Epher
Now that's a bunch of great looking Guardians! The lion banner is killer. I like it! Also, great job on the crossed swords on the land raider. I never would have thought to do that.  Silverwing?? Naw... more like Metalwing!! <<Insert Air Guitar Smiley Here>>  But really, Silverwing works great. I have been calling them Greenwing despite the color difference. I think I will make the change. Wrath of Bruinen
Small update, Ven Dread for an upcoming tournament. Epher
This guy is looking pretty good! I found it hard to settle on a color scheme for my GotC. Good choice for yours! I would not have thought of using a hooded head for the interred. It goes well with the robed theme.  Is the arm magnetized or is it the weapon inside? Or... are there two models? Wrath of Bruinen
Cheers for the positive comments! Â Epher, the ven dread kit is great, it provides enough components to make all three weapon arms. So it's just a matter of pulling one arm off and putting the other one on, no magnetising needed :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309279-theweepingangels-guardians-of-the-covenant/#findComment-4112443 Share on other sites
Epher
The Venerable Dread kit is not something that I have not purchased yet. I have acquired one that is in the queue for stripping and painting. Unfortunately, the assembler glued both arms on. It will be painted in Deathwing colors. The grey paint on the body panels looks great too! Darkn3ssF4lls
I am getting ready to paint my stuff come a few weeks, I was trying to decide how to paint them.  Apothecaries are white yes? Librarians are blue Chaplins are their black gray color  Green wing " " would be the gray with the red shoulder pads yea? What color is the Ravenwing? full gray? that doesn't seem right What color is their Deathwing? that red color? Wrath of Bruinen
There's no hard and fast rules with the colours - they're your miniatures after all. Â You're right about the colours for apothecaries, librarians and chaplains, although for example I did my librarian grey armour with blue robes just for a bit of a change. Â "Greenwing" is silver/grey armour, red robes (if any) and black shoulder pads. For my deathwing, I decided to try and follow the inverted colour scheme of the dark angels - so where dark angels have bone robes and the deathwing have bone armour, I decided to give my deathwing red armour because of the red robes of the GotC. There's no right or wrong way with that though - I've seen lots of people do their deathwing in silver armour and it looks cool too. Â I haven't painted much of my ravenwing yet. In an older codex, they did have a picture of a GotC ravenwing biker, who, as you say, was all silver and had a silver bike. I wasn't really a fan of that scheme, so my ravenwing have black bikes with red "wings". However, for my landspeeders and flyers (I have a nephilim WIP that will go up soon hopefully), I have gone with a bone colour scheme, to keep with the "inversion" of the dark angels. Again though, there are no hard and fast rules and it's up to you! Â Hope that helps Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309279-theweepingangels-guardians-of-the-covenant/#findComment-4113364 Share on other sites
Wrath of Bruinen
An update from this weekend's efforts, 3 drop pods for an upcoming tournament. Really happy with how they turned out, especially the middle one ("The Oncoming Storm", my chapter master's personal pod) Hope you all enjoy! Father Mehman
I'd never thought to have a personal Drop Pod. That's a really good idea! Very cool, too. Wrath of Bruinen
Hello all,  Between thesis writing and moving house I haven't been able to make much progress of late, but I did manage to go to a tournament over the weekend so I thought I'd share a few thoughts I had/lessons I learned in case it's of any benefit to others.  I took a Ravenwing-heavy force (first time I'd done this as I've never been a big fan of bikes), but now I am completely sold on them! List was as follows (1500 pts):  Sammael (on jetbike) 6 man RW command squad with apoth, champ and RW banner 5 man tac squad 5 man tac squad 6 man RW squad with power sword on sarg 3 man RW squad with 2x meltas 3 man RW squad with 2x meltas 5 man DW command squad with apoth RW support squadron (3x Typhoon speeders and a Darkshroud)  All games used Maelstrom as the primary mission, with secondary and tertiary objectives being first blood, wipe your opponent etc.  Game 1: My first game was against a Imperial Fists battle company with the almost obligatory razorback spam, a few of the SM anti-air tanks, and a Culexus. It was quite intimidating to be facing the sheer mass of models he had on the board, most of it ob sec, but we were playing on a cities of death style board with heaps of ruins so he got into a bit of a traffic jam. I was able to just put my head down and play to the objectives and raced to an early lead, so he conceded at the end of turn 3 or 4.  Standout unit was one of the melta bike squads, who were able to pop enough razorbacks for my other squads to shoot everything inside, and then survive brilliantly in my opponent's phase - seriously, he poured his entire army into them on the second turn and they passed every single jink save. I've never rolled that well in my life! The black knights were also superb, destroying a tank, a squad of marines through overwatch, a captain, chaplain and culexus assassin.  Game 2: Second game was against harlequins, which I'd never played before and man did it show! I took an absolute beating. Standout unit was probably my RW support squadron, mainly because it survived the longest. It managed to net me a few objective cards though so that was a bonus.  Game 3: Final game was against eldar, he had a few units of bikes, a farseer, 2 units of the wraith guard with D weapons (one unit was the D flamers!!!), and some warp spiders and fire dragons. This was the closest and most enjoyable game of the day. The first few turns I took quite a beating, but I was able to play to my objectives to end up winning 9-7. After the first few turns of carnage, I only had the black knights, Sammael, the dark shroud and the terminators, so he was left shooting at either a 2+ armour with 5+ FNP terminators, or a 2+ re-rollable jink - needless to say he didn't do much damage in the last few turns. Star unit was the black knights, who (with the help of the dark shroud) endured turn after turn of firepower with their jinks, before decimating wraith guard, fire dragons and some bikes in my own turns, plus racing around nabbing objectives all day.   Overall I had a super fun day (which is the most important thing). I'm so happy with the black knights, as I love the kit but had been reluctant to go down the biker path. In hindsight I don't know if I would worry about the champion upgrade, given that the corvus hammers are so good, but he's only 5 points so it's not that big a deal. Other than that I'm not sure that there's anything I would change about the list, I think it's now more a matter of playing a few more games with it and getting familiar with the army.  Finally, my advice for anyone still reading this would be: invest in some black knights and a dark shroud and thank me later. They are both incredible kits, and together they are all but unstoppable on the table.  Cheers, TWA Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309279-theweepingangels-guardians-of-the-covenant/#findComment-4159611 Share on other sites

Wrath of Bruinen
Command squads (of any sort) are now just elites, you don't need a HQ choice to go with them anymore. Â At least, I think!! The DW apoth didn't really do much anyway though so they could have just been a normal squad Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309279-theweepingangels-guardians-of-the-covenant/#findComment-4159790 Share on other sites

Wrath of Bruinen
Hello all, Progress remains slow due to work piling up around me, but hey, without work I wouldn't have the money for more miniatures so I guess it's a balance. Just thought I'd share my last remaining Space Hulk terminators - it's a cracker of a game and I highly recommend it to anyone who might be thinking about getting it. But anyway, on to the pictures. First off, my Brother Librarian Aristotle - he got a verrrrryyyy minor conversion - swapped out whatever was on top of his book back banner thing for the top of a DA veterans backpack. Subtle but effective, I think. Next up we have the assault cannon terminator from Dark Vengeance - he is simply too badass not to go into the Hulk haha And finally, Claudius, because if you don't do a Wolverine pose with your lighting claws, you're not doing it right! Cheers, TWA Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309279-theweepingangels-guardians-of-the-covenant/#findComment-4183142 Share on other sites
Epher
Great work on the terminators! I like the shading and the highlighting on them. The detailing on the head of the terminator with the assault cannon, it looks like hand to me. May I ask if that is a mark for veterans?
