Who is Cypher? Maybe this guy. Maybe not. He was last seen on a battlefield near __________ working for the Imperium... or... was he? Was he not?

DIY Cypher - back side

First time working with plasticard.
Cloak = YAY! - Turned out pretty good, almost shaped itself after heating, but didn't want to try anything fancy yet.
Hood = Nay... - As you can see the corners took fire. Burned my finger tips. Cursed around and was close to burning the piece down. Don't like the shape it has, but I could NOT get it any closer to the head, no matter how much I tried. Well... the wind of WAR is blowing right at his face. That's why it is slowly falling back. Yes, lets go with that...

And with that I prepared 190 points more for ETL. Cool.

Cloak was pretty easy, compared to the effect it has.

Just look into the list of guides Dantay sent to everyone. There is one for plasticard cloaks and one for cloaks made out of tissue.

Just cut a piece, so it fits under the backpack. Heat a part of it up with a lighter, form it a bit, then go on to the other side, etc.

I was careful with the heat and only formed it gradually into the shape I wanted.

But still, cloak was quite easy...

I will not talk about the hood. (Even though I think 1.0 mm plasticard is to thick to do what I wanted.)

RikuEru.

Looking good. Lighters are fine but you coild also use a candle which would free up both hands.

...

Yea, that is a good idea, actually.

Coule've been mine.

Well if I find the time until the Start of ETL, I'll maybe retry that hood.

And quoting Dantay:

Using plasticard for banners, cloaks & creating fur, by Argyle.

A quick note, I have tried this and found tissue too delicate for me and have used paper towels instead

Thanks RikuEru :)

For those who are participating in the ETL for the first time, whom I affectionately like to consider ETL Bloodclaws,  we decided to shake things up a bit.

For a lot of us the ETL is a great time for mixing ideas and learning new tricks. Admiring models and pushing ourselves, but for people who aven't taken part it can be a bit bewildering and for some off-putting, especially if the first experience was not a positive one.

This year, the reason I have asked first timers to announce themselves, is because we want to do all we can to ensure that it is a positive experience for them.

To that end each has received a welcome message, oulining the ETL with a few tips, and over the past while we regularly feed through updates or give clarification as to what happens in the ETL. This has generally been done via PM.

The most recent one sent to the Bloodclaws was a short guide to modelling ideas.

While focussing on the new-starts, it has always been my intention to put these updates out to the more established members of the pack too, as even some of the Long Fangs need a boost from time to time.

If folks are interested I am more than happy to include you in the circulation list, although the plan is to put them up on the boards.

If only there was a way to keep it from others prying eyes ;)

And you are doing such a great work. That list of guides could be helpful to the veterans aswell. I knew both those guides (and some others), but I would've not thought about them, without your reminder - and I immediately put it to use. happy.png

@codyrstuart
Do you want to put a cloak on your Cypher or was it more of a general question?
I would not add a cloak, it would hide the sword to much, which would be a shame.

Well it could be worse.

The study is known as the man-cave because its where I try to paint my models.

My wife has a changing room for her make-up and clothes.

When people see my man-cave sign and make a comment my son loves to announce that mummy has a lady-cave!!

we then rapidly explain he means changing room.

Trying to work out if I can drill hard stone with a cordless drill and some titanium drill bits

Got my bits in :D Now to find time to assemble.

Edit: no reason for a new post I guess. Opened what I ordered and dumped it on my cutting board, added a couple backpacks from my bits box. Turns out I didn't have as many non Space Wolves options as I'd thought. There's enough loose arms among my buts that I didn't order any more. Didn't dig them out until I had a body pose to tell me what I needed.

Also turns out that sword is completely flat on the back side :(

I started to assemble bits and things didn't look right :( Ended up scrapping most of what's in that pic, except for the pistols and sword. What I ended up with.

Wanted him rather plan because of the Long Ships character he will represent, a warrior returning home with his fallen lord's relic blade. Don't want him attracting too much attention visually ;) Not happy with the sword. Think I need to green stuff the rest of the scabbard tip or find another option. Still thinking
