmiel, you returned early...

- Vet. Sgt Khadmiel: Yes Master... I'm afraid I might have dishonored the Chapter just a tiiiiiiiiiiny bit...

- Captain Semper: What! Explain yourself!

- Vet. Sgt Khadmiel: I sort of got BBQ'ed by a Librarian... Like totally got wiped out.

-  Captain Semper: Librarian eh? Welcome to the club son, welcome to the club...

Another great write up Lucifer - I'm really enjoying this! Look forward as to who the overall winner will be! Oh and much honour goes to Librarian Cagaest - well done! :)

Again the Arena saw a Company Master face a Vet. Sergeant. It was nothing new and results were always surprising.

Vengen knew that well, as he had seen it happen before.

Elam in his scout armour took the initiative his more agile equipment gave him. Without losing time he shot a fusilade from his ancient foe-smiter pattern storm bolter. Vengen was, alas, well protected by a suit of artificier armour an no bolt found a chink on the armour.

Without wasting time Elam sprint into a run, to be able to get the charge in, but Vengen was no slouch and saw the aproach coming, and using a replica of Elam's weapon, he unleashed a volley of bolts.

Agility, experience, a shrouding and a protection field saw that no bolt fell the Sergeant on his charge. Where scout armour would surely fail, the above wouldn't.

They met in single combat, Vengen wielding a common enough power sword, Elam wielding a relic of the chapter, a brutal Slayer pattern Power sword...

They clashed blades, sparks flew, and the scout sergeant was forced back. Power armour was boosting Vengen already prodigious strenght and even if Elam was strong he lacked that same enhancement provided by the suit.

Vengen battered Elam again and again, using his strenght and agility to gain the upper hand, until overwhelmed, Elam was forced by the onslaught of blows to open his guard enough for a fatal blow to be delivered. THis time, no shroud and no field were of use and Elam was defeated.

"Well fought Brother" Said Vengen "But you risked too much by not having a suit of power armour"

"The Emperor watches over me and when it's my time, doesn't matter what armour I wear. Until my end, this will serve me more than well" Elam replied.

"You speak the truth" agreed Vengen.

This fight was quite antecipated by the crowd. Both Captains had a similar choice of weapnry, so it would be downright decided to skill!

Caleb, betting on offense with Jump pack and Thunder Hammer. Titus betting on defense with Thunder Hammer and Storm shield.

The signal was givena and the contestants took moments to gauge each other, looking for weaknesses.

Caleb, ever fast, activated his jump pack and in mid air showered Titus with bolts, but to no avail...

Titus, moved trying to guess by the jump pack trajectory where Caleb would land prepared a strike and was rewarded by his bold stratagem, because as soon as Caleb landed a Thunder hammer was there to greet him, connecting with shpulder plate, cracking ceramite.

But Caleb was no easy target.. in mid air he was already archingwith his Thunder hammer, so when he was hit, his blow was already on it's way and he connected with Titus armour... So both contestants drew first blood at almost same time...

Both a stunned, they fought each other to a standstill, neither able to gain upper hand. Caleb slightly more agile, Titus counting on his shield prwoess to ward off any blows...

There was brief moment were Caleb's attacks seemd to falter and Titus pressed home the advantage, managing to hit Caleb, but the Iron Halo was holding, and thos blows just connected with the force field, making it shimmer and crackle.

Trusting in his Iron halo to keep him safe, Caleb started taking more risks, opening his defense more so his attacks could flow easier... the gamble payed off when Titus struck him times, and two times the force field shimmered and crackled. Caleb was already with his blow prepared when Titus struck him, seing the opening and not believing someone would gamble so much... but Caleb did gamble and struck Titus as soon as his force field shimmered, titus not able to put his shield up in time, thus a hammer blow connected to Titus arm with strenght nough to crack the armour.

Titus saw ikons in his armour gleam red. His arm was numb, probably fractured but the stimms washed the pain away. He disengaged briefly, just time enough to switch weapon and shield between hands. His fractured arm would bear the shield, his good arm would swing the hammer.

Caleb atacked, all notions of defense forgotten. Victory was close and he had faith his Halo would deliver him from harm.

This time the gamble almost payed... Titus hammered his way in once and twice and at the third blow the field flickered and died, the blow connecting and cracking Caleb's chest plate. Air was forced of his lungs, his ribs cracked as bad as his armour, but a smile on the lips of Caleb ehn his own blow connected with Titus shield, fractured arm not being able to whitstand the blow that knocked shield in against it's own bearer, the hammer sliding in and connecting finally with Titus, once again. Both contestants knocked out, wheezing, bleeding...

