Im actually a little sad to see her completed. The journey was just as satisfying as the destination. Amazing piece you have there sir.

I could hardly agree more. It was always in the back of my head to get back to the desk and tackle the next little bit. Now I have other projects to look forward to, but I keep looking at her sideways thinking about what else I could do.

Haha. Yeah? I'll see what I can do. HOWEVER... I still don't really feel like Astartes vehicles rust in the same way a Knight would, being made of ceramite and plasteel instead of sand-casted iron or steel.

So, I don't think I'll be doing the same kind of paint chipping, mapping textures, etc. on marine stuff. I feel like, even when it looks super cool, it's a bit out of place. Scratches and paint chips are fine, and even without rust some streaking will occur so it's not out of the question, but it just wouldn't look the same.

If the community can promise they won't judge me for not making my Land Raider just like the Queen Bee, I'm happy to oblige. Get back to me, K?  ;)

Why thank you, good sir. I'm telling ya, if you ever find an excuse to come down to Iowa... Maybe we should have a B&C get-together with the other midwestern peeps. At least one has recently reached out to me that he's in the area.

By far one of my favorite Knights to date. I love the "Come at me bro" pose and while normally I'm not a big fan of weathering it fits the fluff and what I think a freeblade knight would look like. All the details are top notch. Just wondering though are you still planning on making a model for the pilot? Either way outstanding work!

Magnificent! Looks like some `Eavy Metal/ Golden Demon stuff (in my humble opinion).

There are so many great details...mellow.png The honeycomb- colour scheme! wub.png

I also like the detail-shot, there you see the acid from the stomped necron-constructed melting a hole in the base! Nice!

Overall: thumbsup.gif:tu:jawdrop.gif

I could be wrong, but I don't see her as a medal winner. It's not the style that's popular right now, and honestly the quality isn't anything that required massive amounts of talent. But I do appreciate the kind words and vote of confidence.

Okay maybe not an Award Winner but great nonetheless. My impression was that it would fit very good into an edition of warhammer visions.

Maybe you can send it in.

You know, I used to be part of the 'clean marine' club myself. I had never tried weathering and I didn't care for the look of it except in rare cases. After falling in love with the fluff of Knights and their super-practical construction using basically ancient (read near-modern-era) techniques and materials, I decided they should weather like real machines I'm familiar with. I started researching weathering techniques in prep for the project, bought scores of new, cool hobby toys and went at it.

I gotta tell ya, I haven't had that much fun painting anything in my recent memory. I had so much fun, in fact, I decided to go ahead and redo the entire scheme of my DIY chapter, including battle damage and weathering techniques. I'm a convert, brother. It's a freaking blast.

Yeah, that's very true. I should send it in to WD daily and Visions. Why not?

And just like that, all the pride I've ever had in my own work is as nothing. laugh.png

That beast is a masterpiece. Gotta say that Regina Apis crest steals the show for me. Bravo sir. thumbsup.gif

Don't be intimidated, dude. Seriously. Remember, I used to strictly paint clean marines, and I had never tried most of the techniques I used in her before. That means, literally, anyone can do this stuff. It took time, and a willingness to go for it despite the potential for disaster, but that's it.

That bit about pride was just a joke, actually. I don't mind breaking my comfort zone when the situation warrants it. I'm even revisiting my old airbrush station, now that I have a butt load of vehicles to paint.

It's a lot of fun at times to dive into new things. For my Broken Arrows, I took on airbrushing, oil washes, weathering, and OSL in one fell swoop. Good times :)

All that aside, the point stands. While it's technically possible for me or anyone else to paint like that, the bottom line is that most of us don't. There's real dedication and love in that model on top of skill and technique, and it shows through splendidly.

In fact, I don't do this often, but you deserve it.

Really now, this is very rare.

Are you ready for your reward?

Brace yourself...

There you go. Enjoy it in good health. :teehee:

Hahaha! For one of the most famously critical members of the board (all constructive, mind) I'll take that as a high compliment. There's been talk about a midwest get together, and you're within range. Any interest in a meetup of some kind down the line? As much as I'd like to visit the City Museum again, I don't have any immediate plans to hit up St. Louis now that my brother no longer lives there.

Don't get too excited. This just means I'll be holding you to a much higher standard from here on. devil.gif

I don't tend to do much travelling anymore, but I guess just keep me in the loop on this get together idea and we'll see. :)

lol. Rest assured: If I get another Knight it will be in full House Tibbetts colors, not the Queen's. She's one-of-a-kind (and I'd be really concerned about the sophomore slump or the the sequel curse. I don't think I could make another one of her if I tried).
