DimDim
+ Silence. It had been what, an hour? Two? It seemed a century to Jarek. Sliding himself out from beneath the holo table he was met with the stench of hydraulic fluid, an odour he knew well from his years upon the Dominator. Hydraulic fluid and something else, something heavy. Looking up from his feet, he realized it was the blood. The command deck was in shambles, its primary controls smashed and desecrated. Row upon row of the slaved serfs that crewed the essential functions of the frigate were dead, their skulls smashed against the consoles still attempting to feed them damage and critical systems reports. The frigate was dying, left stranded in suspension above that damned desert world the cursed Morning Star had called from only a day before. Turning to his right, Jarek’s heart skipped a beat. The sight before him was one of bloody vengeance. Upon the coveted twenty seconds chapter banner hung the consul, crucified in a fashion unseen to Jarek his entire life despite his maturing upon Cthonia. The consul hung in the shape of the eagle, his rib cage split open like wings. Written in the blood pouring down its tattered cloth, stood a single message. We are wrath. + Welcome to my Horus heresy space wolf plog, and by extension my journey through my second HH army. Figured I would post this here instead of the wip section because I figured I would get more critical feedback from you guys than over there. After all, y'all are the Horus heresy lads. This army is more about creating the models I want to make than models that would be good on the tabletop, so expect some wacky stuff, and more than a few kitbashes/conversions as I try to balance the "is it too wolfy, or not wolfy enough?". I didnt want this to be too long, so I only included the painted minis and wips for the force I really like, and ill post the others some other time. Onto the models! Now the wips, with all pretty much ready for paint except the banner bearer. Thanks for the peek, and any criticism is welcome.P.s, my fists aren't being abandoned either DimDim Edited January 13, 2020 by DimDim Flint13, Beerhammer, foamy248 and 23 others 26 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320164-legends-of-the-hunt-a-vith-legion-log/ Share on other sites

Soldier of Dorn
Crap, that fluff was dark. I'm guessing from the use of the Blood Eagle that these guys are pretty brutal for Fenryka? Either way, awesome. Although I am wondering how you would open up an Astartes ribcage, since they're supposedly a solid mass of fused bullet-proof bony plates, but the thought that they've ripped apart that makes it seem even more brutal and dark. Also, this guy is absolutely killer. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us! Fenrys hjolda! DimDim
+ Five magazines, two grenades, a chain bayonet and his hand axe. Everything was there, but he checked again. “...30 seconds.” Einar snapped from his routine. The sound of the storm eagles turbine engines roared in the background as he felt himself being shaken by the flak that hammered the sky around the dropships descent trajectory. The back of the eagles assault bay was lit only by the dim red glow of the jump light, faintly making out the silhouettes of his nine other team members preparing and checking their own equipment before their landing. As the ramp slammed open onto the desert floor his brothers made their charge out into the lasgun fire that met them on the open plain that laid ahead, silence being their single unifying trait as they tore across the broken sands towards the traitor Sons of Horus auxillia line. Walking from the assault ships ramp he grinned. It was magnificent, and try though he may Einar couldn't help but howl and laugh at the slaughter ahead. + Space Wolves Veteran Legionary Pack Member Einar Assault of Anjar + (now that I see the pics his eyes need more highlighting) Now that thats done and over with, WIPS 4 DAYZ: (well at least two days....) DimDim
+ "A proclamation is a proclamation, Astarte. The Administorum would like a recording of the deeds of the loyal, your own included. I've been given charge to take care of the recordings within your fleet. Do you understand?" The Astarte nodded to show he understood. Daren returned the gesture in good faith. He continued, "You fought on Anjar? The records of the campaign are little to non existent." Daren sifted through his databank in search of the files, "You operated alone at this time? I believe the entire fleet was listed lost to the warp." The stranger reached into a pouch, definitely not standard issue, and pulled out a round medallion on a silver chain. It pictured the head of a wolf, baring its fangs over a crescent moon. He threw it to the table, coming to rest before the remembrancers notes. Daren rose, "This is forbidden to carry! Why risk showing this to me?" "You wanted a story." Daren was caught flat footed. Despite his basic instinct to report the hulking Astarte for carrying the sigil of the arch traitor, his damned curiosity latched to the idea of a tale that could be lost to time should he act now. Reluctantly, he slid back into his chair. "Do you have a name? Any name will do, it's simply to make conversation easier." 'My name is Aldrik.' 'Aldrik, it is then. Go on, I believe you had a recounting to give?" + Why did they always struggle? Aldrik stood ten feet from his target. The Son was small for an Astarte, though still standing feet above any normal man clad within his Mk.IV plate. Once a proud centurion of his legion, the Son of Horus now stood beaten, his plate battered and bloodied, sword shattered above its midsection. He was a broken thing, and Aldrik found it quite pitiful to think that this once "honoured" man would spend the rest of time decaying in the bottom of the trench he now stood in. He prepared for the strike, quick, efficient, brutal. The same technique that had caught the dancing swordsman before him dead in his tracks would be the same that slew him. But Aldrik hesitated. The shaking hand of the marine went behind his plate and withdrew a small trinket of some sort, pulling a silver medallion before falling to his knees. He clutched the silver as though his life depended on it, keeping his breast close to it as he fought with the blood loss that sought the end of his life. Rising to one knee, the marine removed his helmet. He was smiling. + "He.....smiled? Why would a dead man smile?" The wolf looked long and hard at the pendant resting on the table, finally drawing a conclusion after a long breath, "He wanted to die well, without fear, to atone for his sins." Tyrannicide
Digging the foundations of that Wolf Lord. Gonna be a good one. I like the work you've done on Ulrik's model, but I think the way the casting left arm has been posed is creating some disharmony. I think it might flow better, with the static pose, if you were to lower it to his side. DimDim
Than you for the encouraging words, I can honestly say they are helping me keep pushing this army to fighting strength! A bit of a pitiful update after a long silence, but ever since the last update my last forge world order has come in and I've been building and saving my entire wolf army to be painted for the etl like a good little soldier of the age of darkness Just figured I would keep the log alive and list off what I have (and not yet shown) for my wolves and something I still haven't put the details on yet but am in love with. Unpainted I have: 2x 15 man tactical squads 5 man vet squad Praetor and 4 man terminator guard 1 Vindicator (possibly) one jet bike Captain or Praetor 1 Chaplain 10 man Solar Auxillia Veletaris squad 20 man Solar Auxillia las section (possibly) 5 Cataphractii Alongside this behemoth Man is the Leviathan awesome, DimDim Slips, Runefyre, Brother Dallo and 2 others 5 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320164-legends-of-the-hunt-a-vith-legion-log/#findComment-4373308 Share on other sites
