EDIT: changed a thing on my objective, captain wargear, only 10 pts diference. Emh... Im probably going to be tweaking the captains wargear a bit until I find a combo I like. Monstra Sumus Posted June 1, 2015 Share Posted June 1, 2015 I'll do a paint order on Payday and pick up a cheap tactical squad. That'll allow me to do Vaylund Cal and a Demi Squad. That way it can be the beginnings of a small Sons of Medusa force......how many allies can you have in a standard game? :p My crusader force is slowly becoming a reality. Monstra Sumus Posted June 2, 2015 Share Posted June 2, 2015 So I had a play about with what models I had, various projects and ideas and I decided to consolidate it all into a small 1000point Unbound Sons of Medusa force to pack a hard punch. Here is Iron Thane Vaylund Cal with his Huscarls mounted in their War-Karve and an escort of Saga-Forged. The Big Man himself. His Huscarls led by Hersir Amagan The War-Karve The Saga-Forged These are Iron Clad Dreadnoughts, missing their CCW currently as I have to order some right hand versions from eBay. Pictured below is my Seismic Hammer/Chainfist. The idea behind is the force of the CCW provides the stopping power while the grinding claw in conjunction with the dual meltas cut through any bulkhead/armour plating before unleashing a torrent of either flamer fire or a hail of storm bolter rounds at extreme close range. Here is the vanguard of War Clan Atropos. The idea I have is to either run it on it's own for small games at my local club or run it in conjunction with both of my other forces. War Clan Atropos pushing the right flank, Razorback mounted assault veterans from the Knights Vermilion rushing the left flank, all the while an implacable advance from my Marines Malevolent form a punishing firing line. That's the idea anyway. However, it's strictly War Clan Atropos of the Sons of Medusa for this thread, and who knows, maybe I'll add two squads of Tactical's to it later on and make it a legal army! Haven't had a chance to use the command tanks yet as I need a new case to transport the Sons but I am very much looking forward to trying them out. Brother Tyrax is that the plasma blastgun off an epic FW Warhound on Vaylund's back? Also I love what you've done with the dreadnoughts. Monstra Sumus Posted June 3, 2015 Share Posted June 3, 2015 Bashed some more Sons of Medusa up, got some Tacticals on order and some Plasma Cannons plus the paints so I should be able to work painting the Big Man in a few days. Only problem I'm coming up against is trying to source a Right Arm Dreadnought CCW that doesn't cost the bloody earth. I need two and I just can't justify spending the price of a Tactical Squad for two. At this rate I might just give them Hurricane Bolters and be done with it. Anyway, onto the work. So instead of just making this an unbound allied detachment, I decided to upgrade it to a full army. 1500 points of face punchy goodness for Badab. I started two Tactical Squads and tinkered with my rescued Predator to make it an Executioner, what do you guys think? Does it work? List comes to 1515 points. Vaylund Cal Assault Terminators Land Raider Redeemer Twin Iron Clads Twin Plasma block Tactical Squads Predator Executioner with ignores cover LoG I have considered maybe bumping it to 1750 with a Dual claw plasma blaster Contemptor later on down the line to lead the Ironclads into battle. Stick his head in or get singed ears :p I've left it so the plasma cannons can be raised and lowered and I'd run out of rhino caps so had to use the "You're good for another foot, Dave" set up. Reldn Posted June 3, 2015 Share Posted June 3, 2015 Instead of waiting around for a box of Tactical Marines to come in, I think I have enough extra Marines to assemble for my SoM squad. I can hopefully get some of them assembled and pics up tonight. They'll be nothing special, just a 10-man Tac squad, and I'm not sure on their loadout right yet.
