Jolemai
Warhammer TV has published this today as part of their advent series, indicating that it can be used for Death Company. Academic for some, useful for others I'm sure :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317217-whtv-advent-black-armour-guide/ Share on other sites
Jolemai
Personally, I do a subtle highlight with Hawk Turquoise. What do you use should you do it differently? Captain Semper
Indeed! Turquoise + gray + black gives a great highlight and a blue-black effect... I use that too although I'm also looking for alternatives. Edit: Eshin Grey may not be a bad idea actually... jagunio
I basecoat with eshin grey, then add one layer of nuln oil, then highlight with dawnstone, and administratium gray, then add like 3-4 layers of nuln oil. Its not black black, but close to and in my opinion looks slightly better Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317217-whtv-advent-black-armour-guide/#findComment-4253814 Share on other sites
Kobrakei
An alternative Blue/Black I use is Dark Reaper for all edges with an extreme highlight of Thunderhawk Blue as below http://lh6.ggpht.com/-J_G_mtWGE2g/U2utOsF0d_I/AAAAAAAAAfM/XRuKwzuKY-A/s1600/1399565557270.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317217-whtv-advent-black-armour-guide/#findComment-4253816 Share on other sites
Paikis
Black base, mechanicus grey dry brush, wash with a sure blue. Nice and simple and gives a very nice look. Slips
Incubi Darkness gives a nice Green-Black effect! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317217-whtv-advent-black-armour-guide/#findComment-4253951 Share on other sites

sockwithaticket
I generally only do one highlight. For my Crimson Tears it's VMC Neutral Grey (mid-tone) on Army Painter Matt Black ( I don't know why they leave off the e on matte, but they do). Once I took the time to do the slightly darker VMC Basalt Grey with an additional Neutral Grey highlight, but it took so much longer that I'm not sure I'll ever do it again except in a particularly awesome character. For my Deathwatch it's VMC German Grey (very dark) over AP Matt Black. I recently used Reaper Pure Black to do the armour on a Deathwatch Captain with the same highlight colour and really liked that, it's super matte.
