That is awesome!!

Thanks! Hope you stick around, more to come.

That red... one of the redest reds I've seen in my life. I think I just got the right recipe for my future Khorne 'zerkers.

It's quite orange up until the final glaze goes over, then it's so satisfying to see the colour turn a really nice rich red for the final result.

Give it a go, worth the patience and long process!

Figured I'd post a quick update on this most dreary and wet of English mornings - can't get outside to prime miniatures!

As you can see I've built the six members of the second squad. I was very excited when my (10-man) MKIII Burning of Prospero plastics arrived!

Since these are supposed to be former Iron Warriors, MKIII armour was clearly a must but due to their outcast status, each one also has incorporated more recent replacement components from MkIV and even the odd loyalist MK VI part. I wanted them to look purely MkII at a glance, but on closer inspection actually be a bit more mismatched and less uniform in appearance as a squad. Sometime soon I will have to write down my ideas for this squad and the minor warbnd they derived from.

The middle one in the first picture is the Aspiring Champion (as shown last post) whereas the middle one in the second picture will be the squad's Meltagun specialist.

Speaking of the Aspiring Champion, aside from his Combi-Melta and (somewhat hidden) chainmail tabard, he is quite to identify him differently from the rest of the squad - hence I made his backpack a bit more ornate;

Hopefully you'll agree it's a bit more subtle than the usual unwieldy spiky poles that Chaos Space Marines are quite fond of!

As I said, once the weather clears up I can prime these newly built additions and begin painting.

Best thing is, this squad of six combined with the five existing Red Corsairs on my desk combine to make a legal 200pt Kill Team!

I started chucking some paint on one of the Shattered Chaos Marines. The red was a doddle as I have that colour scheme locked down now. The silver however proved to be a tad more challenging. Initially I tried my usual NMM but it wasn't working out so I switched back to true metallics, something I've not done in years.

I only had a W&N silver ink to hand, which I found is great to pseudo wet-blend over (it takes a longer time for it to fully dry) as all I was addin to it was varying amounts of black and glazes of brown and blue. Unfortunately, it sucks up a lot of paint so I had to keep going over and over the silver ink, which takes a lot longer to do than my usual feathering thin paint layers over dried paint.

Still, there's something neat about the contrast between the matte red and the glossy metallics which is something I didn't consider.

I love the look of it so far, but I certainly need to invest in some GW metallic paints (silver and brass) to really finish these models. The need for the silver is obviously, whereas I need the brass for the leg greaves on the Shattered and for the Red Corsair backpacks and details.

I'd love to hear your comments!
