*Furyou Miko
Order name: Order of the Locked ShieldHome planet: Dystry, Medusa sub-sector, Segmentum ObscurusName of its Founder: Canoness Gytha Idonea Patron Saint: Saint Arabella of the Companions Notable Sisters: Canoness Gytha Idonea, previously of the Order of the Sacred Rose, gained prominence on Jollov assisting Magos Vir escape from Hive Fleet Moloch. She was chosen to lead the Order of the Locked Shield because her uncommonly comradely association with adepts of the Mechanicus was thought to make her ideal for potential communications with representatives of the Iron Hands chapter, under whose sphere of influence Dystry resides. The Locked Shield is Idonea's first mission command, however, and while she believes in the Emperor's will, she spends a significant time each day praying for guidance. Seraphim Superior Vyvian, previously of the Bloody Rose, led the Order's forces on Medusa. For her heroism and feats, she and her unit were given the right to paint their left gauntlet silver, marking them as favoured allies of the Iron Hands. She declined the suggestion that the Order paint their armour black to make the silver gauntlet stand out better, and enjoys telling the story of how she was there when a Space Marine told a joke. Sister Ailyth, previously of the Ebon Chalice, was promoted to the rank of Celestian and granted the right to carry the Order's Sacred Standard of the Orders Militant into battle as part of Canoness Idonea's personal guard after her heroics at Station XII. She is known for her passionate speaking voice and fiery rhetoric, and served as a Dominion before being attached to the Order of the Locked Shield. She leads the Order in many of its ceremonies when Canoness Idonea is in seclusion. Pahalim Superior Ebba, previously of the Sacred Rose, acts as the Order's Mistress of Armaments. A firm believer in the power of proper drill and fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with your companions, she is two decades Idonea's senior and acts as her tactical advisor in many situations. She has many stories to share, and claims that the shield wall formation she leads her Pahalim in is based upon a technique she witnessed fighting alongside the Dark Angels on Gabon. Sister Hospitaller Saraih of the Order of the Eternal Candle joined the Order en route to Dystry during the founding to provide medical support, although she has since proved herself in battle many times. Of the entire Order, she is the most popular amongst the laypeople of Dystry, who often benefit from her wisdom and skill. She has been training pilgrims in the healing arts. History: The Order of the Locked Shield was founded in the latter half of 976.M41 at the order of the Ecclesiarch, some eighteen months before it was asked for due to a hiccup in the astropathic communication between Arcanis III and Terra. The Order Militant was created from the Order of the Sacred Rose, with some specialist elements from the Ebon Chalice and the Bloody Rose. The Order was founded on the advisement of Canoness Ecrire of the Order Pronatus of the Sacred Tome, who had requested a mission of Battle Sisters to protect her own Sisters as they excavated a site thought to have been visited by Saint Arabella after her disappearance in .M36. The Pronatus' efforts took some ten years, but eventually they determined that Arabella had stopped to resupply on her quest, though the details of what she sought to achieve remain unclear. What is known is that she traded four rounds from her bolter for a month of other supplies before acquiring transport towards Cadia. Canoness Idonea ordered a shrine built over the site of the reliquary within which the shells were stored. Three of the four bolts remain in the reliquary, with legend holding that the fourth was used to banish a daemon that was preying on the noble women of Dystry during .M38. The Order remained on Dystry to protect the shrine once the Pronatus orders had finished their investigation, making an alliance with the local governor: In exchange for use of his warp-capable frigate for sector-local transport, they would lend their forces to the aid of any of his off-world concerns that should need protecting, so long, of course, that they remain within the faith. Significant battles joined: During the Thirteenth Black Crusade, the Order saw battle several times, defending their shrine from Chaos and Eldar incursions alike. Two squads of the Order's Seraphim fought on Medusa, racking up a respectable three Engine kills and some eighty Tank kills during the running battles there through a combination of daring, marksmanship and incredible melta-bomb deployments. Sister Superior Vyvian led the Locked Shield on Medusa and was recognised by the Iron Hands themselves for her valour. The Slaughter at Station XII saw three Sisters defending the Dystry system's Listening Post against a Dark Eldar raid. Situated on a rocky moon with no real atmosphere at the edge of the system, the listening post served double-duty as a prison. Sister Ailyth distinguished herself by not only forming the convicts into an effective frateris militia, but by convincing them to return to their cells afterwards through her powerful oratory. Heraldry: The Order of the Locked Shield wear white armour in honour of their founding Order, and steel-coloured robes to show their unwavering stance in the defence of their wards. Their chapter symbol is a heraldic shield bearing a sigil sororitas in the bottom left corner and crossed keys in the top right. