So, not got on to my pledges yet (the bolter scouts are up next) but I've finished these guys (except for some Silflor tufts on the bases, so it's Hammer Time...

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g61/Cypher226/DSC_3143.jpg

Techmarine and Marines Errant look brilliant biggrin.png

Sharply, he inspected his strike squad as they stood vigil. Knees bent, shields raised as they took cover behind rubble, and with pistols drawn they watched the ruins for movement.

The assault and counter-assaults between Loyalists and Secessionists had been lightning and thunder. Each struck with such speed and ferocity that in a blink of an eye casualties were mounting rapidly. Then, like crows, his Chapter's Apothecaries set about to pick the fields clean of flesh.

His Retaliators were among the few that guarded these scavengers.

Strike Leader Perceval turned his gaze back to his charge, the Corpse-Taker Hector. Beneath his blades lay a dying warrior of the Star Phantoms whose once white armor was now washed red with blood. Hector's armored hand cradled the Astartes as his other formed an open fist with fingers twitching to adjust his narthecium.

---

Not like this.

No words had to be spoken or gestures made. When Perceval looked into the eyes of the damned Star Phantom he understood the warriors despair. It was not fear nor a cry but regret. A regret that he would be killed coldly and his organs harvested instead of dying gloriously in battle. His chance of a heroes death stolen and his last moments of life treated like livestock under a butchers blade.

Perceval turned as he saw the narthecium impale the Astartes.

He heard the machine puncture flesh and gurgle as it harvested the prized organ. Then a chime followed as the gene seed was removed and secured. This was followed by a thud as Hector let go of his latest victim.

Squad,we are finished here. Fall back to the tunnels, Garza formation. Move Out!

---

His Retaliators formed up around the Corpse-Taker before making their way back to the relative safety of their battle lines. Before taking up his position in the formation Perceval looked back at the now lifeless corpse of the Star Phantom. Robbed of honor and glory, his body defiled, and not left to rot. He looked at the perpetrator, Hector, sneering as he prepared his loot for transport.

An inglorious death. Perceval believed that such fate awaited him in the shadows of the Palace of Thorns.

On with the show!

Howdy, folks! I was hoping to toss my hat into this affair. I have an Astral Claws army in need of TLC and I want my first objective to be the completion of a Retaliator Strike squad (my Kill team), Corien Sumatris (my army's HQ), and a Corpse-Taker (objective marker) to be my objective. Now, onto the goods:

http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p779/theironwithin/Mobile%20Uploads/7ACFE0C8-E172-4ABD-B105-7D51B3E64EE8_zps0uqvadax.jpg

http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p779/theironwithin/Mobile%20Uploads/35717CA0-E55E-4088-AAC9-9A9ADD6CF610_zpsemda2p6y.jpg

So I have built so far:

-5 Retaliators

-1 Corien Sumatris

What is left to build:

-5 Retaliators

-1 Corpse-Taker

When the building is complete I will add stuff to the base and paint. These will be late Badab War Astral Claws and I hope I can actually build and paint these guys PLUS trying to add weathering, wear & tear, and damage to them. I have seen A LOT of great stuff on this thread and I hope my addition will be permitted.

Awesome updates you guys! But it pains me to see that the Secessionists fall behind tongue.png So, I ordered a Contemptor Dreadnought last saturday from FW and I'll be submitting that one as my first vow for the Astral Claws! Assembled and painted (and with some fluff)! smile.png

Doing Minotaurs.

Going to do 2 tac squads and a assault terminator squad to start.

Then going to look into some vehicles.

Already have everything necessary for a 1850 pt army list (including FW stuff), and have already started on two tac squads. Will update when the tac squads are ready.

Okay, my paint finally came through as did the CC arms for the Dreadnoughts. I've decided to keep one Iron Clad as a Marines Malevolent to fill the formation requirements and run the other one as a Sons of Medusa Ironclad. I also disassembled Vaylund Cal and began base coating him. I can finally get this ball rolling.

IronClad: Needs stripping then spraying so he'll probably be the last thing I do along with the Land Raider.

The start of the Ironthane Vaylund Cal, the lighting in this room is naff during the day, I usually take my photos at night.

med_gallery_41766_10959_117496.png

Feels good to finally begin work on them in earnest. Vaylund should be done in a few days.

Cheers,

BT

I have hit the halfway mark for my dreadnought force.  Both Las cannon Mortis units and the Venerable Cor Esh.

The Venerable Brother Esh also wears a chapter symbol adorned with personal hunting trophies.  As one of the eldest brothers active, he is sought out for difficult missions and for sage advice.

Hello again everyone! It's great to see progress all round. Arinhere that jaw totem looks awesome. Good fortune for you that the codex allows Dreadnought squadrons now eh?

I finished my Terminator squad, and unfortunately this will be the last I can do for at least a week.

I got asked to play in a campaign after that, so I guess I'll be focusing on more Exorcists for the next month before moving on to my other chapters.

