Any of you guys had any luck running destroyers?? They seem nice and fluffy but a tooled up unit of ten is near on 500pts!! Anyone find them worth it?? Cheers

"Worth it" as in for their points return? Not often

Worth it as in getting to field an irradiated bunch of desperado John Woo marines wielding poison napalm? Every time

Too bad Barrage doesn't care about LoS.

Should've used that 12" Jump Pack move (they had JPs...right?) to get out of range.

But, getting back to the Death Guard...

I would only take a Singular Phosphex bomb on them in all honesty. It just makes the Sergeant that much more expensive and painful to lose when you finally do.

Doesn't help that they're +10 Each. If they were +5 because only a few consuls can take them, it'd definitely be better.

The Rad Missiles are definitely the main selling point being one of the few sources of Fleshbane available to a Legion Army and either being Heavy 36" or Assault 18" thanks to the Suspensor Web is a nice bonus.

With 2 Bolt Pistols, they're essentially a squad of Rapid Fire Bolters who can Charge after shooting. They also have Rad Grenades, another big plus.

Essentially, you always want to Move -> Shoot -> Charge with them due to how fragile they are. But, because of how fragile they are, you want to avoid anything with massed Ap3 or better AKA any Legion Special Unit, pretty much, unless you're dogpiling with another squad for the Rad Grenade Bonus.

The phosphex quad launchers will bring a tear to your eye. I had one round where 3 launchers landed 43 hits, the smile on my face just wouldn't go away.

Being able to have quad launchers, leviathan, Medusa all firing phosphex is such a satisfying feeling.

I'd try that myself if I thought I could get away with those aftermarket dinky little weapon platforms to proxy quad launcher rapiers.

Anyone ran DG in a Shattered Legion list with some ideas to float around about our specific positives etc?  Just looking at ways I can have good reason to add Pollux to my collection or paint up some non-DG colours.

If playing loyalist, DG can be amazing due to the versatility of Morturg. Infiltrate seige tyrants or justerin and cast endurance on them? Further Khr Valhen (sp?) of the Iron Warriors makes a fantastic HQ choice.

However, for those who want to be traitor or want to run a different HQ, having deathshroud as a HQ really alliviates one of the major drawbacks of using shattered legions - the additinal HQ tax for each faction you want to bring in. So in this case, I think DG work excellent in shattered legion forces, but probably as the allied force

This could be a terrible idea, or a rather good one, not sure as dont have books with me and would proabably be rather expensive... That said...

How would a command squad full of jetbikers weilding power scythes fare as a dedicated close combat unit? Worth it for awesomness alone, but does it have any viable crunch when compared to other CC units? Straight off the bat you have speed, toughness decent save and lots of AP2 attacks.

Similar offensive output to deathshroud, but less survivability. More mobility though.

But a lot more expensive, even taking into account you could get the Deathshroud a pod and maybe even be cheaper? Plus they are rare in that you could take only 4 and still fit a terminator character with them.

Can't take Deathshroud power scythes on Command Squads - Characters only. Command Squads have Chosen Warriors, but that only means they can issue and accept Challenges as if they had the Character type.

Try some normal Bikes instead. They don't gain a 2nd redundant 2+ save and they're much cheaper. You're also not wasting a 36" range weapon on a CC unit. Perfect delivery system for your Praetor.