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/KaguraHakubi/IK%20and%2040K/Sororitas/Locked%20Shield_zpsilkp4kpv.png TOE (Table of Organisation and Equipment): The Order Command Section Canoness Idonea - Umbra Ferrox-pattern Bolter - 60 standard bolts - 10 kraken rounds - Infernus-pattern Melta Pistol - 3 Melta canisters (18 shots each) - Sororitas-pattern Power Armour - Aspiriate Cloak - 2 Krak Grenades - 2 Frag Grenades - 2 Holy Water bombs - Astartes-pattern Combat Knife Celestian Command Squad Sister Ailyth, Bearer of the Sacred Standard - Godwyn-De'az pattern Bolter - 70 standard bolts - Bolt Pistol - Sacred Standard of the Order of the Locked Shield - Sororitas-pattern Power Armour - 3 Krak Grenades - 3 Frag Grenades - Sarissa Sister Hospitaller Saraih of the Order of Eternal Candle - Bolt Pistol - 30 standard bolts - Sororitas-pattern Power Armour - Medicum Ministorum - Valetudinarian Gauntlet - 2 Frag Grenades - 2 Krak Grenades - 1 Rad Grenade - 1 Virus Grenade 3 Sisters Celestian Battle Section Pahalim Superior Ebba - Umbra-pattern Combi-flamer - Bolt Pistol - 50 standard bolts - 10 Kraken bolts - 10 Vengeance bolts - Sororitas-pattern power armour - Storm Shield - 2 Krak Grenades - 2 Frag Grenades - 2 Melta Bombs Pahalim Superior Argante (formerly of the Order of the Ebon Chalice) 18 Sisters Pahalim (trained in the use of storm shields and close-order drill, primarily drawn from the Ebon Chalice, including four Sisters trained in the use of special weapons) 5 Erelim Superior (three former Sacred Rose, two former Ebon Chalice) 60 Sisters Erelim (standard line warriors, primarily drawn from the Sacred Rose, with some Ebon Chalice, including eight Sisters trained in the use of special weapons and four Sisters trained in the use of Heavy Weapons) 2 Retributors Superior (formerly of the Sacred Rose) 14 Sisters Retributor (drawn from the Sacred Rose, including six Sisters trained in the use of Storm Shields) 8 Sisters Throne (vehicle crew drawn from the Sacred Rose and Bloody Rose) Recon Section Seraphim Superior Vyvian - Inferno-pattern Melta Pistol - Four melta canisters (18 shots each) - Mina-pattern Power Sword - Sororitas-pattern Power Armour - 2 Krak Grenades - 2 Frag Grenades - 2 Melta Bombs Seraphim Superior Essylt (formerly of the Order of the Bloody Rose) 12 Sisters Seraphim (Primarily drawn from the Order of the Bloody Rose) 3 Dominions Superior (two formerly of the Bloody Rose, one formerly of the Ebon Chalice) 23 Sisters Dominion (primarily drawn from the Bloody Rose, including thirteen trained in the use of special weapons) 5 Sisters Throne (Vehicle crew drawn primarily from the Order of the Bloody Rose Armoury as of 999.M41 170 Godwn De'az-pattern Bolters 30 Umbra-pattern Bolters 250 Godwyn De'az-pattern Bolt Pistols 20 Inferno-pattern Melta Pistols 30 Valhalla-pattern Hand Flamers 50 Mars-pattern Melta Guns 40 Ryza-pattern Flamers 10 De'az-pattern Storm Bolters 5 Umbra-pattern Combi-meltas 3 De'az-pattern Combi-meltas 7 De'az-pattern Combi-flamers 2 Ryza-pattern Combi-plasmaguns 5 Luna-pattern Condemnor Boltguns 20 Titan-pattern Heavy Bolters 15 Fortis-pattern Heavy Flamers 5 Ignis-pattern Multi-Meltas (none operable: cannibalised for repairs to vehicle-mounted multi-meltas) 9,875 standard bolt rounds 98 Kraken Penetrator bolt rounds 28 Vengeance bolt rounds 13 Hellfire bolt rounds 18 Condemnor power stakes 5,358 Heavy Bolter rounds 55 Inferno Heavy Bolter rounds 1865 melta canisters 9,015,158 gallons promethium 40 Mina-pattern Immolators (Multi-meltas) 30 Arabella-pattern Immolators (Heavy Bolters) 30 Katherine-pattern Immolators (Heavy Flamers) 15 Sororitas-pattern Repressors 5 MkII Deimos-pattern Rhinos 15 MkIIIc Ophelia-pattern Rhinos 200 San Leor blades (thirty in the reliquary awaiting return to Terra for re-consecration and assignment) 10 Mars-pattern Power Axes 5 Ophelia-pattern Power Mauls 10 Graia-pattern Power Swords 100 Scutum-pattern Storm Shields 168 Krak Grenades 130 Frag Grenades 116 Melta Bombs 1 Vortex Grenade 42 Virus Grenades 247 Holy Water grenades 174 Sororitas-pattern Power Armour 172 Sabbat-pattern helms Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/304836-liber-challenge-order-of-the-locked-shield/ Share on other sites
Bjorn Firewalker
Considering the name, will storm shields or combat shields be an option for the Order's members? *Furyou Miko
Yes, heh. Yes, they will. Fluff wise at least. Not planning to write homebrew rules for the Order at this point in time.
