Thorphax Posted June 9, 2015 Share Posted June 9, 2015 Hey everyone, So I've been playing Death Korps for the longest time, and recently with all the new books and updates to Horus Heresy, I thought it would be the right time to jump in and start a second army ( The only other army I will ever play, this stuff gets real expensive, real fast ), in the 30k universe, which is by far one my most favorites in terms of lore and deapth. However... I had NEVER even touched a Space Marines, or Legion Astartes for that matter. How they play, how they flow, their strategies, tactics, builds.... nothing clicks. So that was definitely a challenge. So first things first, picking an army. This was a tough call! Many of them had awesome rules and cool playstyles, so let's find something that fits what i like doing most: Shooting things to smithereens. Raven Guard, World Eaters and Night Lords? Too charge-y. Ultramarines and Alpha Legion? VERY complicated tactics. Sons of Horus, Iron Warriors, Iron Hands, Emperor's Children? Rules and visuals + pallette were really not appealing to me ( Horus himself will be a collection model tho, definitely ), Word Bearers? Awesome looks, not a fan of magic in general as the main source of your army. Left me with two choices, Death Guard and Imperial Fists. Boy... those two are both cool looking AND crazy awesome rules. In the end tho, I felt Imperial Fists fit me the most, had a nice color pallete, excellent rules, among other things that appealed to me outright, for the 30k universe. So I did my research, read a BUNCH of lore, rules, unit reviews, FoCs, RoWs, got some of the books through a friend of mine, and so on. That plus talking to a friend who has been 40King for twice the amount I have ( and is in the UK, which means he 30Ks all the time ), I have come up with THREE variants of a 3000 pts Legion Imperial Fists army. I shall post them as follow, and I would be delighted if all of you experienced, fine people could provide me with insights, critiques, tactics, possible changes, which list you like the most, etc. Voice up what you like and dislike about these lists if you can, I would love to hear it, and it will help me build up a proper list, and not blow $$$ in ForgeWorld on things that I will innevitably never use ( If I'm buying an army like this from scratch, I might as well buy what I will use, and not a one-game deal, so getting the perfect army list is even more important, in the beggining such as it is now ) Here are the lists: For the sake of organization, ALL lists use the follow: Basic 30k Foc ( Battles in The Age of Darkness ), RoW Pride of The Legion, Imperial Fists Special Rules.
