An Astral Claws and Tyrant's Legion log

Hello brothers and sisters! Levi again and this time I would like to introduce you to my Astral Claws and Tyrant's Legion. This is actually more of a huge painting/modelling project than an actual gaming army like my Blood Angels and Skitarii, as I want to take my time with them and really focus on the painting and modelling part. And also write down the fluff for the characters (what every other self respecting Astral Claws player seems to do) and give the models some thought instead of hastily slapping them together to get them ready for the next gaming evening msn-wink.gif So yeah, it's gonna be a slow project but a one to be proud of methinks (and it's also an excuse to buy Forge World stuff *cough**cough*).

Anyways, on to the projects!

++Astral Claws++
Not much painted stuff yet I'm afraid. But here's a test mini I did to see if I could make the colour scheme work:

Still pretty happy about this guy and I hope I can get the rest of the force on par with this one pr even better. The rest of his squad is in the painting queue!

Corien Sumatris, the Tyrant's Champion. A more calm rendition of Corien than the ones you find on the web. I envisioned him standing on the spearhead of the Astral Claws force, commanding his troops in the name of the Tyrant (he's also captain of the second company after all). Still need to build his bolter with servo arm and when I paint him, I'll add some blood spatters to hint on his ruthlessness.

A really simple kitbash and strait from the first Badab War book: Seneca on a prowl, looking for fallen Space Marines. Since he's gonna be my Corpse Taker, I'll use some servitors from the techmarine kit that can tag along with him.

A very WIP tactical squad. Ordered some Mark V armours sometime ago to boost the ranks.

Bases:

Sometime ago I ordered some spiffy bases from Dark Arts Miniatures and painted them all in one go! They are still a bit bare but I'll add grass and tufts after I put on the models themselves. The test mini stands on one of these bases and it looks really good.

So far the Astral Claws side (for now!). I also have a landspeeder ready and some bikers for the Iron Hunter squad. I want to greenstuff some pelts and skull trophies on those bikers to emphasise the "hunter" part more though. But pics will follow when they're updated.

++Tyrant's Legion++

Ah yes, the Tyrant's Legion. So much conversion possibilities! To go all out fluff and modeling wise, I just made my own little legion, the XCVIIth (97th that it). It will feature units from Badab Primaris itself and some from other planets and even a fun penal guard-ish unit.

Here's what's currently in the works:

A (nameless as of yet) Centurion:

The centurion of the XCVIIth legion. A high and mighty character but no worries, the Retaliators will be a whole lot more grittier. They represent the darker side of the Astral Claws.

Soon to be Command Detachtment:

Some cannon fodder- I err mean the start of a Legion Auxilia Command Detachment (still need a prefect and some bodyguards). Love to put some heraldry stuff like that flag in there so the Cadian Command squad sure came in handy! I did had to sand off all the bloody markings on his flag, to make room for some spiffy freehand later on smile.png

Some ogryns for a Renegade Marauder Squad. Actually you need just two in that squad but I just couldn't let one go to waste. They are still awaiting some mutations to be sculpted on them. And some chaos cultist are ready to join these buggers.

Very nice. I think that assault marine badge needs a little bit of weathering. It stands out because it's undamaged. But besides that, a promising start. :tu:

Weelll hello guys!
About time I update this little blog! Sorry for the absence and lack of updates ( on this thread and my other one). But I had a little hiatus on the Imperium side of the hobby (Greenskins stormed my painting desk), but now with the awesome Tale of 8 Gamers - Badab War edition project I'll be kicking things back into gear!

So, I'll post work in progress stuff here to keep you guys updated and so I don't have to spam the project thread too much msn-wink.gif

Here's the army list of 1000 points I'll be painting for the Tale of 8 Gamers project:

Still toying around with the weapon upgrades though. And I'm not really keep on the equipment of the Centurion has but that will be fixed later.
I really tried to make it as fluffy and fun as I could; with a blob of human shields at the front (poor sods), Astral Claws to bully them around, some bikers to race ahead and catch objectives and last but least; big guns!

So, pretty excited to get working on this! biggrin.png I already started off with the Auxilia Armsmen Cadre. These boys are the more specialized than the Legion Auxilia:

The tyrant's legion look great!!! Do you have plans to expand the army beyond the initial 1000p of the tale?

Thanks Thrillhouse! I will be expanding the Tyrant's Legion/Astral Claws beyond this project, yes! biggrin.png I have lot's of characters in mind that I would like to build and paint, including the Tyrant himself and his partner in crime Armenneus Valthex.

Finished painting the nine dudesmen of the Tyrant's Legion! Only left now is to put some decals on them, but that will have to wait till them weekend, when I'm at my parent's house *sign*. Anyway, excuses aside, here are some pictures for ya!

Those are looking nice. I like the grey fatigues and black armor with a touch of blue.

 

A shame their battlefield lifespan can be measured in seconds...

This army is really shaping up great. I like the list alot, it has a good mix of astartes and tyrants legion, it has bikes but it still feels like a marine list. And of course both the marines and the militarum models look great.

 

Thanks man! I'm reaaaally stoked on working on the Legion Auxilia who represent the people of Vega III! They will look a bit like the dudes above but have other, less effective weapons and armour. I also want to add some criminal scum in there to act as meatshields for the meatshields haha.
