Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Velayne Ramaeus

Greycoat

Recommended Posts

Ever since seeing this picture of Inquisitor Ramaeus, I've wanted to make a model of her. I've done some kitbashing and LOTR conversions before, but this is probably the most insane thing I've ever attempted.

The base model is Alaine, female Paladin from Reaper: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/alaine/sku-down/02725

First step was to cut off an arm and the head, and remove some other bits with a Dremmel. Please bear in mind that this model contains lead - use a respirator, don't work in the house, and take all necessary precautions before trying this.

Next, I started working on the armour and putting together a bionic arm using Forgeworld and Maxmini bits. The head is from Statuesque - highly recommended if you want more female characters in your army or want to make your own SoB. Although I think plastics of those are coming in the summer.

Progress so far:

If anyone has any tips on improving my sculpting, I'd really appreciate it. I'm using colour shapers and rolling out clothing elements with some almond oil, but I need more practice. Lots more.

I could also do with a smaller than marine sized bolt pistol. Are the IG ones actually smaller? Is there a small holstered one available anywhere?

The scultping is done and she's undercoated and based. I'll get onto the painting next week.

She stands a little tall, so the bent treadplate base is to lower her down a little.

Apologies for the photo quality, but the undercoat is making things tricky...

Thanks! Sorry about the delayed response - I've been having some issues logging in.

She's mainly going to be used on her own with my Iron Hands, but further down the line I may make some deathwatch squads and other members of the Dead Cabal.

Haven't got around to painting her yet as I've been assembling Assault Marines...

Very nice, and glad to see another aficionado of colour shapers - my favorite sculpting tool. You've got a pretty solid handle on sculpting fabric, so I suppose just practice to perfection!

The small Bolt Pistol's a tricky question - the Imperial Guard ones I've seen are still pretty chunky, although I haven't seen all of the kits! Maybe drill a bit of plasticard tubing to resemble a small Bolter barrel, then stick it on a Dark Vengeance Cultist's Autopistol?
