Looks like this floated past the radar:

THE STORY

The ravaged world of Tallarn now plays host to the greatest armoured conflict in the history of mankind, with the bitter and vengeful Iron Warriors leading warhosts of tanks and Titans across the befouled plains. In desperation, a covert team of Imperial Fists resort to seemingly unthinkable measures in order to regain the upper hand - but will their mission to seize the macro-transporter Eagle's Talon ensure victory, or merely spell doom for their loyal allies on the surface below?

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

This audio recreates a tense boarding action via a series of linked 'found extracts' of Imperial Fists vox-communications. This unique take on the Black Library audio drama makes for a immersive and gripping listen.

Interesting take on an audio. I really love the cover art on this one too, wish it was a poster.

I looooooved Tallarn: Executioner as well, so I'm excited to see some forward movement with the Tallarn conflict.  :)

Great to see the Imperial Fists getting more love from BL, but I thought French stumbled a bit with this one in comparison to the narrative and minor character development we saw in The Crimson Fist and Templar. However, by using rare VII Legion units in an uncommon application, French perfectly illustrated the vastness and scope of the legion structure.

Found footage cliche, box ticked.

Are there others like that, to make it a cliche?

Because to be honest, that is the only reason why I might enjoy listening to this, as opposed to the typical audiobook. While I'm glad they exist, and am happy for those who enjoy them, they are, to me, the worst format of book.

Have you missed the last 15 years since the Blair Witch Project made found footage a cliche to add false atmosphere to a story? Take away everything that makes found footage a seperate medium from normal filmography, shaky camera work, grainy semi lo-res, badly focused etc, and you've got a collection of stories seperated by time.

You know, like any other book/audio?

Having said that, shaky story writing, low quality writing and badly focused story telling is pretty much a hallmark of Black Library novels these days, so shouldn't really be too difficult for them to pull off.

Has anyone listened to this yet? I'm undecided on whether to get it or not, I heard the demo and wasn't impressed but the idea sounds promising.

I have and found it good.  I found the

XX legion bits

the most interesting though.

It didn't click the first time I listened through it, I guess I was distracted but then I went back and specifically picked out the bits you mentioned, it's interesting he refers to the two forces as Loyalist and eventually Traitor (around10 minutes in), with the traitors being the Iron Warriors, I don't know whether this a simple generalisation the writer used but wouldn't the Alpha Legion call the forces they fight with by something other than traitor? or am I just reading to much into it

Sorry to resurrect this post, but I just finished this audio drama and I was left wondering:

Is it really a XXth Legion marine who is evaluating the action?
