redmapa
Still no clarification about the missing squadron command tank rules. They really don't want my predator squadrons to be really cool I guessWhat clarification is needed? The rules are in the vehicle wargear section? Does it no longer grant interceptor? I haven't looked at that rule in a while. No, it grants a 24'' bubble to reroll morale checks since the FAQ before this one. Brofist
Still no clarification about the missing squadron command tank rules. They really don't want my predator squadrons to be really cool I guess What clarification is needed? The rules are in the vehicle wargear section? Vehicle squadrons had about 3 paragraphs in the 1st book. I suspect they accidentally left it out of LACAL like a few other things (what we got is a copy paste from the stormblade entry which makes 0 sense). The FAQ clears up the typo, but keeps us guessing about the missing rules for squadrons. A few of us have contacted FW about it and never gotten a answer back. Our league runs with the old rules since they are fluffy and gives a little bump to predators, artillery squadrons, and their ilk. Would be nice for everyone to have that option though. Liquid_O
Ah, now I've got it, they don't have a difference between the superheavy and non superheavy command tank rules. I don't have lacal book, so I've been using the book 1 rules where it's fairly well separated. Gotta love the Gw/FW editing staff! Hesh Kadesh
The last FAQ gave the rules for the Command Tank, and it was copied again in the new ones. If you are porting over Betrayal rules then you should apply it universally too, so no Shatter Shells on mortars. Artillery Squadrons cannot have command tanks, either, iirc. Brofist
They can- as can landraiders. You can interpret and apply whatever rules you like. I'm just happy we get any support at all. I have very low expectations given the rate of FAQs for the flagship game. heron
One thing that jumped out to me in the new FAQ is the small clarification to cortex controllers in the box on the updated Castellax rules page. Not only do legion armies with cortex controllers now get updated castelalax (with the higher points), but this also replaces the "optional heavy" thallax entry in the red book with the newer mechanicum thallax cohort entry. This unlocks advanced protocols such as icarian or ferrox for thallax units in a legion army, as well as allowing for taking a triaros! I am pretty sure this is new for the FAQ. Kor'Vesh
Also IF 2+/3++ Terminators that can sweep woo!! Suck it Firedrakes!! Firedrakes can't hear you Imperial Fists over the sound of their second wound and superior weapon skill Fists seem to have the best normal terminator infantry now though - glad they're loyal! In all seriousness though, I'm glad they've differentiated Tartaros, as the models are stunning. Slightly worried by all those Sweeping Deathshroud though - Death Guard are meat to be slow like Vulkan's boys! Slips
Those would've been sick burns were it not for the Salamanders Fire Fetish :P ...but yeah, about that FAQ ~.~ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317964-fw-horus-heresy-rules-update-pdf/page/3/#findComment-4274644 Share on other sites
Kor'Vesh
Depth - you wound me! It took be a solid four days to respond! What do you think I'm some head stong Iron Hand? At last, we have confirmation that even Salamanders players consider themselves to be slow. The one time we turned up early and rushed in, it didn't work out too well for us! So Slips has convinced me that Firedrakes are underpowered! I demand an new FAQ! On topic - what about those Dreadnought improvements eh? Nice... ... khorneguy
If I'm reading the PDF correctly, this update means that a Predator with command tank upgrade allows re-rolls of moral e checks within 24", just like their super heavy counterparts, right? RandomMarine
Yep IMO makes predator squadrons much more useful in small point games in general Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317964-fw-horus-heresy-rules-update-pdf/page/3/#findComment-4274858 Share on other sites

Xenith
While it's nothing to do with the FAQ, I have a small rules query so will ask here instead of making a new thread: Can I equip 1-2 bikes in an outrider squad with plasma/melta, or does it have to be all basic bikers? The wording is a bit ambiguous, but not as specific as the support/heavy support squads. Due to the support squad wording, I think not all models have to upgrade their weapons.
