Astral Claws WIP (previously Sentinels of Terra)

I've just started to paint my imperial fists that I've been assembling for a good few months and have finally plucked up the courage to start painting yellow! I know it's a disgusting colour to paint, here is my first test model, with more coming along soon

Yellow looks great, and weathering looks great! 1 idea: maybe use agrax or nuln oil around the battle damage to ease the transition.

Thanks for all the comments guys! Since posting this my army has changed from Sentinels of Terra to Astral Claws (yes I know another ridiculous colour to paint!) The yellow isn't stopping though as I really liked this colour so there will be an allied force of Lamenters to go alongside their Badab War chums!

Heres a few quick shots of the devvies i've started, the painting on these guys isn't going too quick as i've had a few other things to paint up for people first so my personal stuff has to take a back seat for now

On this last pic you can see my test model for the Astral Claws as well, I've tried to paint the Tyrants Legion symbol freehand on this but will need a bit of practice to get it tidy enough!

PS. As you may have noticed i've put these guys on the new 32mm bases as I love them and think they make the marines look as big and bulky as they should be!

A great start, and allied Astral Claws/Lamenters have a lot of potential.

I played in a local club tourney yesterday usibg my Astral claws allied up wuth my ither army of farsight enclaves abdvdid fairly well coming fourth. The main thing I learned from it was that bikes are awesome and its lucky that I recently got another 6. My current list of claws to paint/make is: bike command squad, 2 bike squads, land speeder, 3 devvy squads and a tactical with drop pod/rhino.

 

I've got a few commission pieces to get out of the way before tackling the claws though! :(
