  • Jackel: All these matches were tight, but I think that he could do with a small boost along the lines of Master-crafted on his Axe. Also there is currently no reason to us his bite over his axe. An alternative to the MC axe could be to make the bite an additional attack that works in the same way as a servo-arm. So that will give him a use for it and add a little buff to his fighting ability.

Sorry, I completely missed this a month ago :unsure.: . But something like an extra attack with the following profile?

Range   S    AP    Type:

   -        X2    1       Melee, Unwieldy, Throat Ripper

Throat Ripper:

on a to wound roll of a 6, that wound has the instant death special rule

Yenah. I remembered but as he is a traitor. I would love if somebody would rip the one out again. Just for the action sequence

Thats actually a really good idea. I imagine it would be Pionus, as he designed and intergrated it, and Jackel does some particularly nasty backstabbing to him. Maybe this could happen at Terra or close to?

Yeah. Or as pionius fights morro we could have another duel. I am thinking on niklaas for no particular reason, caise as the siege master he is of course there. Maybe yo bite his face to a bloody mess and he will be scared forever. But he let jackal bite him in the first place in order to take the chance so he can get a hold of jackal and then rips the jaw from him before he whirls him around or something like that.

Some sword in the scabbard style of fighting. Where the scabbard is your body and you let the enemy pierce you, so thst you can strike a fatal blow.

Icarion the Stormborn                                               490 points

Icarion Anasem, The Guiding Star, The First Son, The Watcher, The Storms Eye

Icarion was the Primarch of the Lightning Bearers, and a paragon of the Great Crusade to his younger brothers. A charismatic leader, and mystical warrior sage of heartbreaking grace, Icarion proved himself time and again, over the course of the great Crusade as a Warrior and a Commander second only to the Emperor. Years at the Emperor's side, an unmatched tally of compliances, and peaceful, harmonious worlds left in his legions wake, set Icarion apart from his brothers, who bestowed upon him an affection and reverence befitting his role as their fathers close councilor. So it was that when the Emperor stood apart from the Burden of command of the Great Crusade, it was to Icarion that many looked to take up their fathers mantle. But the fates, and designs of the Emperor would see this burden placed upon another; Icarion's closest brother Alexandros. Through the manipulations of the Warp, and through a fracture in the fabric of reality, Icarion was shown the fate his legion would someday meet in fire and blood, lost and Forgotten. To his eyes, were shown the deceptions of the Emperor, and the tragic lie of his Imperial truth. So it was that a seed of doubt and frustration was planted, and Icarion moved to rally his brothers, to protect them from the callous disregard of their aloof father and his quest for godhood. From, this revelation a plan would be put into motion that would eventually see the galaxy torn apart in bloody insurrection.

Time-lost Aegis

The Time-Lost Aegis is a beautiful and lightweight suit of psychically infused admantium and ceramite plates. Inlaid with powerful psychic wards and and myriad of focusing crystals, the Aegis is said to enhance it's bearers psychic foresight to supernatural levels.

The Time-Lost Aegis Confers a 3+ save and a 3++ Invulnerable save. In a challange, Icarion may choose to use the Armor’s special ability, Rewind.

Rewind:  During a challenge in which Icarion takes at least 1 wound, Icarion may choose to refight the combat from the beginning of that fight sub phase. Resetting wounds and effects from the beginning of the Challenge from that assault phase. Icarion may use this ability only once per challenge.

Note, the Second results must be kept (Even if they are worse)

Thunderchild

One of many technological relics said to have been claimed by a Young Icarion during his expeditions to the dangerous and mysterious techno-vaults of Madrigals past Golden age. Thunderchild is potent spear said to have come from the personal armory of the long since vanquished Thunder king. The weapon throbs with untapped potential and a talented psyker can channel that energy into arc lightning that strikes nearby foes.

Sire of  the Lightning Bearers

When Icarion is in play, all friendly models with Legiones Astartes (Lightning Bearers) special rule gain the Adamantium Will Special rule and also gain +1 to their Leadership to a maximum of 10. Icarion and any unit he joins gains the Hit and Run special rule.

At the beginning of each Psychic Phase, So long as Icarion is on the board, his controlling player may choose to reroll the D6 when generating Warpcharges

Lightning Warfare

A force containing Icarion may seize the initiative on a roll of 4+ where this is allowed in the mission. Additionally, an army with Icarion as it's Warlord, may if wished, begin rolling for Reserves from the first turn of the game (rather than the second).

Honed Combatant

Icarion is an artful and disciplined warrior able to adjust his fighting style in order to best any foe.

