What Ordos would you like to see more of and why?

Recommended Posts

Hail,

Simple question to put to you.

With the 40k verse getting bigger what Ordos would you like yo get expanded (fluff/models or both)?

For me I kind of like Ordos Sicarius the idea of a spy in the Assassin ranks just seems triple secret cool to me.

I would like to see more of an emphasis on people creating their own Ordo Minoris. We have the three Ordo Majoris and, as we know, each Inquisitor can spend their time in any of those, but what about the Ordo Sepulcura? Fighting the new Plague of Unbelief would be cool. If that caught on, who knows where it could go?

Chronos

Chronos would be very interesting but the concept, or perception of time would bring up all kinds of arguments and retconing some fluff.

I feel like loose canon actually would make time travel far easier for this franchise than many others.

I wish they would expend on the three main Ordos by doing a hardcover Inquisition codex with all the Ordo Militarii (Grey Knights, Adeptus Sororitas, Deathwatch) in mind. Given that the Sororitas are overdue for a new model range and a new codex and Deathwatch would be very easy to realize they could make a lot of people happy with a synergizing Inquisition codex, including me.

Yeah, the Sisters aren't part of the Inquisition (and, in fact, never have been - they were 'chamber militant by assumption', which is to say, they assumed the role of the Hereticus' Chamber Militant, but remained an independent organisation).

Basically, since the Adepta Sororitas and the Ordo Hereticus were created to do the same job - root out heresy, especially in the Ecclesiarchy - they tend to find themselves working together a lot, and when a Hereticus Inquisitor needs an army, he's more likely to ask the Sororitas than the local Guard, for example.

That my understanding too.

I really hope they are just holding out until they can drop the full Sororitas Dex and the Adeptus Astartes Deathwatch Supplement and then release that reworked harcover Inquisition codex. Let a man dream, will ya?

Ordo Necros - if a whole other ordo was formed (Ordo Vigilus) to just keep an eye on these guys...I want to know what they are up to.

On another note, maybe the Ordo Astartes, as you can never have too many stories of 'Ork Snipers' (search Celestial Lions, and see why you don't annoy the inquisition)

Ordo Machinum: I love the tubes- and augmention-loaded Mechanicum Adepts and would love to see Inquisitors of that style.

Ordo Obsuletus: I love the idea of some X-Files-like taskforce in the 40k universe. biggrin.png

Ordo Sepulturum: I always digged the idea of Witchhunters, Inquisitors and Vampirehunters as characters determined to hunt supernatural foes especially undead ones. A zombie plague within the 40k universe and individuals who are specialised to bring them down sounds awesome to me. Next 40k vampires please... rolleyes.gif

Ordo Necros/Thanatos: An Ordo (one of them...none confirmed) who seems to be consigned to monitor everything linked to the phenomenon of death itself and related issues such as Anima Mori. Nothing is known about this ordo but it has a full inquisitorial ordo just to watch over it. I am really curious how an Inquisitor of this Ordo would look like.

Ordo Sicarius: In matters of style a mix of Assassin and Inquisitor MUST look cool.

........

But basically I simply love every different department of the Inquistion for its potential to produce very specialised and individual Inquisitors in manners of appearence/style, equipment, mood, motivation and character.

Read the book "Hard to be a God"by the Strugatsky brothers recently. The plot's pretty much set on a Feudal World and I could definitely see it fitting in somewhere in the 40k universe if not for the extremely optimistic look on humanity's future.

The concept though of an observer being sent to monitor the progress of a Medieval planet definitely fits in with the idea of the Ordo Barbarus. And though I know the fluff says they're an extremely small order I just think it's a great idea of Inquisitors running around backwater worlds trying to subtly spread the Imperial Truth without tipping the structure of the world completely over the balance.

Also be a great excuse to paint some Bretonnia models into a warband!

Would love to see a novel on the time travel ordo. Story could be they go back in time and prevent the heresy or the like but for all of thier hubris the outcome is much more horrific or something. Obviously everything back to normal in the end, more of a wild ride than plot development!

The novel Atlas Infernal touches on time travel in a really cool way. I wish there would be more novels written about that Inquisitor.

The best thing about this idea is that the antagonists need not be from outside the Inquisition. An inquisitor may wish to prevent the Horus Heresy, but another may think the Emperor needs to die and be deified to unite the Imperium for the next ten millenia and thus would try to sabotage the first inquisitor. A third, potentially traitorous inquisitor may have been approached by the Cabal or find himself thinking like them through other means and consider that the sacrifice of mankind is a small price to pay for the definitive destruction of Chaos and as such try to make Horus win... the possibilities are endless even within the sole Inquisition.

If we're creating Ordos, I've got a couple I just came up with.

Ordo Arcanum - Concerned with matters arcane. They investigate the unexplained. They are almost all psykers, as they study the warp and the occult knowledge of chaos. To know one's enemy, you must become your enemy.

Ordo Explorator -  Concerned with seeking out lost worlds, and expanding the realm of human knowledge and influence.

So an Inquisitor that monitors Rogue Traders and Mechanicum Explorator fleets? Nice. I might have to steal that idea happy.png!