It was a tie! That was unheard of for many centuries of the contest! Rules dictated an ad-hoc jury was to be formed to decide who would win.

And so intrepid Caleb was prounced the victor by the jury!!!

Chaplain Lucifer's notes:

OK, so what happened really? Since they struck at same initiative tehy were actually both knocked out at the same time, so I tallied how many wounds each warrior had inflicted. According to the rules TH dont inflict instant death but D2 wounds. Titus inflicted 3 wounds in 3 righteous blows, but Caleb inflicted 4 wounds in 3 blows. It all came down to luck, but there was no easy way to do this. Glory to the victory, honour to both warriors.

Fantastic battle, a brutal afair that both contestants will need time to heal from. I hope Titus gets well soon in order to serve the Lion in true DA fashion, against heretic, traitor and xenos.

Thanks for the batrep CL.

Thergothon walked in at a leisure pace. He was never in a hurry, his demeanor always calm... Kadmiel also was calm, his morale boosted by his previous win.

The opponents salute with a slight bow, never taking the eyes of each other.

"Well met, Angel Executioner" said Thergothon.

"The pleasure is all mine" replied Kadmiel.

On the signal, the fast Kadmiel jumped into the air, to make his practiced dive attack. Thergothon, aimed and unleashed 2 plasma bolts against Kadmiel, that impacted in the Storm shield making it shimmer.

Kadmiel completed his dive attack landing, but fell short because Thergothon took a step back, ready to swing, activating his ancient Monster Slayer-pattern sword, which oddly enough made a fizzle and emanated just a faint glow.

Thergothon was surprised that his Relic sword let him dow on this crucial moment. Kadmiel, the Angel Executioner knew taht was an opportunty to seize and with a feint and a quick strike he managed to score first blood, cutting a chunk of arour and meat out of Thergothon, still surprised.

But Surprise would last for long. Thergothon regained his composure and steeled his resolve meetingkadmiel steel with his own. Blades clashed, sparks flew. Again another attack and this time shield parried sword.

Thergothon stroke again, and his blade was met by Kadmiel's. But a laser imbebed on Thergothon's gauntlet shone, burning expertly thorough an armour joint of Kadmiel.

Combat Stimm's washed the pain and there was no bleeding because the wound was cauterized. Kadmiel, though, was forced on the defensive, having to fend off from an unexpected weapon that could strike at any moment.

Thergothon saw the opponent on the defensive and intensified the attack... He knew that Kadmiel would be worried about his digital weapon...

Kadmiel was using more of his shield and less of his sword, taking care to expose himself less...

Thergothon's sword made an arc, and was met by Kadmiel's sword, feinting Thergothon's freed a hand from the grip of his sword and aimed it at Khadmiel's helmet that instinctively raised his shield, exposing legs more, enough for a powerfull kick to throw him down to the floor, folowed but a sword cut to the still exposed greave.

Kadmiel, not losing time actiavted his jump pack and got up and high, away from Thergothon.

With an impulse he clashed into Thergothon, retributing in a way his fall from earlier. Thergothon, off balanced, let his guard down just enough for a sword strike from Kadmiel, but his Iron Halo didn't let him down.

Both warriors fell to the floor. Thergothon on his back, his guard open, Kadmiel on upper position, making his title as Angel Executioner shine as he expertly skewered thergothon through a lung, the Iron Halo of no avail this time. Thergothon, letting go off his sword grabbed Kadmiel's helmet and with his digital weapons burned through one of Kadmiel lenses...

And so, the Angel Executioner had fallen... Thergothon , spitting blood was declared the winner.

Chaplain Lucifer's notes:

Monster Slayer of Caliban rolled a 1. No surprise there. That's why no one uses them except for fun and fluff... and Arena's :D

Thergothon was only able to beat Kadmiel because of the re-rolls of digital weapons. Both contestants were hitting on 4's, wounding on 4's and with only 3 attacks each, those re.rolls were the deciding factor. That and a few 4++ inv saves at the right time.

Xenith strode in, the croed cheered. The Sergeant had won his share of admirers with his last fight.

Unperturbed, Simeon strode in, focussing on his mantras, to concetrate. His psyker power would give him an edge...

Simeon reacted as soon as the claxon sounded... he moved up and tried tried to Assail his opponent but Xenith somehow prevented the power from happening... Sheer willpower or something else?