Here's a guy I put together in my spare time. He has a storm shield in his right hand, and in my mind he's either the Battle Captain or Iron Thane of the Sons of Medusa Clan Mageara. I was excited to paint him, but I guess I'll have to wait a little longer!

"Push them back, I will not order you again."

The voice was twisted metal washed through with static. Amagan, the Hersir of the Atropos huscarls suppressed the almost-human shiver that crept along what remained of his neck. He'd been fighting beside his master for close to sixty terran years but never had he become comfortable with the sound of Vaylund Cal's voice. Amagan braced his storm shield, the front flaring into incandescant light as heavy bolter rounds detonated against its power field. He levelled his hammer and strode into the punishing salvo of enemy fire. His huscarl veterans came after him, buckling the decking under their tactical dreadnought armour. The terminators approached the Executioners defence with a methodical step, weathering weapons fire that would fell a lesser Astartes. A bolt of purple plasma flared over head, causing Agamans eyes to film over to protect his retinas. Vaylund's discharge caught an Executioner high in the chest as he secured another belt feed to his heavy bolter. The Marine went down with a burst of static as his vox transmitter burnt out.

Agaman reached the line first, his huscarls fanning out either side of him to create a shield wall. The servos where his knee caps should have been locked into place and he braced to recieve the oncoming charge. The heavy bolter fire parted and leaping through the gap came a combination of Lamenter and Executioner Marines clutching crackling assault weapons. A shimmering axe head caught upon his shield and with a snort of derision he flung the offender back, bringing his hammer head down to vaporise the enemies head.

"Push them Amagan. I want that control room. It is mine."

He knew Vaylund Cal was behind him, but he dare not turn to gaze upon his master. He had his objective and he would secure it, with his life if need be. The Iron Thane of the Atropos Warclan was not a man to be denied. Amagan moved forwards, digging his heels in and forcing his shield wall to advance. The assault against their power shields faltered and soon they routed the enemy back. Suddenly, elements of the Imperial Naval assault against the Sentinel-Sigma Star Fortress spilled out of an adjacent corridor and into the retreating successionists. They quickly became embroiled with the traitor Marines, bio-engineered muscle clashing with planet grown pride. Power blades clashed, bolt pistols roared and las shot pierced ceramite. Amagan turned to inquire what his master wished but realised he shouldn't have.

"Keep moving. Go through them all."

Amagan knew that there was no use in requesting confirmation of the order, nor should he require confirmation. If he had been in his masters position, he'd have likely ordered the same. That, however, was the difference between Agaman and Vaylund. There was no likelyhood, only complete and utter resolution. Vaylund Cal would spend the lives of everyone to secure his objective. Agaman barreled into the melee with a roar upon his lips, his hammer head crackling down to obliterate both a Lamenter and a Naval Marine at the same time. The melee turned from a vicious combat to a brutal slaughter as the huscarls clove deep into the combat.

Amagan smashed aside the last Executioner who bared his way, the Marines power axe snapping in twain as he collided with the bulkhead. Then they were there, before the door to the primary engine vault. The life source of the entire Star Fortress. Multiple loyalist assaults were being carried out upon the Ring of Steel that surrounded Badab Primaris, but it was the Sons of Medusa who were going to deliver the blow that would signal the beginning of the end for Lugft Huron and his traitors.

"Stand aside, Amagan."

With a squeal of servos the hulking terminator moved out of his masters way, bringing his shield to his chest in a sign of respect. His huscarls mirrored his movement as their war leader stalked between them. Standing fully another head above even those venerated suits of Terminator armour, Vaylund Cal was more machine than man. His battle armour was completely custom crafter for his own mechanical body. A body that was built for war, Amagan had seen Vaylund sparring with the ancient brethren who occupied Dreadnought war mantles. He would not have believed it had he not witnessed it. The Iron Thane strode past, the deck shuddering under his bulk, his servo clamp snapping open and closed in anticipation of violence. In complete silence the war leader set upon the door with hammer, chain saw and plasma cutter. Within minutes the bulk head was reduced to scrap metal and molten slag, with Vaylund Cal stooping underneath the hole he had wrenched apart.

Amagan heard his master begin to dispatch the engine vaults defenders with cold precision. The veteran leader signalled his brethren to follow him as the rest of their war clan spread throughout this section of the fortress. Stepping through the breach, Amagan witnessed the last defender sawn in half by Vaylund Cal's underslung chainsaw, before being engulfed in a blossom of ignited prometheum. The smoking corpse thudded to the floor, oozing half cooked innards. Amagan cast his head about, thirteen he counted. Thirteen Space Marines had been sundered, smashed, crushed, torn and utterly destroyed in the time it took him to follow his master and commander. He stood and watched Vaylund discard his power hammer, leaving the head embedded in the chest of an Executioner Chaplain, the energy field continuing to burn away the corpses torso. The Iron Thane strode towards the gigantic power couplings that dominated the room, smoke trailing from the numerous weapons impacts upon his armoured form.

