and contemptor

For the wounded marine, it depends on the pose you want to acheive. Is he prone? On one knee, standing?

Is he facing his opponent? Or barely surviving an axe toss?

Was hoping for him to be on both knees, extremely wounded after barely killing his opponent. I always have a hard time reposing the resin legs to get Into the kneeling pose, they never seem to want to bend far enough

You can get bending knees from the heavy support squad kit. I did my wounded world eater with em. If not, there are 40k kneeling legs in the devastator set, you can find those easy, I can event trade you some ;)

I would have the wound arm foldee over his chest and have him bent forward looking down. You cann also more the grip the the axe head if it makes the pose easier to model.

That just means your not using enough heat :p

(Be careful though)

i use boiling water, and while it will bend I find if I try to bend it 90 degrees, the leg is on the verge of tearing

That's a great idea for the pose. I was hoping to use mk 2 legs, but I believe I got some decent or legs somewhere...

I ventured into the dark bowels of my bitz box and was able to scavenge these ancient kneeling legs :D I was thinking of maybe making the left arm a stump, maybe the axe first took off the marines hand, then struck his shoulder. Thoughts?

Wounded Ultra looks pretty good.

I'd agree to cut the hand and rotate it. Maybe have it grip something, like a combat blade driven into the ground or a rock, so he is bracing himself to remove the axe... Also do you have a scowling or shouting sternguard head? Might look better than the helm, which could be put on the base.

Maybe also raise the right arm a little more and really bury that axe into the shoulder

As the battle wound down, Legionnary Scipio sunk to his haunches. He ripped off his helm, gulping in some ragged gasps of air. His limb aflam with pain, blood sheeting down his left side where a perfidious traitor had struck him with an axe. It was a miracle that it didn't just cleave the limb away. He had lost his own blade in the frenzied melee and while the axe was embedded in his shoulder it was a hindrance.

Theoretical said to leave it in place until an apothecary could remove it safely, but the practical was, that there were no apothecaries, and with another attack imminent, the axe which nearly killed him could still save his life.

Bracing his left arm, and with a grimace, Scipio set to work trying to lever the axe out of the gaping wound. He ground his teeth to silence the pain, rather than give the traitorous scum the pleasure of hearing a true son cry in pain. Not just the pan of the grievous wound to his body, but also that of his homeworld and the betrayal of all he held so dear....

Alright one last little update. This will be the final pose for the ultramarine. I threw this WB together quickly and i think once on a bigger base it could look like a neat little scene

What's the smurf doing? Is he staring at his reflection in the polished axe blade?

No worries, sometimes it is handy to have a story or something in mind when making a diorama piece.

I say make the dead guy a World Eater... However he will need more wounds as I doubt that one stab will kill him....  Crack the armour up and do the blue and cover him in his own blood. Then no need to paint him white ;)

You could make the casualty a Word Bearer but where would the fun be in that. can't show blood on red armour!!

Your right, whom ever the dead marine is he will need more wounds. Im leaning towards it being a dead word bearer only because im basing this army around calth, and lets be honest, id rather see a word bearer dead then a world eater! :D
