Good day Brothers and Sisters!

I hope you had a Merry, haul-filled Christmas. I certainly had, with my latest resin-crack arriving on Christmas eve out of the blue. Such a haul, my primary aim was to create a troops detachment that looks truly Legion-specific. As such I've received:

120 Chainaxes

60 Upgrade Torsos

60 Upgrade Heads

30 Shoulder Pads

10 Veteran Heads

2 BaC Boxes

So begins my new army, Angron's Eaters of Worlds.

I have a whole 2 weeks off, so will be attempting to complete the bulk of my warband. No procrastination, no half assing, only full assing for the forseeable future.

So, without further faffing, my current project load:

Good day brothers, apologies for the delay in my update. I spent all of Tuesday tidying and then my interwebs went down. 

 

It was probably for the best, because assembling 40 despoilers has been exhausting. The BaC box only really caters for crossed arms bolter poses. I've had to brutalise a Chaos Warriors battalion and raid my bitz box to it's core to get to this point. I should be all good, and it's given the squads a great variety in appearance. 

 

I also assembled a World Eaters High Chaplain, 'The Bloody Minotaur', who was assigned office after being the sole survivor of a disastrous campaign to cleanse a Xenos hive-maze, against the advice of Imperial High Command to simply erase the sites from orbit. Angron innit.  He's armed with an obvious thunder hammer and a potentially not so obvious Caedere barbed hook-lash (Chaos Marauder flail)

I'm hoping to spray the white armour, blue armour and metal weapons shortly. I can then stick them all together and do the final painting stages.

I quite like the paint job. I would spot your larger blood stains with a darker red to create more contrast to the diluted effect you have with the white showing through a little too much.

I agree with wolf_pack the dirty white looks good, only maybe break up the blood with some more variation (different reds/browns)

Question, are you undercoating with black spray before using the white spray?

 

I am about to embark on a WE army and trying to figure out if I should do that or just go white on top of the plastic. My gut tells me black first...

Looking great so far Potato! The only thing I can think of is to back up Wolf_pack. Experimenting with a couple red/brown mixes for varying ages of blood would deepen the effect quite well. After all, these bros look like they've been putting the work in ^_^

 

What are you thinking for basing?

Digging the dirty look mate, a suggestion for the blood effects though. Try nuln oil with blood for the blood god, vary the shades it creates on your palette by not mixing it thoroughly and then afterwards follow up with some gloss varnish brushed on. Other then that, looks good! And you have so many more to go :D

Thanks for the support & suggestions. I will throw in some nuln oil with the BftBG stuff on a palette. 

 

In another update, I am finally at the mass spraying stage. The only sticking remaining is the mag-locked bolters onto thighs, but they are getting painted separately.

Those dudes look awesome.  Are you spraying them down with black primer before the white spray?

Nah I am spraying Corax White and washing heavily with Agrax. I'd usually do more layers but with 40 on the go I really despaired of that level of effort! 

 

As an update, everything has been sprayed and is ready for the initial layers. The task is now dauntingly epic to me :| 

 

I've also decided to pursue an Istvaan base, test image below. It's not quite black enough yet, I'm planning on adding a dark grey and further nuln oil wash. I've got loads of spare arms, torsos and heads from the BaC box so scattering the bases with Shattered Legion bodies should be an easy way of spicing the bases up with little effort.

Most of his brothers have cleaner armour, or at the least I've decided to go for a blackened/bloody effect on the boots to represent them wading through walls of loyalist corpses. Anyone who has two melee weapons though, they got sponged all over and err'where. They're the fellows who truly devolved to beserker madment 'pon the Black Sands of Istvaan.

Now up is the Spartan, Deredeo, High Chaplain & Attack Bikes. No rest for the wicked eh!

27th Veteran Despoiler Squad 'Mazerunners'. Part of the rescue spearhead sent in to the xenos hive-mazes to rescue their soon to be new High Chaplain. They served directly under him until the Istvaan Atrocities.

77th Despoiler Squad 'Annihilators'. Recent inductees into the XII Legion, they did not have the benefit of Terran temperance to slow their descent into the Nail songs. Many lost their minds at the Istvaan Atrocity and have been since contained in the bowls of the Conqueror, only to be unleashed when war calls.

Small update, for I have been somewhat idle recently! 

 

Assembled the Spartan and two out of six attack bikes. Adorned the bikes with glorious extra combat attachments, searchlights to hunt devious Raven Guard and a few power packs to generate the extra gubbins.
