Here's a link to where I got it, they sell two types. Minimal cleaning.

Hot, but it looks like a lot of effort.

That's basically my MO at this point, hah

The side armour makes it feel more complete, the sides look quite bare otherwise.

Agreed.

@Brofist your White Scars are marvellously bonkers! Keep up the great work.

Finally happy with a technique for getting a suitable red for these guys. What kind of feeling are you getting from this color palette?

I get the strong feeling that I need some of those  shields for my Hedonistarii project !

Think the colour should really pop against the main white armour of the Marines and has a distinctly Wuxia vibe to it to fit into the WS aesthetic/ theme.

Missed a few a updates here but this a  really awesome looking army all around.

Never thought of reactive armour on a Space Marine tank, but that is a very neat   idea and fits well into the rugged aesthetic of the setting btw.

Thank so much! I've really enjoyed freeing myself and going wild with these.

I feel there are some common tropes for how white scars typically get approached- space samurai, bright reds, cherry blossoms, hawks and the like. All that stuff is hard not to do, but there's so much more to explore with them as a theme imo. From Wuxia and the Hashshashin to their witchery, pride, and pragmatism. I hope I can take them in a direction that's uncommon, but when you look at them its clear they're White Scars. Just... off... or aloof somehow. That would be the perfect feeling for me if I can translate it into my art.

Hey Brofist,

the work on your scars is superb, loving the character in your models but the painting and tones you’ve achieved even with the white is sublime.

looking forward to more!

This metallicy funky red is very cool. Fits the shield designs nicely and sells them well as something a legion would use. Such an interesting take on the Scars, I love seeing all these themes and ideas coming together!

I recently painted a bunch of those scare shields and they all look great in metallics. Honestly the most interesting thing is what you're doing with the white. I really want to see a fully finished and based guy, I don't think I've seen a scheme like this before.

Thank you guys, sincerely. I really want to have a completed and based model in the next week or so as I need to start mass production in order to make my LVO deadline.

Right now I'm practicing my freehand skills and trying to match the color with my red sheilds. There's also the question of at what stage I do them, as later makes them blend less into the white armor, but too early and they lose their effect. After all I need to do so to lock in a leather and topknot color. Overall I'm very close to starting to crank these guys out. Hopefully will have it by next weekend.

Looking forward to seeing more progress. Just contemplating your red conundrum, perhaps paint the desired symbols after the pre shade but before the white ink in a darker red. Then go over after the white ink is applied with a lighter red.

That way the areas in shadow will have a deeper red and the white ink will help build up a more graduated appearance of the red. The oils/filters will also help blend it together. It would also be easier to correct at this stage as well (compared with applying over white) and might even be slightly visible after the ink layer thus helping the accuracy of the next red layer.

Anyway, just a thought, no idea if it would work!

Hey thanks! I agree that the reactive panels bring the tank closer into the realm of 'real'. One of the reasons I decided to stick them on there was that I had already added some details to try bringing it that direction. Those panels really up that feeling.

This is a great suggestion. I will give it a try!
