Knight Magaera is all done, including magnetized Siege Wrecker. It's a really nice model and I can see why people like them so much and was a blast to see come together. I'm kind of sad there hasn't been any other opportunities to use the Blood for the Blood God as it contrasts super well with the light scheme.

Damn dude, that cream and bronze scheme looks amazing on a Knight carapace. 

 

Those little blue details do a great job of pulling your attention to all his important bits ^_^

Thanks Flint :) I'm really quite happy I got that blue paint, even though I did pay way too much for it wacko.png

As for magnetizing, the other weapon comes with the other knight set so I didn't have it, and because of the power cables and reactor on the back of the knight it looks to be far more complicated than magnetizing for the paladin/errant.

I'm also not sure the lightning cannon is necessarily bad either. The rending does give it some form of flexibility to threaten 2+ armour and pen buildings, compared to the choom gun, that just eats through 3+ and light AV facings

It's just that it's S7 AP3, and if you're trying to kill stuff with that weapon profile, you have two varieties of battlecannons, two varieties of giant machineguns, an apocalypse flamer, the skyspear rocket launchers, and of course the chierovile (wub.png ). A lot of these are also S8 to deny FNP. The main issue is that it is only one shot, so if you're going to drop one template, even the Errant has a much deadlier gun (and doesn't need rend to kill Sv2+ and AV).

I think the gun was a seriously missed opportunity or they forgot to add a rule. I would be okay with house-ruling it to have a small blast but to carve a line across the board like the Ordinatus. Who's with me?

Thanks for the note on the cabling, I have an unassembled knight and the magaera bits sitting in my to do pile (it's a big pile), and the idea was to magnetize it. Looks like I may need another knight.

Really good points and kind of reveals my lack of interest in knights rules-wise :P

 

On the whole, the weapon options won't be a huge deal as the total of what I'm painting is going to be somewhere near the 10k points mark. Including an Ordinatus ;)

Krios are all done! it took a bit longer than I would have liked but I ran out of white on the Thanatars and then went back and changed all the bases to brown and hit all the models up with weathering powders. Sorry about the glare on the first pic off the tracks, they are brown; good pictures (finally) within the next few days of everything so far.

Probably after I'm done the next batch of stuff, since there's about 30 tech thralls and 4 castellax in there. That being said, I won't be the one playing them as I'm actually doing them for a friend

Thanks everyone for the praise, it means a ton to me and I'm glad everyone seems to like it as much as I liked painting it all :)

The blue was pretty lucky, it was both easy to do and contrasted very well with the white and gold

I really like the color scheme, and the occasional use of blue, but I don't think that every single energy source they have, whether it's volkite or plasma or graviton or radiation or smoke launchers or optics or the backlights of their abeyant keyboard should have the same color.  Unless, of course, there is some fluff about this being an extremely divergent Forge World that uses some Necro-esque alien power source to juice all of its technology.

 

Anyway, given the quality of work and the speed of production, you should do commission work!

It's funny you mention it, but the army actually is a commission for a friend of mine :P

Now, because of the all the detail and swathes of main colour, secondary colour and silver on these models I wanted to be able to break it up effectively with a high contrasting spot colour and blue worked the best. Imo the use of it doesn't overpower the models like the use of some OSL effects and is a clear accent colour when looking at the army shots

Fluff wise, who knows what power sources the Mechanicum used? Those lenses and optics could actually be multi-spectrum scanners instead of just lights msn-wink.gif

Jokes aside, my client had nothing but praise and the majority of people liked the end result, so I'll call it a win in my book; it's impossible to paint something that satisfies everyone