At the start of any assault phase in which Icarion is participating in a combat he may elect to use one of the following fighting styles that modify his profile:

Nitojutsu: +2 Strength, -1 Initiative
Naginatajutsu: +2 Initiative, -1 Attacks

Artful Mind

Icarion has been steeped in the mystical lore of Heavens and Madrigal since childhood. Having fully embraced  and mastered the myriad teachings the Astral College, his mind and the secrets it holds are a power few in the galaxy can equal.

Icarion may choose 4 Psychic powers from the Divination or Sanctic psychic Disciplines. Additionally, when generating psychic powers, he may opt to replace any of his psychic powers with the Primaris power of ANY psychic discipline.

Additionally, when rolling on the table for Perils of the Warp, Icarion may roll two dice and choose his result.

++++++++

I know Simison had asked for this a while back but here is the current version of Icarion's rules. This is what we have come up with by tweaking my initial rules, and taking input from Ishagu's rules with Coldwinters help. We are still unsure about the points cost, and would appreciate your help in that regard.

Icarion is the Arch Taitor and so the rules we have represented here were meant to be a rough analog to Horus after a fashion. These rules are meant to represent Icarion during the Great Crusade and Insurrection before his empowerment by the Chaos Gods to fight the Emperor.

Well. I like them and imho it reflects perfectly the image I and I think most of the fraters have from Icarion. But pointwise I would lower him a bit or increase his stats maybe a bit cause the other broverse primarch in that pointrange have higher stats altough i am not the best pointwise. And there is rewund which is a fabulous technique which reminds me of itachi uchiha;) hi, i am fuzzy eyebrows teacher ;)

By the way: the sketch is awesome. Where is it from?

Gotta remember being a Psyker's worth quite a lot in 30k.

Only change I'd make - give him the same special rule for using Sanctic powers that Grey Knights have, feels wrong for him to potentially fry his brain so easily.

Thanks for the input guys.

@Mikhal: The goal was to put him as just shy of 500 pts, to put him in the same category as Horus. Mikhal, if you feel he is currently too expensive for what he offers, what would suggest adding? How does he look in comparison to his brothers, his baseline version (before ascension) should be able to (like horus) either match or exceed the co,bat capabilities of his brothers. What would need to change to achieve this.

@Raktra: I definitely get where you are coming from in terms of the grey knights ability to mitigate perils when using Sanctic. But I kind of want to symbolically leave that off to show that the grey nights train all there lives to fight chaos, so they have a safer understanding of that kind of power (they have proven to be incorruptible by chaos, which is NOT true for Icarion). Maybe a solution might be to give Icarion a strait buff allowing him to roll two dice and pick the result when rolling for perils to mitigate damage?

Edit: Missed your question about the sketch. The sketch is just a WIP Inking that Ibrahem is currently working on. (It's something me and him have been want to try and create for months) It's actually just a snippet of painting. This is only a third of the full picture.

Hard to say. For the canonverse he is great. But here in the broverse you have some primarchs with similar points who are in my limited opinion stronger.

But one thing I would change for sure is his aegis armor. Give it 2+/3++. At least in the broverse

That is a good point, In the Cannon verse there a few tiers of Primarchs, where as in this setting all the primarchs would be top tier in comparison to cannon primarchs. I understand that too, everyone wants their guy to be the strongest at something, but it means this setting doesn't have mid or low tier Primarchs, at least from a points cost standpoint.

It's sort of like a BotL Primarch power creep.

This. So please dont change him, Alexos was designed for cannonverse and now is at the bottomline of the broverse, you can create a broverse worthy Icarion when doing his deamon version ;)

just dont feel like you need to change a perfect profile you made for Icarion.

Yeah. But AO he is considered the strongest and as he is formidable for the canonverse, athrawes is right that this is a top tier collection except for a few others. We have kawil, koschei, alexos who are the low cost primarchs. But especially kawill is deadly against psykers. Would be fun to see him against icarion

And he is the horus of this reality. Actual i would habe voted for Pionius, Morro or Niklaas as Warmaster.;) even if morro has 5 legs and 10 arms ;)

Hmmm, this is a point to ponder.

With a 3++ Rerollable because Prescience? Hit and Run, autohit Strikedown from Assail, he is kinda good.

Only things I'd suggest is confirming is his ability to reroll when dead, (i think he should be allowed to do so, he is the instigator), and the housekeeping on Hit and Run (hnr carries over to squads regardless).

In regards to Balance, Rending, or a flat AP3 on his shooting could make him a fairly considerable ranged threat as well. Smite, Strikedown, and Vortex of Doom in conjunction all are fairly damaging, turning him into a one man artillery squadron nearly.
