Well, here is a thallax that I've gone and done. Not so impressive for a month's work, but I like him!

Last day for completions boys and girls!

STUNNING!!! How long did it take you to do those checkers? All of it comes together for almost a cinematic piece.

Got my before and after shots ready. Had a game with a bunch of the new stuff and discovered how much a like not having to take panic checks from shooting. Super satisfying.

Kor'Vesh: Love the Thallax. I can just imagine him go "Thallax-03 phone hoooomeeeee" in binary cant.

Rage of Khorn: Did those lovely Iron Warriors feel intimidated at all by the yellow-bellied Imperial Fists?

Miiight just get some hobby time in today...

Greetings!

Again lost in the warp for some time, but I finished my vow (actually I did it nearly two weeks ago, but I was unable to upload the pictures). I didn't named it yet, and it lacks the Iron Hand on it as I haven't found any suitable decals.

Unfortunately it seems that I won't be able to make any vow in September as the metal and black paint pots got empty and the resupply will take too many time (no local hobby stores). On the other hand I would like to make an order from Forge World again with one or two Contemptors and maybe some traitor marines before the end of September. Finally, last month I received a second Knight, which I started to build in favour of the Warmaster. Painting it will be a big challenge, but I cannot wait to have enough time to do it. I think you will see it in October ;-)

Congratulations all on your completions! There are some truly excellent tiny men this month, Kor's Thallax, Jud & Dantioch's Ultras, Ironwithout's Fists and Rage's everything being highlights for me.

I apologise for my absence this month... Real life has taken a bit of a toll. However! I've now gone a full 12 months since the inception of the Casual 30K thread without a failing a single one of my vows, which is something I'm proud of! I haven't tallied up (or photographed) everything I've done, but it's a big heap of Space Marines.

Which brings me to a sadder note... I'm going to be taking some time out of the hobby to get my mojo back. I won't be pledging anything next month, as my wife and I are off on our first holiday together since October 2013 tomorrow, and then my Mum's coming to visit from Australia until the beginning of October. We'll see where I'm at then, as hopefully the enforced time off will get me back into the swing of things.

Anyway! Let me celebrate this year long milestone with some terrible pictures!

The picture of Typhon in particular is terrible, and I'm going to have to take some more, because (as I hope you can see from the face), he's literally the best thing I've ever managed to paint, better even than Angron.

I'm still feeling my way with the Iron Hands a bit, but I like these guys better than the last lot I did back in April.

Anyway! I shall see you all in a couple of weeks!

Sorry guys, I cant get my recon marines done! First try at this and it was a bust... My apologies. Moving house and work have just not given me the time to get done, or atleast not on time anyways.

I know my failings, and I will be sure to correct them.

MindOfMetal, being of solitary speculatory skill did correctly deduce that it was a tech-thrall in the making. There will be a picture or two for next months challenge but for now...I'll be satisfied with having failed this month...

Not quite at the level of completion I usually strive for, but they are more than tabletop ready in my books, so im calling them finished!

And a group shot of my pledge:

Hey guys,

Thanks for the huge positive response to my small checked robot. I've been lacking a bit of inspiration lately, but that gave me something of a lift!

Stru - sorry to see you on a break, but thanks for your dedication to the thread over the last year sir. We'll see you in few weeks after a well earned holiday!

Dantay - I thought you were done already!

DimDim - that is a MKII command squad helmet, right? I think I've finally settled on that command set having seen Dallo finished!

I'll work up a post mortem soon guys!

August Post-mortem

Well team, we have reached the end of another month, and I have to say I'm loving the current trend in this thread:

  • High completion rate - We are seeing both teams really sticking to their pledges, and constantly high completion rate in the thread these days.
  • High quality - The quality in here is always commented on by new people. We've got some great work going on, and you are all doing great work for the heresy forum!
  • An all or nothing approach to vow work - People are completing everything, or working on everything at once. This have given us a lot of neophytes this month - and in all cases these people seemed to work on multiple models throught the month, and posted updates.
  • Awesome support - great comments and compliments on work are the norm. Excellent motivation to all fraters will be found right here!

So having said all that - how did it go this month? Well, here are the numbers and the lists of work done:

Pledges

 Traitors 4 - 16 Loyalists

Score

Traitors 34 - 157 Loyalists

Completion Rate - where it really counts

Traitors 73.91% - 75.66% Loyalists

So, despite serious asymmetry in the teams, it was once again, VERY tight on the completion rate. The Loyalists just sneak it, but having both teams over 70% is great work.

In the individual rankings we have the power house that is Rage of Khorne, once again securing the Warmaster's Champion accolade. In the loyalist camp Iron Without, an new player crushed all competition, painting a 64 point Imperial Fist army in August. Welcome aboard August's Emperor's Champion!
