Hearts of Stone, Will of Iron - an Imperial Fists WIP blog

Feel like it's been a while since I've updated this blog! Just back from another week on the South East coast of the UK. Weather has been rather cool, so gave me the opportunity to paint a few more minis and touch up a few bits.

First thing I did was slightly brighten the Captains yellow armour, it seemed very dull compared to his subordinates. I also managed to finally get some Runefang Steel so I could brighten the silver filigree on his armour.

Next up was finishing up my first Veteran Tactical Squad. Admittedly, I need to paint up the second heavy bolter so will swap out a regular bolter dude for it, and pop him in Veteran Tactical Squad Two. I also sorted another couple of Templar Brethren and another Autocannon.

I really need to sort out the basing for these chaps, I'm gonna start the sand over the next couple of days, by which time the grey weathering powder I ordered from Secret Weapons should have arrived.

The next task is finishing up the first 5 men of the Templar Squad (which will be a 9-man squad escorting a Primus Medicae). On the very last picture below is a sneak peak at what is next on the painting table. Better pick me some Castellax at some point then :D

Ave Fellow lord of the VII you're yellow is great looks alot like mine I find even when you get a great yellow it's hard to get a good picture of it I have resolved to biuld a little light box before I post any pics. any tips on getting an airbrush I found some Iowata starter sets but it'll use up all the funds I have earmarked for fw so I'm on the fence you glad you did it I don't really do alot of vehicles so haven't needed one yet but might have to after sing the quality and consistency of you're yellow

any ways nice minis man "FOR DORN AND TERRA" and all that jazz

@The Hydra - I did indeed! I think the problem I've found is that the way I'm painting the minis, the less detail on them, the better! Cos I'm sponge chipping damage on, then I gloss varnish and use an enamel paint in the recesses, to make the shadows stand out. Problem is, having a lot of fine detail on the mini tends to make it look a right mess, hence the issues with the captain. It's pretty muchn also why I'm much happier with my mk IV dudes than any of them. Except for my Vet Sergeant. Just cos he looks like a badass mofo.
