2500 Iron Warriors Artillery

Sooooo I'm looking to break into the wonderful world of 30k and landed on the awesomeness that is the 4th legion!
Iron warriors!

I'll be splitting a box of BaC with a buddy and already won a cheapish Deredeo off eBay but wanted to get some advice on my list before I made any other big purchases.

I've been looking at the Hammer of Olympia RoW purely for the 4th heavy slot (not interested in using allies really) and I want to fit as many tanks and pie plates as I can into the list.

So for 2500 here it is,

HQ
Praetor w/ AA, Iron Halo, Paragon Blade, Warsmith

145

Troops
Tac Squad (19 guys w/ additional CCW) + Sergeant w/ AA, Power Fist
315

x2 Tac Squad w/ Nuncio Vox + Rhino

195 each

Elites

Apothecary

45

Quad Mortar Squad of 3

180

Tyrant Siege Terminators w/ 2 Chainfist

305

Heavy

Deredeo Dreadnought w/ Aiolos Missile Launcher, Shrapnel Bolts

220

Iron Havoc Support Squad w/ 5 Lascannons

260

Sicaran w/ Heavy Bolter Sponsons, Shrapnel Bolts, Armoured Ceramite

175

Artillery Tank Squadron of 3 Medusas

465

So the Rhinos with Vox's can hit flanks or baby sit home base and provide LoS to the different Artillery in the list, the Apothecary, Praetor, and 20 man blob foot slog to charge something, and pretty much everything else shoots! I figured the free extra armour on everything lets the Medusas continue firing even if they get the odd pen.

Comments, thoughts? This is my first attempt at a list so I'm open to anything, just wanted to keep with the Iron Warriors theme.
Should I shuffle points for a Siege Breaker to give the Medusas Phosphex Shells? Not sure if it's worth dropping the Apothecary really...

Cheers

Try and find points for a Bunker for those lascannon Havocs, or they'll die real quick.

The Apothecary will do a job job keeping the blob alive (except against artillery).

I prefer normal Medusa shells to phosphex (Strength 10 will rip through anything). You might be able to get away with just 2, giving you a few points to spend elswhere (like on the previously mentioned bunker).

Also, Kyr Vhalen is an awesome character (a Loyalist Iron Warrior). If that theme works for you, he's better than a Praetor as he buffs a building and his unit. Consider him. :)

Everything else looks good!

I would drop the Praetor for Kyr Vhalen

Also I would drop the 20 man tactical unit. This would mean you dont get the ROW but all you really get from that ROW is an extra heavy support.

You would then have to drop another heavy support option (probably the sicarian)

With the Points saved, increase the Tyrant Terminator squad to 10. Drop the missiles on the deredeo and give it the automatic pasive (for +1 invun). With any other points left over increase the Havoc squad.

Also drop the apothicary and get a master of signals for +1 BS and an orbital bombardment.

I would also consider swapping the lascannons for missile launchers. You save 10pts/model and you get Krak, Frag and Flakk. Its a great points efficient unit.

This would give you a BS 5 unit with re-rolls to hit of 1.

Your medusas should take out any spartans as flare shields dont work against barrage weapons.

The rest, with 20 missile from the tyrants, 12 from the mortars and 10 from the havocs, plus the deredo, you should be able to laugh off any light vehicles.

And with the number of blast weapons, infantry will feel the hurt.

I really do like Iron warriors. I feel their versatility in taking out both vehicles and infantry makes them 1 of the best legions out there. Its just a shame their ROW, rules and specific wargear are a bit censored.gif...but then i suppose you cant have everything.

Leaning towards the Traitor side of things for now so Kyr might be off the table at the moment.

But I think you're right, 3 Medusa might be over kill.
So if I drop one I can add:

Wall of Martyrs Imperial Bunker w/ Ammo Store for the reroll 1's to hit with tank hunting lascannons that reduce cover....ew
70 points

and then bump the Lascannon squad up to 7 with an additional Augury Scanner to protect some of the back field.

That's the 155 points shuffled around.

All the datasheet for the bunker says is that the access and fire points are "as per model"
In the picture it looks like there are 2 and with the Wide Fire Points rule, correct me if I'm wrong, but 8 models total can shoot out of it since that's 4 for each Firing Point?

Sorry I've never used a Fortification before, Iron Warriors siege tactics seem like an awesome place to start though haha

EDIT: just saw your reply after typing this jgascoine011, I'll have to sleep on it and come back tomorrow!
