SW1
Cheers for the info. It can be a bit daunting trying to work out what is a reasonable entry level. I'll play about with the brushes it comes with and then get a better quality one. :D The boards are looking really good!!! Having a good looking board does really increase the enjoyment of a game. GhostMalone
I completely agree with you, im even considering extending the barren wastes board to a 3x3. With the new FW realm of battle in bound I thought what a perfect opportunity to spend more money. If I was to do this I'd need 4 more plain extension boards or 2 extension boards and 2 trench works boards, some craters attached to the board, maybe the quake cannon ones the wrecked rhino and a crashed Aquilla could be used to add extra details. Thoughts? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3948551 Share on other sites
SW1
Are you going to have any scatter terrain? If you are the some plain boards are a must. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3948569 Share on other sites
GhostMalone
Im not the biggest fan of scattered terrain as most gamers try set it to there advantage I however like to have debris tank traps razor wire barricades etc everywhere, a real battle board shouldn't be deconstructed and reconstructed, in reality you have no control over your terrain and I want to keep my hobby realistic from here on in. No bastions or anything just craters wrecks and the GW terrain traps :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3948573 Share on other sites
SW1
Interesting thoughts on terrain. Im all for setting the scene/story and getting a board set up to represent this. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3948647 Share on other sites
GhostMalone
Im in agreement on that, in fact I've decided to base my armies to suit the board. http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-02-18%2021.23.54_zpszzk6dwgi.jpg So I'm blending the cloaks to the board. The misses is driving up to my job site this Saturday with my new airbrush so I'll finish this project next week. Started planning out the next board so psyched to unveil it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3954906 Share on other sites

Brother Argent
WOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! City boards are the coolest. So much opportunity for extra details and awesome paint job. GhostMalone
WOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! City boards are the coolest. So much opportunity for extra details and awesome paint job. Exactly ;) My plan is to start off with a Genet opium city sector and the industrial generator and manufactorum boards, followed by the ZM boards. It's more an industrial loading area then a city section. But the city section will come Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3955533 Share on other sites
Brother Argent
Meh, perhaps I should have said Urban as opposed to city, same thing in the end though; details, details, details... and awesome kill zones. KBA
That's great! Cool to see I'm not alone in my nutty drawing plans. Nutty because once you total the price and jot it down, you sort of look at the number, moments pass, and then you nod Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3955664 Share on other sites

GhostMalone
So update time; The misses is bringing the airbrush up tomorrow so I'm happy about that, but being impatient like I am I had to do something to pass the time. So here we go; First you need a 750 gram piece of rump steak http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-02-20%2017.10.31_zpsswxfhztk.jpg then listen to etienne sin's album of punk goes pop http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-02-20%2016.26.12_zpsbbn1soei.jpg So I'm working on 3 things first the cockpit canopy http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-02-20%2016.27.06_zpsuducqr3f.jpg The exposed interior http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-02-20%2016.26.39_zpsmdrn4gzx.jpg and the fusealage Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3956794 Share on other sites

Slips
Shouldn't the Fellblade be heavier than the cat? I mean its pretty significant chunks of resin. ..Another point to us in the Dog camp. They cant jump up onto tables and knock stuff down (well, my Daschund certainly cant).. Hopefully its not too bad... :X Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3956812 Share on other sites

Praefectus Invictus
Nice work so far Kurama, great to see the recons fit into their natural habitat. And damn those xenos kittens, they are so much worse than the tyranids by far. As Slipstreams said, another point for the dog camp. Redemptor Nemiel
Awesome terrain Kurama. I'm very tempted in getting the crashed thunderhawk tile, is it made from the same plastic as the realm of battle boards, or is it resin? If it is that the later, did you have any warping issues? Thanks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3958435 Share on other sites

Whilst the GW RoB is cast on a grid to provide strength the FW ones are not. http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-02-22%2018.23.54_zpsuxryldut.jpg http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-02-22%2018.24.24_zps7gw5tpjo.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302805-kurama-builds-paints-and-plans-out-realms-of-battle/page/2/#findComment-3958441 Share on other sites