Simeon abashed tried to activate his force sword but his focus faltered and his force sword remained a simple power sword...

Stubbornly, Simeon, went for his pistol and fired a shot, but Xenith already had the shield up, protecting himself, unleashing a melta shot from his combi weapon, but it went wide...

Much to Simeon's surprise, Xenith was already uppon him, but a Thunder Hammer is an unwieldy weapon and Simeon, with a flourishing move belonging to beloved Corswain tried to pirce Xenith's armour, but to no avail. The answer came in the form of a crack and boom from a Thunder Hammer blow, making it difficult to dodge, skilled as Naaman in close combat...but the Libraian conversion field was there, absorbing the kinetic energy and returning it as light.

Again Simeon came at Xenith, with another skillful move, this time too fast for shield to cover, too potent for the blessed Shroud of Xenith to cover. The sword embebed itself on Xenith's ribs... a smile creasing Xenith's lips under the helmet.

"Sodum XIII. Lost a lung and it was replaced by an artificial one. Good blow nevertheless, brother" Said Xenith, jokingly.

Sword still embed in his chest Xenith saw the oppening. Simeon couldn't parry the blow.. so the Thunder struck Simeon, and knocked him out cold, the echo of the Thunder still reverberating for a few secons more in the Arena's walls....

Chaplain's Lucifer Notes:

What a fight! Xenith was about to lose, failed Inv save, FNP save but the special 6+ sgt inv save saved his bacon. Truth be told I thought Simeon had this because he was wounding Xenith a lot more, but a blow from the Thunder hammer and no conv. field save saw 2 wounds being delivered.

Well fought indeed, Epher! Now. Get back to work. Azrael is in a mood because he has the only DVD copy of 'Watchers Go Wild' on hold, however Asmodai hasn't returned it yet. Better send him a reminder and give him a fine!

Lucifer: That was Hilarious! Sodum XIII. Time to incorporate that into the army ;)

That's also his style. A quippy monologue before playing whack-a-mole.

Woo! Great battle. Love the attitude, Sergeant Xenith is my favourite underdog for the title now msn-wink.gif

Woohoo, a fan club!

Things would get even warmer in this round. Both Company Masters with solid wins would face in battle.

Ramiro prefering to go on the offense and Guriel, ready for defense.

The claxon sounded and Ramiro leaped forward ready to attack. He was showered with a hail of bolts fro Guriel's Foe-smiter pattern storm bolter that found a chink on the armour, making Ramiro bleed from a broken seal. That was enough to delay Ramiro and provide Guriel with a sucessfull charge.

Faster with the mace, Ramiro stroke out out to meet Guriel's conversion field. Both lashed out with the axe at the same time, but Guriel not only parried Ramiro's axe, he was sucessfull in embebing his own axe on Ramiro's flesh.

Undeterred, Ramiro stroke again with his mace, fast, forcing Guriel to parry with his axe, unsure that his conversion field wold withstand a second blow.

Right was Guriel, because while his axe was still busy with Guriel's mace when Ramiro's axe bit him on the midriff. Both contestants bloodied but unbowed!

Pressing his advantage, Ramiro stroke with axe, meeting Guriel's axe and this time it was Ramiro's mace that clanged againt Guriel's armour, buckling it.

Guriel coughed blood, but he was not beaten...

With savage blows Ramiros' mace rained upon Guriel, blows being deflected by skill and force field. Axes clash. And again. and again... until both warriors seemed of one mind and decided to trust in their personal force fields for protection and concentrate on their offense...

Two gleaming axes described a perfect arc towards the opponent, two force fields shimmered and broke under such prodigious blows, two axes embebed themselves on each other's pauldron, bitting deep, a river of blood flowing.

From the tribune the Juri announced "Let there be more blood!!!"

The constestants, bloodstained, blood dripping from several gashes, blood drained enough to knock out even an Astartes, still stood a testament for their stubborness. Ramiro Lashed out his his mace, parried by Guriel's axe. His strenght drained, he didn't muster enough power to make a decisive blow with his axe, easily parried by Guriel's axe, that once again, bit Ramiro, making him the first one to bend the knee.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Chaplain's Lucifer notes.

Awesome fight down to the last wound. Guriel started better, dealing two wounds and the outcome looked grim for Ramiro, but he came back and did 2 wounds... then it happened. in I order both axes dealt the final wound to each other, so I decided to give 1 more wound to fight for, and Guriel made the best of it.
