The Acid Dog
Hi everyone! It's been a while since I posted here. Fried computer, and all that. Got a new one, though, and it seems it's just in time for some Plastic Heresy goodness. I've been having trouble choosing a Legion, and I'm stuck somewhere between the Iron Tenth, the Raven Guard, and the Imperial Fists. That said, though, I keep coming back to the Iron Tenth, and I really like the idea of a Dropsite Massacre survivor themed army, and I think that's the direction I'll be going initially. 1500 points of the Iron Tenth (One box) HQ Legion Praetor Cataphractii Armor Cyber-familiar Digital Lasers Iron Father Paragon Blade RoW: Pride of the Legion Legion Consul Vigilator (just because I really, really like crafty hijinks, and I want a Recon squad eventually) Artificer Armor Troops Legion Cataphractii Terminator Squad (5) Sergeant w/ Chainfist 1 Chainfist 3 Powerfist 1 Heavy Flamer Legion Veteran Tactical Squad (10) Tank Hunters Veteran Sergeant w/ Combi-melta Legion Vexilla 2 Meltaguns Meltabombs Legion Veteran Tactical Squad (10) Sniper Legion Vexilla 2 Heavy Bolters w/ Suspensor Web Legion Veteran Tactical Squad (10) Sniper Legion Vexilla 2 Missile Launchers w/ Suspensor Web Elites Legion Contemptor Dreadnought Multi-meltaAnother thing is that I'd really like to get two boxes, but I'm having a hard time building a list out of two in the area of 2000-2250 points. The thing is, I don't want to run too much Mk IV armor in the Iron Hands, since I think MKII and MKIII is more in character for them (added weight and more constrained movement is a complaint of the weak), so I think some Raven Guard Allies would really help me with that. Any suggestions on that part would be most welcome. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315552-noob-list-writing-for-plastic-heresy/ Share on other sites
Theredknight
If your torn and don't want to buy mk3, then wait until jan and you can just do black shields, or a shattered legion list Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315552-noob-list-writing-for-plastic-heresy/#findComment-4213347 Share on other sites
Col.hertford
Why not save mankind instead. Most of the traitors used mkIV extensively. SoH, EC, WE, AL, NL and WB DG and IW didn't, mkII & mkIII mainly not sure about TS. The Acid Dog
If your torn and don't want to buy mk3, then wait until jan and you can just do black shields, or a shattered legion list I DO want to buy Mk III, I was just saying that with two boxes I'd have 60 suits of MkIV, which is too much for me in an Iron Hands Legion list, so some Raven Guard would help with that. Now, what the devil are Black Shields? Loyalists of the traitor legions? Why not save mankind instead. Most of the traitors used mkIV extensively. SoH, EC, WE, AL, NL and WB DG and IW didn't, mkII & mkIII mainly not sure about TS. Save mankind? Brother, the traitors are, at best, misguided. And there is no mercy for the misguided. (I love some of their paint schemes, specifically the Sons of Horus and the World Eaters. Beyond that, there's nothing about any the Traitor Legions that I like.) treadhead
Here's what I'm toying with Two boxes and some jiggling gives us three sixteen strong legion tactical squads leaving twelve spare bodies for a pair of six strong tactical support or heavy support squads depending on your preferences Given the amount of heavy and special weapons per squad on the sprues we've seen it should work out nicely (Better with some magnets though ) As for the terminators so many options The contemptor looks like magnets wont be too much of an issue as well List wise it clocks in at around 2100 pts before a hq is added 3 x 16 legion tactical squads (all the trimmings but i'm a wargear hog) just under 900 pts 2 x 6 legion support squads (melta and plasma plus some trimmings) under 450 pts 10 x terminators (2 hf, 2 combi and various melee goodness) also under 450 pts 2 x contemptors one mortis + 2 kheres ac (magnets and model permitting) and a regular + mm and fist for just over 350 pts Like you though I'm dithering over legion of choice mostly as I really can't face painting any more smurfs but love the Invictarus Suzerain models Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/315552-noob-list-writing-for-plastic-heresy/#findComment-4213562 Share on other sites
RandomMarine
The mk4 armour is why I got only 1 box as IH are mk3 mostly in my head so I'm gonna use the mk3 ironhands squad I've got as Sargent's and make a a support squad with the spare marines. I aso picked up some studded cog shoulder pads. Wolfbiter
I think your idea of building an Iron Hands/Raven Guard allied list is very cool and thematic, especially after reading about the IH and RG sniper who work as a team in "Angel Exterminatus." Do you plan to add any Forge World eventually? Just in terms of looks, Gorgon Terminators and the RG sniper squad look great, I think. It's a ways off, though. Money problems. Personally I prefer the Cataphractii pattern armor to the Indomitus. Gorgons are still cool, though!