Amagan witnessed a sight that day that would stay with him forever. He watched his master and commander tear apart the beating heart of the rebel defence. Five metres of reinforced adamantium and plasteel cabling cracked open, torn from its wall mounting and severed like the head of some mythical serpent. Vaylund Cal tore the power lines apart with his armoured hands and Amagan watched as the star fortress began to power down around them. The fortress was thiers, the resitance had been dealt a mortal blow. The final assault against the Palace of Thorns was now a reality. Amagan allowed himself a secret smile of pride, knowing that none of the rest of his loyalist brethren could have achieved such a victory as this. He'd punish himself later of course, but for now he gazed upon his master with awe and if he was honest, worship.

I present my finished iteration of Vaylund Cal, Iron Thane and High Artificer of the Atropos War Clan of the Sons of Medusa.

I got home from work yesterday to find a package from Forge World waiting for me on my desk. Inside were my Astral Claws decals, Lufgt Huron and the Techthralls with Mitralocks I'm using as a base for my Dissection servitors. I finished the painting and decals on my Apothecary Vivisector last night and started the conversion for the Dissection Servitors this morning.

Every thing is looking fantastic in this thread guys! has made me start picking up the paintbrush again.

Keep it going, excited to join in with some more Raptors in the coming days

EDIT: As a headups to all the Badab players here, Forgeowlrd seem to be selling IA9 and IA10 in a bundle of two for cheaper than each book seperately. Not sure if this is a mistake or not, but its too good not to pass up on! http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Armour_Books

Here's the fluff for my Corpse Taker unit:

"The Harvest"

The Exorcist marine dragged his broken, bleeding body forward through the rubble of his squad mates. The Astral Claws' Vindicator had caught them in the open and laid waste to them with it's Demolisher cannon. The Exorcist shook his head weakly, not understanding how the vehicle had caught them so unaware. He knew he was dying and would soon be dead with the rest of his squad.

Through the choking miasma of dust and smoke, he viewed a power armored figure approaching their position rapidly. He could just make out the distinct shape of the Narthecium on the figure's right arm. He released a deep breath, setting off a round of bloody coughing, but he knew that he and the rest of the squad's gene-seed would return to the chapter. The Apothecary moved quickly amongst the bodies, gathering the precious Progenoid Glands from the dead.

The Exorcist looked up at the approaching figure, "Grant me the Emperor's peace, Brother, and return my gene-seed to the chapter with my battle-brothers."

The figure cocked it's head to one side, almost questioningly, "You won't have to worry about your gene-seed. It will be put to good use." With that, the figure shifted it's position to motion to the figures just beyond him. With that motion, the Exorcist saw the chapter badge of the figure, a 7 pointed star clutched by a black claw: The Tyrant's Legion, the hated Astral Claws. The Exorcist knew this was not just an apothecary, but an Apothecary Vivisector, one of the dreaded Corpse Takers.

The Exorcist struggled to back away, pulling his bolt pistol and firing the remaining rounds at the Corpse Taker. None of the shells penetrated the armor and the Apothecary finally kicked the pistol away and stepped on the Exorcist's broken chestplate. The Exorcist could almost feel the malicious smile of the Apothecary through his helmet as he said , "Don't worry, Brother, your gene-seed will be put to good use in the ongoing war..." and the Narthecium cut through the marine's chest to harvest the precious progenoid from the Exorcist. The Exorcist died as the fleshy organ was pulled from him. The Apothecary motioned to his dissection servitors without a word, knowing that the mindless drones would harvest anything of use for the chapter as they were programmed to do.

The Apothecary looked at the glands in the narthecium and chuckled, "Yes, your gene-seed will be put to good use...by the Tyrant!"

Crazy Eight:  I LOVE that banner.  And no helmets on an entire squad??  lol.

Hello all:  this thread is in fact very inspirational, well done everyone.

My Red Scorpions progress slowly, but here is the newest (and most interesting)--a LR transport for my Master of the Apothecarion (WIP):

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h79/aguave5150/IMG_5360.jpg

All the painting is free-hand, and still WIP.  It needs a load more purity seals, some more detail, then damage/dirt.

I declare this as my OBJECTIVE:  complete this land raider

Wowee! There have been a lot of great updates!

I've got a bit of work done recently. Two more Retaliators ready to carve their way through those too foolish to see the grandeur of the Tyrant's ways.

I need to add something to the sheathed chainswords pommel. Anyways, getting bits together for my corpse-taker and thinking about how to build my strike leader. I originally planned of recreating a past leader built from an emperor's champion but I now want something more unique with more pizzaz. *I also love this word now because the word 'pizza' is in it.

Dreadnought squadron Papau and Chuuk has been activated for support actions.  Venerable dreadnought Cor Esh has been assigned as senior dreadnought.

Four Strike Cruisers, and several squadrons of Hunter, Gladius and Nova frigates make preparations for Rapid assault and blockade duty in the Endymion Cluster.
