Leman Russ - Conqueror update

So after much thought (at least 15 seconds) i've finally given in to the lure of treads and purchased a Cadian Defense Force box set.  My eventual aim is to acquire some bigger tanks (a Machurius Vulcan and Crassus they look cool).  But for now I'm going to start small with a Leman Russ Conqueror.

Problem is I can't find any mention on GW or FW for Conqueor parts, I will be checking ebay.  I assume that it is entirely possible to build a Conqueror and wondered if anyone had suggestions for where I start or kits that  I can raid for parts?

Thanks

The Conqueror is a bit of an IRL relic, back from the olden FW days before we had all the variants we have now so it has all but vanished. It's basically a scaled down battle cannon so you could just chop one down to be shorter or use a bit of piping to create a stubbier barrel. Easy peasy :)

You need a Forge World Conqueror turret?

I have one that I planned to put on Ebay. Just for you I will get off my but and post it there if you are interested

I think it'd look great on a Chimera, a good autocannon counts as or just something a bit different smile.png Converting the Eradicator could work, I'm thinking replacing the end with the battle cannon one?

I'd like to see what it looks like. It looks about the same height, but it also looks smaller in terms of footprint...it might not look right when viewed from above?

Agreed. The Conqueror has a lot of fluffy benefits, but I don't see it being very useful crunch-wise. Its the same price as a basic Russ, and while its main gun is heavy instead of ordnance, it lacks either fast or heavy, which means that you can still only fire one weapon per phase at full BS if you move.

A Conqueror could be a nice counts-as for an Eradicator, though.

thanks for all the replies.

The only rule I worry about in 40K is the rule of cool, I've always liked the Conq and it will make a great looking comand tank and more importantly an interesting project.  Guess if it ever makes it to the table top I could just run as a standard Russ.

Assuming the build goes well (I haven't attempted a GW vehicle kit since the Rhino with the roof rack) Ideally I'd like to have at 6 Russes - 1 x Demo, 1x Vanq, 1 x Erad, 1 x Conq & 2 x Standard.

First thing is to build the Russ and sort the turret and gun.  Hopefully I can get started this weekend and I'll try and get some pictures up.

It does suit a command tank doesn't it? That would be what I do with it; give it some buffs in some form and a lighter gun to represent it's primary purpose of organising the armour to victory. Or maybe that's too much CoH of late? :P I'm keen to see the pictures when you have them :)

I'm actually thinking about picking up the FW mars alpha executioner as my second tank if the build goes well on the conq (and I quit smoking, little reward).  Unfortunately, I managed to slice open the tips of the fingers on my right hand over the weekend whilst hoovering my car so work has been delayed.  I've heard lots of horror stories about fw vehicle kits over the years and was wondering how easy their Russ and Machirius kits are to assemble?
