Obstinacy, Deception, & Malifica (Castellax 4MAR16)

The amount of models I have waiting to be painted gives me nightmares, so I thought I would begin posting photos of my Taghmata Omnissiah, Questoris Knights, Imperial Fists, and Alpha Legion as a sort of cattle prod to spur my own motivation. When I was painting Black Templar, it seemed to work, so here goes. Warning: this thread will be very pic heavy!

First, Voluntas Necandi. Please forgive the background -- I'll find something more suitable in the future.

Beautiful. Can't say that I've seen a Titan painted up in Legion Mortis colors before (which is an oddity in and of itself,) but I like it. The red spot colors really pop against the black and white. My favorite part, though, must be the script on the lower legs. It's a detail, but an awesome one that really pulls the model together.

Mors Ultima Ratio

I did this for an ETL a while back, so these are actually reposted images. Apologies if you've seen them before. I thought that since this thread will contain my heresy models, it wouldn't be complete without the Fellblade.

Nice work brother. Very nice. I'm especially impressed by the uniformity of your checker-pattern squares. :tu:

Thanks! They were actually reasonably easy to do, using parallel lines of masking tape cut perpendicularly into squares with a sharp knife. I just removed every other square, had a go with the airbrush, and *poof* checkers.

Please tell me that your company got its Terran recruits from Northern Alba...

You'll know when you see the tartan on my Templar Brethren!

The Scot in me is singing Scotland the Brave at this news!

More Taghmata. This time some HQ.

I also have a painted Archmagos Draykavac, but I'm not happy with the model. I got it from the same person who traded me my Sigismund model, and even though the resin color matched FW resin perfectly, I discovered upon working with them that the texture, strength, and detail were all slightly off. I've ordered a new (and authentic) Sigismund from FW and have a replacement Draykavac in my shopping cart. I'll stick Draykavac behind the following SPOILER tag if anyone cares enough to see what I managed to do with the substandard casting.

It's not horrid, but you can definitely see the rough surface texture and areas where I've had to repair the detail, such as the text around the base of the abeyant. I'm very tempted to go on a rant about recasts, but I don't think it would be productive to do so.

Where did you you get the banner for the fell blade? It's amazing!!!!

Thanks -- I'm glad you like it! That is the Warhammer Empire General's banner with some modifications. I drilled out the hammer shaft, replaced it with brass rod, and tipped the rod with a forge world bolter. I'm not sure what the blade came from -- it's probably part of a high elf kit. The extra banner on the gun halberd's staff is just a bit of molded plasticard with brass Templar crosses attached. The shield also has a bit of Templar brass. It doesn't show much in the photo, but I also added some fine scale chain binding the skeleton's wrist to the gun-halberd staff. I also replaced the skeleton's hooded head with the crowned head of the wight-king mini.

Man, this thread is awesome.

Would you happen to have a closeup of that right thanatar?

Thanks! I'll try to get done more photos posted this evening, though it could be tomorrow or even Monday.

Love the Abeyant you did for the first magos, is it a skaven doomwheel, and some necron parts?

The mechanicum banner is also really well done.

I'm glad you recognized the doomwheel bits.
