If you move you have 6" range, but you can assign your shots out to 12".

Exact quote is:

"If none of the firing models are in range of a particular model in the target unit, then Wounds cannot be allocated to it. Note that, when determining if a model is out of range, always use the firing weapon’s maximum range, even if it was a Rapid Fire or Salvo weapon that was shooting at half range (it can be imagined that whilst these weapons sacrificed accuracy or mobility to gain extra shots, their shots still travel their full range and have luckily hit another enemy)."

Repeaters are awesome on overwatch with the rad grenade. Unleash three twinlinked instant death shots

I thought salvo doesn't overwatch...?

No such rule at all my friend.

Ah thanks^^

But who the hell would charge a squad of repeaters unless in ZM?

Lol you could kill that likely 5 man squad with bolters and such.

World eaters. To ID red butchers are priceless. However I hope that forgeworld made a mistake and write range already halved by salvo. =)

Ok fam, do I've been postulating:

What if the humble legion dreadnought? Use in an Ironwing list might actually be viable. Give them acid heavy bolters (I'm going to do this with the cool mkiv ironclad hurricane bolter), melta gun, and two hunter killer missiles. Take a Talon and spam 4-6 tank hunting missiles, and clean up infantry with acid heavy bolters.

Saves some points while making them a credible threat. Just make sure to use cover since they don't have a ++

In terms of popping Rhinos and killing juicy Vets/ Tacs etc inside - not a bad idea at all. Cheap I don't think is the word for it however, as these come in at 155pts a pop... So 465pts for your Talon.

While not a direct comparison of role, the issue comes in when you compare them to a Contemptor Cortus:

For a measly 10pts extra (165 total) you can get a Contemptor Cortus with a Kheres Assault Cannon and Graviton Gun Fist (or double Grav).

With Tank hunter this guy is rending up vehicles all over the show while chipping off all but guaranteed HP with the Grav weaponry. He is more mobile in his overcharge ability and has AV13 5++ on the front Arc to protect him, much stronger than plain AV12. Not to mention fleet to actually get into combat.

You of course have the advantage of range with those Hunter-Killers, but they are one shot and gone...

I tried it and its powerful as hell.

Good synergy with machine killers veterans or lightning. 10 tartaros with mauls an rad grenades to smash everyone and sweep them. 3 by 4 acid jetbikes. 4-5 speeders with grav. We can even take them as one unit cause we have ability to junk and then hide in the ongoing reserves.

So, has anyone actually tried Ravenwing extensively? To me, it is still a major headscratcher. Compared to Scars, it seems rather limited (and very expensive to buy). Am I missing something? Sorry, if it has been covered. I skimmed most of the pages.
