At least to have a fully painted betrayal at Calth set for the game. I just can't get to grips with the metallic teal, and this allows them to be used  alongside my codex marine army in 40k.  It's also pretty unique! Xenith
So, it's been a while. After a lot of indecision, I decided to press on and do some painting. Omega Legion Destroyer I'm quite enjoying this scheme, and painting black and white is tricky as ever. Xenith
Just posting in the thread to keep it safe from the purge - I haven't been motivated on HH stuff for a while due to indecision, but will hopefully get back to it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316743-advanced-infiltration-heralds-of-extinction/page/3/#findComment-5081884 Share on other sites
Xenith
This thread has existed from 2015 - 2022 - and I still haven't decided on a colour scheme In the meantime, I've finished off those Destroyers, however they're in the Omega Split Scheme, however I'm not sure if I want to continue with that. Two new testers Army Painter crystal blue base, nuln recess, warp lightning green glaze on uppers. Ahriman blue over crystal blue, temple guard highlight, nuln recess. Noserenda
Ha same, though thats usually because the paint ive been using goes OOP! I think i prefer the darker scheme, without the chainsword? Xenith
Good to see it's not just me! tinpact
Racing stripes! I like the lighter blue a little more with the white stripe (I would color the kneepad too). Â The first one I think would look better if the green was a little lighter and/or more prominent. Xenith
Putting a little more work into the Ahriman Blue guy:  He's still rough and incomplete, this is really just a main test on the armour panels and seeing if I can achieve what I want in terms of [sponge] weathering, but I think it's looking decent. Also changed up the eyes to orange over red, they pop more against the teal. Yellow looked good also. Edited July 1, 2022 by Xenith Brother Kraskor, Loquille, tinpact and 2 others 5 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316743-advanced-infiltration-heralds-of-extinction/page/3/#findComment-5826381 Share on other sites

Xenith
So I got the new set, along with many others - I've been testing out a new Akhelian green scheme, and did this guy: 50/50 Medium/akhelian green over leadbelcher spray overbrushed with Ironbreaker. Metals then got a basilicanum wash.  Additionally, I got the previously shown contemptor painted up for a tournament last February, where I needed some extra firepower... It’s basically this name - I’ve dropped you a quick like, although I don’t tend to post too much on my socials about the hobby, I mostly focus it here! I love the base! I’ve been debating what to do with mine, although I’m potentially leaning towards something even lighter than what you’ve done to accentuate the contrast. I do love the Mars bases - my Mechanicum have been a prime beneficiary, but I suppose it’s whether you think it might be better or less busy? Either way: I think it looks amazing, and can’t wait to see more if you continue with this style! I imagine a Contemptor with a similar style could be a wonderful display piece… Xenith 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316743-advanced-infiltration-heralds-of-extinction/page/3/#findComment-5839024 Share on other sites

Xenith
I've been playing a bit with micro set and micro sol recently to try and up my transfer game - something I've avoided like the plague since...3rd ed, when transfers were awful, and often fell off when they dried (no one told me about varnishing them), which is where I started to freehand things, eventually becoming proficient enough that I didn't need decals. However, now, they're just different weapons in the arsenal, so time to git gud with them. I've upgraded the previous Alpha with a Legion Armourial. This one's from the FW transfer sheet, however I was tempted to go with the old school green Hydra from the CSM sheet. I might vary unit by unit. I think it would be cool to work in that lime green (my favourite colour) somewhere.  In trying to work out what insignia to use (Aleph-Null vs Hydra) I went back to the source. The FW sheet has both, and I was unsure. Seems the AL switched partway through the herest from the Aleph Null to the Hydra when they really let the memes dominate their legion. It as also tempting to try and paint up someone in the original deep blue/indigo of the Alphas (going way back to 2nd ed). Maybe a Sabateur? Xenith
Really excited for the newly released additional Legion units - some of the destroyers are particularly tasty, and have more sensible weapon loadouts - I'm particularly looking at the UM destroyers, with bolters to have a bit of range, the Atramentar, being able to go up to 20 men strong, and the sunkiller squads. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316743-advanced-infiltration-heralds-of-extinction/page/3/#findComment-5840117 Share on other sites
Xenith
What do you think looks better for Alpha Eyes? Clockwise from top left: orange, moot green, orange variant, yellow. I'm kind of looking the orange, and it leaves room to use green elsewhere. Glowy green could be cool though. Noserenda
Orange variant looks good! The Problem with green markings on Alpha Legion blue/purple is that they are really hard to make pop, to the extent that people outright miss them sometimes. White is a much better choice, or trimming Green with white (But thats tricky!) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316743-advanced-infiltration-heralds-of-extinction/page/3/#findComment-5841950 Share on other sites
