Tiberius Jackhammer Posted January 26, 2015 Share Posted January 26, 2015 Finished off an unusual treat today; a custom Dreadnought from a friend's (non-modeled) DIY Chapter, the Black Thunderbolts. The August is a pattern that mounts shoulder Lascannons, a carapace Cyclone Launcher and a pair of Power Fists w/ Storm Bolters. http://i.imgur.com/6eNtCQS.png It's a 3D-printed jobbie, apart from the purity seals and the unfortunate Dark Eldar. Quite a massive fellow. I took some design liberties in the positioning of the Lascannons (over shoulder, instead of attached to the sides) and lengthening the fingers - now he can get a good squeeze on infantry. The elements mounted on the underside of his torso are the Smoke Launcher and Searchlight - this Dread already has a lot going on on top of him, adding Smoke/Search up top made it a bit too crowded. http://i.imgur.com/dk1W3tt.png Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Brother Talon Posted January 26, 2015 Share Posted January 26, 2015 I want to scream "Dreadknight/Mechwarrior".... looks cool, and I like the concept... ..but as much as I hate to say it.. this should've been a Tau project, possible a Riptide/Broadsword mashup. I'll pass it off as a Pre-Heresy relic variant.. makes me feel better about it, or a Mechanicus secret. While it does seem a bit crowded and very busy, definitely impressive.
