Stofficus
Speaking of Volkite Grenades, in the Imperial Fists section of Extermination (I'll try and find the page again, I think it was the Battle of Phall section) they make mention of using "Volkite Imploders". I think those were capital-class weapons. Torpedo warheads for battleships and the like. There's something to consider in terms of raw destructive power - capital class volkite. That sort of thing even makes Ordinatii pause. Volkite exterminatus anyone? Skalpynock
You guys may be aware of my project to field an Early Crusade force, back when there were no primarchs but each legion already had developed its identity? Well screw it, I'm not gonna put a single bolter there. All tactical squads will wield Mars-Omega pattern chargers and calivers, regardless of what the rules say 'cause I don't play. Heavy bolters? Nah, they shall know only Culverins. Contemptor-Choomortis dreads escorting Cascade-wielding Deredeos into battle. In the name of Terra and Mars, and by the Raptor, I swear to make this a reality. depthcharge12
For the ordinates weapon, I really like the rotating blade idea of the Colombiad. For the rules, make it something different from a weapon that already has the same profile :P I recommend using the beam rule, but you're allowed to move the line up to 8" either right or left as sort of a "sweep" attack. Also, Athrawes killed my Spartan with 10 Volkite Culverins and misfortune...is there a badge for that? :D P.S. How do you want pictures? I have batrep photos of my guys but don't have pictures of the rolls, so can I still qualify for a CHOOM badge of honor? Okay, crazy as it is, the rotating Carronades are in. The jury is still out on the weapon profile, though. ;) Also, Athrawes killed my Spartan with 10 Volkite Culverins and misfortune...is there a badge for that? Not yet... P.S. How do you want pictures? I have batrep photos of my guys but don't have pictures of the rolls, so can I still qualify for a CHOOM badge of honor? Here's the rub - this is a thread about Volkites. Therefore, if there's Volkites being shown, that's fine. Now, you can have a membership badge, no problem. However, if want to qualify for a 'reward' badge, then you'll have to earn it. Although I won't give you a short cut, I will accept a batrep as a kill-claim. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308805-martian-death-ray-club/page/2/#findComment-4075673 Share on other sites

Soldier of Dorn
All right, new home brew rules for the Eddy: The Deredeo may replace its Anvilus pattern autocannon battery with a single twin-linked Volkite Ballistra... +35pts May replace twin-linked heavy bolter with a single twin-linked volkite charger... +10pts Volkite Ballistra Range 32" S 7 AP 4 Heavy 6, Deflegrate What do you think? At least somewhat balanced? Unfortunately I don't have my books on me, so I can't check, but I think it's OK. Urauloth
Volkites are my favourite kind of weapon in Warhammer, I really can't wait to get around to my Heresy-era project so I can start equipping everything with them. I'm going to have to admire them from a distance for right now (except for a few display minis) - although if I get a Codex: Cult Mechanicus magos up and running in 40k, can I claim kills with him? He does have one the the 41st millennium's few remaining MDR relic weapons, after all. As for suggestions, there's still plenty of archaic terminology left untapped for naming volkite weapons, and I think we need a few additions to the arsenal at some point, so, how does a volkite houfnice sound? A volkite saker, make? A volkite yedinorog? For its point cost I'd recommend this profile, but again it's your idea :) : Range 36" S7 AP3 Heavy 6 Deflagrate Makes it deadly towards marines, which would make sense due to its larger capacitor banks. Besides that it sounds like it's in the ballpark. although if I get a Codex: Cult Mechanicus magos up and running in 40k, can I claim kills with him? You'll get a straight up yes on that. Kill a character with that and write a good little scene about it and that there is your kill-claim. :tu: Urauloth 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308805-martian-death-ray-club/page/2/#findComment-4075752 Share on other sites

v6v77
I very much like the idea of something akin to grav amps for them. Maybe alter profiles to be either high strength low ap single shot or more shots at standard profile and then a disperesed flamer template at low strength high ap. Example Volkite caliver with fusion cells (+10pts per model ontop of volkite cost) Focused beam ; S7 Ap3 heavy(or ordinance?) 1 lance Normal profile Coil dump (name anyone for an emergency vent style thing) ; S5 ap5 assault 1 template blind And also in regards to heavier version. How about something akin to the nanyte blasters large blast template after a succesful kill. No propogarion but would be a great horde mincer. Personally, if you're 'amping' volkites, I think permanently nudging the strength up by one and the AP down by one would seem sensible, and perhaps give them a 'Gets Hot!' drawback or something. Slips
If you're Amping Volkites, you could make it a more Costly Upgrade (a Flat 75/100 points) for the whole Squad that would do as Above: +1S -1Ap but make the Weapon have a 1mm Beam and Gets Hot! I think that'd be fair, no? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308805-martian-death-ray-club/page/2/#findComment-4075805 Share on other sites
